Absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding, my best friend looked like a princess and this was the right location if thats what youre going for. Also the staff was SO friendly and helpful. One of the bartenders brought us flip flops for free around 1am because she saw we were over wearing heels π the landscaping is gorgeous and it definitely looks worth the price tag.
Celebrated my double nickels (55) birthday with friends and family on a Sunday afternoon. Food was excellent and plentiful for the price. The waitstaff was very accommodating in adjusting to what appeared to be a mix up with the reservations. They moved expeditiously, without a missed step. Of course the grounds are exquisite for taking pictures. It wasnt my 1st time here, but it was for many of my family and friends. Theyre still raving. The owner even stopped by to wish me a Happy Birthday. Highly recommend.
Beautiful! Got reservations the day before, asked my gf to marry me there! The staff is extremely nice and friendly. A day I will surely remember forever.
Itβs inevitable oheka castles manager and owners prioritize those that are having a wedding over those that are staying there. I stayed there for 2 days, not only was I not able to barely come out of my room bc some Indian wedding was going on, I couldnβt use the main set of stairs to get to the parking lot where my car was located. I was told to go through the back. As if Iβm being snuck through the back like some criminal. I was constantly asked who I was , as to not disturb the wedding guest. It was like being hidden! Terrible experience. They also lie about smoking fees. I donβt even smoke cigarettes yet they claimed I did only to take my deposit. Pathetic out dated hotel that favors weddings over their guest. Be prepared to not come out your room if thereβs a wedding venue going on. Which is literally 99% of the time!
As a wedding & event planner, I feel its always so easy and enjoyable to work with Oheka staff, especially Ms. Debbie Frank the private dining manager who really made my clients engagement celebration dinner a wonderful experience. Because the booking was kinda last minute, Debbie replied my emails promptly with detailed information. And she helped us through the room booking, timeline, upgrade and menu selections! she even took good care of my client and guests onsite with heartfelt greetings and services. There were a dozen of junior kids at the event, Debbie and her team helped bring out many high chairs and even gave the little guests painting books and toys to enjoy. What a professional team and amazing service! I highly recommend Debbie and Oheka for your next important celebration!
Enjoyed our stay, the service, and the gorgeous grounds. Water pipes were unusually loud at night, probably because the estate wasnt designed for modern plumbing. The paid tour was not worth it because it didnt offer anything you couldnt see/learn from a self-guided tour and read of the Wiki page. Was a great stay and would love to return in the future!
Love coming here. Came for dinner, walked around the gardens. The food is always great. This is a treat/special occasion place for us.
Awesome place and food. Its an experience to stay in a really great castle and the owner come around every table to greet and chat with guests. Great scenery and very impressed with cleanliness. Also very friendly and efficient staff. Will go back.
I took my Mother and Aunt to Mothers Day lunch at OHK Bar & Restaurant and didnt like the table we were offered which I mentioned to the staff. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when the manager came over to our table and provided other options. She seemed committed to making sure our experience was pleasant. We ended up at a table with a great server, who steered us right with food and beverage recommendations. We had a delicious meal in a beautiful room with a lovely view looking out on the gorgeous grounds. The owner, Gary, as he known to do, stopped by to say hello. Thanks to Emma, Laura and Anthony who really took the effort to provide us with top notch customer service for our special Mothers Day lunch. I highly recommend the restaurant. It was my second visit.
Did tour...absolutely breathtaking experience....after tour, dined al fresco overlooking property, felt like we were in Europe. Owner came out, personally greeted us, gracious and welcoming. As locals, we found it was an affordable and perfect day excursion. Also has overnight accommodations. Definitely a must-see when visiting Long Island.
Stayed Mon 9/20/21. Property renovation is stunning and staff is helpful and friendly, but chintzes out in annoying ways for such expensive lodging. Breakfast held in a beautiful room with stale bagels and chobani yogurt that was soupy and separated, kinda like the yogurt you accidentally left in the car overnight. Overnight valet parking left us with with horrendous bird and amber droppings. This too was chintzy and annoying. I saw exactly where they park the guest cars along with the staff and contractor cars. Why do they use the worst spots for the paying guests? Save that valet tip for the $30 car wash youll need on departure. Whole experience left a bad taste for $600.
Wow.....what a dream! If you are looking for a historic, romantic, memorable place to escape to, this is it! Besides having breath-taking views, the professionalism and excellent customer service is unmatched. Dinner here was amazing. All the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The owner Gary is a very humble and sociable person of great stature and makes this place the perfect choice to create many memories and to become a reoccurring customer.
Went here for a Mothers Day lunch with my mom and her friends. Highly recommend!! The estate is BEAUTIFUL. We were allowed to take pictures after our meal. The staff was very friendly and polite. The owner, Gary Melius even came to say hello which was a sweet surprise. Funny because moments before his arrival we wondered who owned the estate. All in All! Must visit at least once!
Our stay was perfect. Decor was tasteful, staff was attentive and friendly, the dining menu options were healthy and plentiful. The pool was very clean!
One of the first places that I took my wife on a date. Truly amazing place food is excellent, staff are amazing. The grounds are spectacular. Amazing places to take pictures. Great place for date night prices are also great.
Ive got a blank space baby, and ill write your name
My 24 year old daughter surprised me by taking me here for lunch as one of my birthday gifts. The downside was we couldnt walk around because they were getting ready for a wedding. Food was ok . The day was beautiful because i had lunch with daughter, and we made great memories that will last the rest of my life.
I suprised my wife and took her here to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. It did not disappoint! It is a stunning property that takes you back to a different time in history. You are greeted by a wonderful staff that is helpful and who made our stay pleasant. The room was terrific and the grounds were awesome. What a great place to grab a cocktail on a nice afternoon and enjoy it outside overlooking the beautiful gardens. The restaurant was wonderful as well. Great food and drinks. We loved our stay and will definitely come back!
Upscale big private housemust see list number one in new york.
Lovely rooms, beautiful artwork everywhere. Restaurant had great food and ther service is wonderful.
Had a lovely weekend staying here and dining at their restaurant.-Friendly, helpful hotel staff-Excellent/Delicious dinner-Lackluster and slow service at restaurant-Building and grounds are beautiful/impressive-Our first room was small and not well maintained.-Because toilet was broken, upgraded to a nicer, bigger room that was in much better condition.- Disappointed in first room given the cost of stay- Free breakfastβeither donβt have it or do a decent jobβpoor food quality and mediocre coffee. Getting some good coffee and fresh pastries would go a long way and cost very little.
Wonderful atmosphere; delicious lunches and impeccable service. We all enjoyed!
We go every year on my other halfs birthday, and its always great! He never wants to go anywhere else. Such beautiful surroundings for special occasions!
The mansion tour is such a gem, and I highly recommend doing it since you learn so much history about Oheka and Otto Hermann Kahn. The restaurant is in such a beautiful location, and Greg, our waiter, was incredible. I cant wait to come back and stay at the hotel.
Amazing atmosphere, while dining outside you feel transported out of the country!!! Food however was just.....okay.
Went to the house tour. We arrived about 10 minutes early and waited. There werenβt any clear instructions on what to do and the staff wasnβt very helpful. The tour guide took us upstairs and was very fun but didnβt give much information. The tour seemed rather short and we were only able to see the grounds and first floor. She mentioned that she could take us to the under ground pool but that it really wasnβt worth seeing. After the tour we walked through the gardens (something we didnβt do in the tour) and then went to lunch. The lunch was ok. Pretty expensive for what you get I think but definitely ok. As we were waiting for our Uber we were walking around the bottom floor just talking about the tour and everything and a woman walked out of a doorβ Not wearing a name tag or anything indicating that she worked thereβ and as we walked past she asked us what we were doing and before we could answer she said that only guest were allowed to walk around. And to be honest, we got an attitude. It cost over $60 for the tour, lunch with tip was over $125 (for two, only one cocktail purchased) not to mention the train we took from NYC and the uber from the station. So I was leaving I said back to the person that I guess works there βwe paid to walk around.β And we went and stood in the courtyard in the heat to wait for the uber. We mentioned coming to stay in the fall but we definitely wonβt be doing that. As lovers of Americaβs great homes I will say this hotel and wedding venue is not worth going out of your way for.
Beautiful facility, landscape is picturesque, staff is friendly and professional at all times.Food was great, prices were very good.
Drove here from a half hour away to get rudely told we werenβt welcomed here from the security guard, who looked appalled that we were there while we had a reservation for dinner and were told by the hostess that we could walk around earlier in the day. the security was rude and yelling at us as if we knew that there was an event booked that day when we were told days prior that it was allowed to walk and no wedding was booked. after calling the restaurant to cancel the reservation the hostess had not a care in the world and was was rude as well as they told us false information.
Love the food, large portions are always a must lol
Very nice place to visit. Have lunch at the castle.
Beautiful place...perfect setting for a wedding.
No surprises there ! Always a little suspicious about all these glowing reviews but it is truly a very special place. I took my wife there for her birthday and the Whitney room, the gorgeous gardens and the restaurant were top notch.
Was here for a wedding. In my opinion if it wasnt for the beautiful grounds that its on it would be closed. Service is horrible, staff has no clue about what they serve, rude, food is horrible. Pasta was definitely cooked a day before.
The rooms on the fourth floor are super Great Gatsby!
... and you love the game! What an experience to stay at a location Taylor Swift breathed the air of. Besides that the service was excellent, the food was unmatched, and the location was stunning. βTheyβll tell you Iβm insane!β About this hotel!!! πππ
What can I say? My boyfriend and I had a wonderful night full of laughs and wonderful food. Not to mention the beautiful and talented pianist that played romantic music to our Valentines Day diner. I couldnt have asked for a better night, Thank you to all at Oheka.
I had a bad experience at Oheka restaurant this evening. I made reservations for my anniversary almost a week prior to my dinner, They did not accommodate my reservation even though they called and confirmed it twice. The hostess was rude and dismissive. I definitely will not be back.
Beautiful venue!! Well maintained. A great wedding venue full of class!!
Beautiful landscaped grounds and a stunning interior within the castle. Food was delicious, ambiance wonderful and courteous and friendly staff. Cant wait to go back!
A Long Island MUST!!! Wow!!! Oheka Castle was everything we dreamed it would be, plus more!!! If youβre reading these reviews contemplating if you should come here or not, the answer is YES!! What kind of occasions are great for visiting? Weddings (of course), a ladies weekend (exactly what my girlfriends and I did), romantic evening such as an anniversary or special date, mother-daughter dates, and more!! It is BEAUTIFUL!! The staff is very elegant, kind, spiffy, helpful, and polite. You feel like a princess or queen walking in. The grand staircase is marvelous and makes you definitely feel like Taylor Swift. You have to take a selfie with the knight in the hallway. The rooms are wonderful too, they are castle-like and if you can, try and get a room that faces the gardens or the golf course. We stayed in a Whitney Suite and ADORED it! Bathrooms were clean and lovely. We got champagne to celebrate and start off our night, and then had reservations for dinner, which was, exquisite and delicious! I can be picky with steak quality but my filet was DELICIOUS!! My friends loved their dishes too!!! A photoshoot outdoors here is a MUST. You can run through the gardens and feel like a runaway princess or runaway bride haha. But itβs also gorgeous to get some photos: in front of the castle, the side of the castle, the gardens, the fountains, the row of trees, and the driveway leading up to the castle! Oh! And definitely donβt forget to get some photos on the grand staircase! The breakfast the following morning was delicious and honestly very good quality for complimentary breakfast. The fruit bowls were fresh and even had cute little cut-out shapes. We loved EVERYTHING and cherish this girls weekend that we will never forget! Thank you so much Oheka for a beautiful, marvelous, and magical stay!Oh! And donβt forget to listen to Blank Space while you are there for some Taylor Swift music video vibes!!!If you enjoyed my review, check out @the_momentsbetweenus on Instagram for more Long Island reviews and travel spots!!
This Restaurant was unbelievable the service was very good l will be back soon

Fabulous Food! Fantastic service! Stunning views!! Absolutely recommend!!!

Went to the Oheka castle restaurant with my family. 2nd time for my family but it was my first time visiting. Met with Gary - the place owner. He was chill and welcoming. He was going around each table, greeting guests. It was an unexpected gesture.Had a great time there.Food was delish.Instagram worthy place.
Went on Valentines Day with my family. Everything was delicious. Portions are just the right size. View is beautiful from the restaurant. Cant wait to go back
The atmosphere and the food were amazing!!!! The service was nice as well although when we went there there were a lot of wasps (during September) and they didnβt really do anything about it except offered us a wasp net thing to zap them. Kind of weird considering this is such a high end place and they expect the customers to kill the flying wasps themselves instead of offering a seat indoor. Anyway, that was the only negative. I highly recommend coming here (whether itβs outdoor or indoor dining). The food is amazing and afterwards you can walk around the castle and explore the garden. There is also a bar if you just want to go for drinks and stay outside their garden.
I just attended a wedding their service was impeccable the place is beautiful the yards are immaculate...
Beautiful ambiance and excellent food.
The dinner was great thanks to Anthony will come back again because of this man
What an experience for a decent price β them out
Ed made our experience unforgettable and the staff was very professional and friendly. I strongly recommend Oheka Castle.
Beautiful grounds. We came because of the crab cakes featured on News 12. They did not disappoint. Probably the best Ive had. Meaty with a wonderful Chipotle sauce. Overall meal was excellent with attentive service. Highly recommended.
Beautiful venue for a party or just to have lunch
This lady kicked my family out while we were taking pictures in the garden. She was very rude and escorted us out yelling at us to leave. She even got the valet to drive our car out and elevated the situation. Turns out she mistook us for another family but she didnβt apologize at all. Horrible experience and ruined my momβs birthday.
We had our wedding ceremony and lunch at Oheka Castle and it was beautiful. The day was more than we could have asked for. Kathy and Kelly were a pleasure to plan, ensured everything went flawlessly, and I really appreciate how flexible they were. The staff was friendly and very responsive as well! Thank you to Chef Daniel who made a delicious custom cake!
Too pricy, spent almost $1000 for a hotel room and a dinner plus two bottle of wine. We stayed at the Whitney Room, very old school and out of date. They donβt have slippers, tooth brush set, no smart TV, and itβs not mentioned in their website. The dinner was very delicious for sure as well as the wine, but we are not offered with the wine at the first place (but it was included in the package) and I asked for it, the manager came to tell me my package not include such, I showed here the package info on their website, finally I was offered with the wine. Whatβs more, when we were about to take photos in one of the large but vacant dinning room for the beautiful castle in the sunset. A lady came in and indifferently asked us to leave because of the COVID-19. Her hand were literally reaching the door handle as she talked to us. I mean why they left the door open if they didnβt want the guest to wonder in, and the dinning room is right by the side of the hall way, connecting the guest room to the restaurant. I am very disappointed and mad when she asked us out!Regardless, the castle itself is gorgeous. But the package donβt worth the price.
My husband and I had the opportunity to travel to Ny for a much needed mini-vacation.We are lovers of architecture, history, and everything grand! The Oheka Castle did not disappoint. From the moment we drove onto the grounds, it was a delectable feast to the eyes. From the well manicured lawns, to the magnificent castle, to the service all was perfect and exceptionally done.We could not take enough pictures to capture the rarity of its beauty. The rooms were immaculate, the beds were cozy and comfortable. The staff were very attentive, accommodating, and eager to please. We had drinks and an appetizer before dinner at the OHK bar. OH MY! We loved their white cranberry cosmo and their lavender colored drink(fig & flower). The presentation was beautiful as well. We shared the bacon macaroni and cheese, we also enjoyed. We had dinner at the restaurant at Oheka Castle in the library. The setting was both romantic and intimate. We ate every morsel of our dinner! The desserts were exceptionally delicious! We had the honor of meeting the owner, Gary Melius, while we dined and chatted briefly. He was charming and welcoming. What a wonderful experience we had.I would recommend you stay at the Oheka Castle if you are traveling to NY! Itll put you back in time. Its a place of inspiration and dreams. We wished to acknowledge Karen who attended us while we dined at the Restaurant. Thank you for being so gracious, accommodating, friendly and going out of your way to make our dining experience special. Also, to Bartender 28, you made the most delectable drinks especially for ones who dont drink often. We were tempted to get another drink! We appreciate your friendliness and hospitality. To the bellman, desk clerks especially the sweet lady with the D name, thank you for being so kind and eager to answer our questions. You all made a special memory even more special. To Mr. Gary Melius, May God continue blessing you in your efforts in preserving such a grand and historical establishment. Thank you for sharing your home to so many. You have wooed us with the grandness of not only the Castle, but with also, your wonderful and caring staff. We hope to visit in the Fall again.
Amazing place, great service and food
Its a wonderfully restored castle with large rooms and a nice restaurant. Our view outside while dining was breathtaking. The breakfast was nice, although you have to ask to see the complimentary part of the menu. Its just a shame that its such a grand castle sitting on only 23 acres of land.
Little old but still impeccable beautiful . The host of the place is very nice and communicates very often with the guests.
Amazing food, service and ambiance. Felt like a king on my birthday
The food and service was great.
Nice grounds cool architecture
Gorgeous wedding venue!
It took me a few days to get in the perfect flow to write this. I wanted to put this review in writing, doing Oheka castle and our stay there as much justice as possible.Arriving at the gates and driving up the driveway, surround by a high hedge, the castle is still out of sight. Then coming from under a stone arch the castle appears in all itβs grandeur. After the valet parked our car we entered the castle, coming in via heavy wooden doors. We were greeted by the magnificent sight of the imperial staircase which leads to the level where the library, restaurant, breakfast area and ballroom are located. From this level we took the elevator to the 4th floor.Long stretching, with beautiful paintings and murals decorated hallways lead us to our room. The Whitney room where we stayed at our first night had high ceilings, again beautiful paintings on the wall, a little seating area, walk in closet, a tv nicely hidden in a cabinet, a very comfortable bed and a formidable bathroom with separate shower, whirlpool and classical European vanity. Our second night we spend in a suite on the same floor as our first night. A breathtaking suite, bigger than our home. The Carnegie suite; how to find the words to describe this marvel.Every window you peak out of has a magnificent view over the castle grounds and give you some interesting angles on the architectural shapes of the castle. Inside there is also plenty to see.The suite has a living/ dining area with fireplace, a separate sitting room, Β½ bathroom, a study, full bathroom, bedroom with a little sitting area and walk in closet. Just like the rest of the castle the suite is decorated with the most sophisticated, characterful furniture and wall art. Being from Dutch origin the paintings with Dutch landscape and facades made me feel extra at home.I booked our stay to honor a special birthday, I wished for my lady to wake up on her birthday at a place suited for a lady, a place where every woman feels like a true lady and every man like a true lord.Oheka Castle and itβs warm and welcoming staff made that wish come true!A special thank you to Steven, who compensated us royally for not being able to enjoy every part of the castle and the hiccup with the film crew. And the restaurant manager, I feel so bad for not asking for your name dear, for taking care of all our hungry and thirsty needs at breakfast and cocktails and dinner at OHK restaurant. We will definitely be back another season, to take in the atmosphere of the rooms weβve missed this time and to roam the grounds.
Beautiful place it was for work not for pleasure but the staff is great and friendly
Not up to par with 5 Star hotels. Lacking proper charm, bitter undertones, and fluidity. The Castle is stunning on the surface, yet festering beneath is a sub-par motel style resort. Elegant, yes, yet lacking a modern touch of 21st century architecture and design. I have stayed at a many a hotel, and this one shall be rated 4 stars out of 5. Beautifully stunning and accommodating, yet missing the elegant charm of a 5 star hotel. You should definitely stay at this beautiful castle style hotel/motel.
What a beautiful place good customer service the food is delicious
Verygpodfoid and amazing drinks the real ones
Its beautiful there. The staff is friendly and its kept clean.
Totally European, totally French! Attention down to every detail. The castle also has a compelling story. Iβm impressed by the passion and the determination the current owner has to save the place. Heβs goal is not to make money. Itβs very clear the way this place is ran. Itβs to preserve and to share this one of a kind place with the general public. What a man!
You shouldnβt list this place as an attraction and then have a creepy, judgmental man guarding the driveway to turn away who he deems unworthy.
Always the best place to go for dinner outside of the city
This is a wonderful gorgeous location. The food was good service was great. I will def return for a tour and to see more of this beautiful hideaway castle
If youre looking for that special place to celebrate an occasion this is the place, or if you want to simply spoil yourself this is still the place. The food is the best on Long Island - delicious and imaginative and the service is first rate. Gary is the quintessential host!
Just recently brought my husband for a couple night stay at the castle. My husband recently underwent open heart surgery. He hadnβt been out of the house in 5 months due to the virus and they affect it would have on his condition Our stay at the Castle rejuvenated him we ate all our meals at the castles restaurant and they catered to my husbands dietary needs We want to thank Gary and his staff for our memorable stay Sophia, Melissa and Tony
Lovely atmosphere, the violinist was superb, dinner was delicious. Service was ok
Took my wife here for Valentines Day dinner. This was our second time at Oheka Castle. This is one of my favorite places for a night out in long island. The overall all experience when you dine at Oheka is hard to beat. From the elegant drive up to the castle, to the luxurious courtyard parking area, to the quaint and rustic main eating area, the ambiance is hard to beat. The food also lives up to the surroundings. My wife and I shared the salmon and the blackened steak and ended it with the profiteroles and a latte. After dinner we had the pleasure to run into the owner, Gary, and had a wonderful conversation with him. It was a memorable night.
Always a pleasure to experience Ohekas delicious dining experience! Cant wait to return to the beautiful ambience, hospitable personnel and exceptional food, personal favorite their homemade Sangria!
