Its a good place to remember the history of the area. You also have a good landscape view from Movila Tiganului where you can also see Romania on the other side of Prut River.
Beautiful place
There are a bunch(supposedly 100) of small hills that are spread over a large area. Youll probably need a car to see them. Most of them are spread along the main road. Apart from the rural setting and some orchards, there is nothing spectacular. So, if you go there, make sure you visit some other places around, like Padurea Domneasca or Barajul Costești-Stanca. The place might be good for camping.
Beautiful view from the top.
Nice view.
A beautiful place to see after visiting the bison. At the location on the map is a hill to climb from where you can see the mounds. Thats all, a 20-minute location to look around and some photos 🙂
The driver stopped us in a place where the mounds were not very visible, but in general, I liked
This mound is one of the largest in the reservation. Climbing the mound is not an easy task but once you get there you will see a cross and many other mounds in the distance. This location is close to the road being easily accessible.
The mounds are very scattered and seem to be lost among the arable lands.
I had higher expectations, no indicator, nature did its job, but man - nothing
Have a nice getaway!
Mounds like Mounds, where one is tall and you can see them all. Virgin nature.
A bit overrated. The hills are hardly visible except for a few.
Great views.
One Hundred Mounds is a protected area near the Prut, in the Republic of Moldova. It is located in Riscani district, between Braniște and Cobani villages (Glodeni district). The reservation has a lot of mounds 15-30 m high on terraces near the Prut. The steep slope is forested. It has many springs, swamps and has been declared a natural monument. One Hundred Mounds presents a landscape of great scientific and aesthetic value. Some scientists have noted that One Hundred Mounds (Centum Monticuli after Dimitrie Cantemir) is the only place in Europe where they are concentrated in such a large number of submarine reefs of the Mediterranean - tertiary water basin, which covered about 20 million years ago the territory of todays Republic of Moldova. Other scientists believe that the mounds were formed due to landslides and collapses. It is said that fierce battles took place here on this huge field. The victors buried their heroes, raising these mounds: for the ordinary ones - smaller, for the leaders - bigger ”.This unique landscape is located on the slope of the Prut Valley, south-southeast of the villages Braniște and Avrămeni in Rîșcani district. One Hundred Mounds is 8 km long and 2.3-1.7 km wide, and its originality is imprinted by the multitude of relief microforms - over 3500 mounds, mostly elongated, pronounced, with steep slopes and heights from 1-3 m to 30 m (Gypsys Mound). The landscape includes 6 terraces of the Prut, marked from the altitude of 50-60 m of the meadow to 160-170 m of the slope and covers an area of about 1600 ha. The strips between the rows of mounds are slightly undulating. The mounds and rows formed by them are parallel to the Prut meadow.
