Good ambience and convenient location. Service was really good with polite and courteous staff. I wish I could say the same about food. But unfortunately it wasnt upto my expectation. One would expect a sort of richness of butter and sweetness in Rajasthani cuisine which was kind of absent here. Desserts were below average too. One thing I loved was the Jal Jeera which was the real deal. I believe there are better options if you want a Rajasthani meal.
Highly over priced for thalis.A la carte options are good. But the thali is not upto the mark at the price.
Awesome experience. We just entered this normal looking restuarant because we had nowhere else to go. But what an amazing experience it was ! Really authentic Rajisthani and gujarati food . Ordered gate ka saag, daal , khasta roti and normal roti.A must try - khasta roti. This will take 25 mins to bake. We were so awwed, forgot to click photos.
Superb authentic thalis Maharashtrian, Gujarati, RajasthaniHygienic, beautifully presented
The restaurant is highend and food served is of good quality. However, due to covid restrictions and limited timings; it appeared that the entire menu is not offered vis-a-vis the price of thaali.
Ambience is good. But food taste is average..
Loved the ambiance n food. Staff too very polite...Gujarati mithi daal...too good
Very tasty food... enjoyed everything we ate!!
Loved it.. Good place to enjoy a thali... It was a lil sweet for my taste buds as I love to eat spicy stuff.. But the rest of the gang enjoy what was served to them.. The staff is great and highly responsive and are kind and know what they are serving. The ambience is good.. Theres nothing to complain when you get good food, service and ambience.
Visited Kala Ghoda festival...thats when i Thought of having the Variety of Thali...My target was the very famous Rajasthani Thali. Even ordered of Gujrathi Thali. Intially we were servedΒ with Jaljeera and Chaas.Β 3Β farsans...samosa, Batata Vada and Dhokla were same for all the thalis....One Dal and one Dahi Kadi...Finger licking Gatte ki Sabzi...too good Ker Sangri. Chole with paneer( a weird Combo) tasted ok ok. Roti and Bajra Rotla were served along. The Main dish of Rajasthani cuisine took a long time to come...rather had to ask 2-3 times for thr Dal Batti...it tasted yum no doubts for it. The Gujrathi Thali had Kala Chana...Cabbage vegetable and Aloo mutter. Dal(spicy) and Kadi(sweet) were served along. The rice there was khichadi and steam rice. The desert were fruit custard and gulab Jamun. For the food could give 10/10 but the service was less than 5 on 10. If anyone looking for proper Rajasthani Thali would advice do visit the place for food.
Chetna was always on my bucket list and it definitely didnt disappoint me. we preferred a la carte since we werent in the thali mood. ordered paneer makhanwala and rajasthani ker sangri sabzi which was a delight. bit on the heavier side calorie wise though. i had all the plans to order choorma laddu but cudnt dare to aftr having the main course. personally suggest to order phulkas rather than those heavy parathas. amritsari tikke were average. raita cud hv been less salty. nonetheless enjoyed chetna for sure. perfect for a family dinner but wit a good apetite for rich Gujarati Rajasthani n Maharashtrian food. last one i need to try next time
Superb food as specially Rajasthani Thali & Guju Thali .as well as A-la - carte also. And also they have social distancing, body temperature machine. Great .
I visited Chetana for the first time on a hot afternoon, in the month of May, 32 years ago, in 1988. I was two months away from turning 20. Thereafter started a love affair with this restaurant that has endured without blemish; bereft of stain.Ive eaten here, in the 90s, almost every day. It is here that I grew fat and happy; it is here that me, a non-vegetarian, learned to understand, accept and eventually love vegetarian fare above all.Chetana begun growing aware of its expanding brand quite early in the 90s. It discovered that it could raise costs that people would not only pay, but would happily treat as a positive, essential part of their own personal brands.Yes, the Thali at Chetana continues being expensive; but the restaurant amply redeems itself in its pledge to offer food that is far beyond the ordinary both in produce as well as in quality. This is an astonishing achievement.I shall go back to Chetana as soon as the ongoing pandemic recedes; I shall again eat there, to my fill, even as I recall every moment of nostalgia in its surroundings.I give Chetana 5 Stars. If you visit, I believe that so would you.
Priced high. But I believe its for the prime location. Staffs are very polite and friendly. They serve only thali on lunch but I requested them to serve roti as we cant eat thali. So they agreed and they helped us to select our food items. Food was good. Taste and presentation was pleasing. Ambience is also good. Would love to visit more than once.
We visited Chetana after a long break due to Covid lockdown, and were not so happy with the food. We had ordered for Puri Bhaaji, Aloo Tikki, Veg Biryani, and beer. The potatoes in the puri bhaaji were not cooked fully. The bhaaji was also quite insipid in itself. The biryani was almost like tomato rice. The Aloo Tikki and beer were saving graces.I personally did not like the waiter asking if we wanted a tip to be added on the machine, while doing card payment. Giving a tip is not a mandatory function. I may or may not have wanted to give one, depending on the quality of service received. However, it gets dicey when faced with such a situation.
Gujrati thal, undiya is really delicious and custard was the best part. The staff and hygiene protocols are up to the mark. All in all really good service.
Frankly had great expectations with the food but the amount of water that we drank afterwards was terrific !! So much Soda !! Extremely disappointed !!
Its good and ambient...with special thali fulfilling all hunger pangs with a mix of gujarati and Maharashtrian dishes.
Very bad experience...Recently I went to Chetana in dec,2020 and the food quality was very bad. I ordered a rajasthani thali and it was very bland and nothing like authentic rajasthani food. The food quality has degraded very much in the recent years and I am very disappointed for receiving such a bad experience.
Good value for money.
Must try copper chimney and Ayub in the next lane
Excellent service, delicious food.
Food quality is worst. They serve Uncooked rice
The place to go if you want to experience Gujarati and Rajasthani Thali.
Food was awesome....enjoyed Thali after long time!!!
Was recommended so went for lunch. It apparently specialises in Thali so we had the Kala Ghoda. It was really delicious, a selection of tasty dishes. The staff kept walking around with pots of food to top up your trays. The Pokhara were especially good. Highly recommend.
Good food.
Superemely good place.to enjoy food and service.
Spicy food but if u ask nicely they will give you options. Very polite and cooperative manager. Decent thali. On the simpler side but satisfying.
Tasty food, polite staff and quick service..!!
Nice food
Chetana has been there before we even got our independence.& Has been doing a commendable job in the field of Arts and Crafts & brought about an awareness of the rich cultural heritage of India. Its been one of the first ever to hold an Art exhibition of the top artists of today. So obviously the food too speaks of the varied richness of India.
Staff is very rude, parking is paid, food is below average and price is very high
Ambience is good. Captain is unhygenic. Food taste is average compared to the costing.
The restaurant manager Anil was very kind to let me shop at the book store even after the shop was closed. I told him I came to visit all the way before going to the airport on my last day in India, he was very attentive and let me get the books and singing bowl which I really wanted to buy before leaving India. The first time when I came here for lunch was also an amazing experience. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!!!
This was my introduction to North Indian Thalis and couldnt have been a better place. You enjoy the finest flavours, all you can eat and topped off with gulab jamun (again all you can manage!) This seems to be an institution and Id recommend to anyone especially if youre visiting and want to find an unmissable dining experience in the downtown area.
Ive been a regular here because of the excellent food quality. But the staff needs to learn a few lessons on courtesy. They are not discourteous but for a prime restaurant, they have to improve.
Outstanding as ever...
Loved the food. Good variety in Indian desserts. Delicious thali food
Delicious food and great ambiance
Great place, amazing food, polite staff. Lot of variety. I definitely recommend it.
Lovely ambience. Food is awesome, choice thali cuisines and a wide range of snacks. They have a well stocked bar too. Service is friendly and efficient. In winter months do try their undhiyo.
The best Thali in South Mumbai. They have a few vegetables that are constant and keep changing a few items here and there. Been a regular for week day lunches over the years. Great food always.
Hopeless staff , worst serving, same test in all dishes ,we have ordered 3-4 different main course n they all had same masala test just difference was name , uncooked starters n main course ,Experience was a disaster. And hight was staffs unprofessional behavior .Dirty dishes , Horrible toilet , congested place . It was all bad. We left all food as it was . They really ruined my dinner with family.
A variety of thalis- Rajasthani, Gujarathi and a hybrid of both. The food is standard fare, nothing exceptional but the restaurant is comfortable and the Thali pricing ensures place 8s always available
I love this place. Their high tea is also recommended. The view one gets from this place is spectacular.
Hi friends, my husband had heard a lot about this vegetarian thali restaurant called CHETANA at kala ghoda, mumbai and had been wanting to dine here for a long time now. So tonight we ventured out to this place. And what a disappointment it was. Weβll never ever visit this place again. My husband chose the Gujarati thali and I opted for Maharashtrian thali. Starters are the same whichever of the 4 thalis you choose. 2 of the 3 starters served were dry and stale: mini batata wada or potato balls which were good, patrel and dhokla were so dry it seemed as if they were out of the microwave oven, the vegetables were not upto the mark.Except for itβs manager Mr. Anil who was so very courteous and ready to help us. Twice he went into the kitchen himself to get us fresh patrel and then again to get us dahi kadhi with extra baghaar and garnishing, which made all the difference for the rice to have.So that one star is for Mr. Anilβs service, otherwise only 2 stars from me for this so very hyped Chetana thali restaurant.Other vegetarian thali restaurants you can try is golden star thali at Charni Road near saifee hospital and rajdhani thali at market city mall in kurla. These 2 are not so grand looking but the food is awesome if that interests you more.
Its ok. I had tried rajasthani thali here which was good but nothing megical. Little costly.
Regional and state specific food is served with good quality and amazing service.
The taste is good...but not worth the cost.
Tempting and yummy food
Too expensive.. only different types of thali available.. taste is ok.. sweets were delicious. My opinion.. donβt try if you are on budget trip
Definitely good.Hospitality great. But not worth the amount. The pricing is as per the location.
Good cozy place, mouth littering food, but pure veg, wonderful service, best location, all in one, one must try....
Rajasthani and gujrati thali is great. Little expensive for a thali restaurant but the location is what makes it expensive
Good food worth for money ...excellent service
Quick service. Average thali. Not so authentic rajasthani and gujrati thali.Loved jal jeera.Seating arrangement slight conjusted.
We had the Maharashtrian thali. The food was really good. Great variety and taste. Service is super friendly as well. At βΉ520, it is a somewhat expensive for a thali. The only reason I give 4 points is that the toilet is not in the best condition, and the kitchen is too near the toilet.
Excellent Thalis- Rajasthani and Gujarati. Went with office colleagues for lunch.
Amazing thaliβs! Treat yourself. But you may need to skip lunch ;) friendly staff too
Wow - this was a wonderful lunch destination. A delicious veg thali with excellent service to much. A great choice.
I went as per the reviews but i didnt find anything special at this placeAt such an outstanding location with such good gentry and at that price tag, thali could have been way betterA very average experienceNot up to the expectations
This is the best place if you want to have thali.. be it gujarati. maharashtian or rajasthani... please have pakoda and tea of you go after 4..
Good veg thali and efficient service in a clean atmosphere.Unfortunately I wont be going back because of the way the manager and a couple of servers tried to push their cookbook on me during and after my meal. Their thalis, which range from 499-650 rs, arent the cheapest, and after paying that amount, one should be allowed to eat in peace without the employees pushing their goods like street hawkers while Im trying to enjoy my food. I also think they were doing this to me because they assumed I was a tourist, which makes their behavior even worse. Its a shame, because the rest of the service, especially the head waiter, was excellent, and the food is really good.
Nice food... Quiet place... Good Ambience... Kind staff
Very costly and the food quality is also not upto the mark
Excellent place for veg thali lovers .Gujrati Rajasthani and Maharastrian thali available.Yummy taste.
A very good traditional food from various places, atmosphere is very friendly, staff is very cooperative
Have always loved this place since the 1990s and I visited this place after a very long time. Good to see that Chetna has evolved over the years without compromising on the food . Kudos to you
One of the most stylish places serving Thali. Theres a small bookstore as well in there. Good food. Decent prices for the location. Bang opposite Kala Ghoda. Washroom is not that great though. Parking is at the Kala Ghoda parking spot. Near to Jehangir Art gallery. Many office goers come here. Multiple Thali options available. Been here many times.
Superb Gujarati/ Rajasthani / Marathi style tasty veg food served... rates are little exclusive though...
Taste was not so good, manageable. You cant say that u really enjoyed the food. Even if you order for thali, they expect you to finish fast, they serve accordingly. Items are repeated only once and you hav to keep calling if you want to repeat more.I feel samrat and status are much better
Good variety of Thali, loved the Maharashtrian Thali. Good service too
Best authentic Gujarati, Maharashtrian and Rajasthani thaalis!
Ambience is good. Services are quick. As far as test is concern, not satisfied.
Delicious food in par with the price.
Quality is slowly going down!Suggestion to management-Pls serve- warm Puran Polis- fresh Salads- soft Phuolkasand keep Chutneys n Aachars in covered containers/utensils+ves - Polite/helpful staff
Good food...rates too high
Really nice food and amazing staff!
