I visit the restaurant for their monthly masterclass this time centred around Italian cuisine. ‘The Italian Job’, a name given for the masterclass conducted by Sous Chef Jomal Lopas consisted of simple & easy to make dishes like Burrata Caprese, Basil Pesto, Chicken Cacciatore, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Gnocchi with Tomato Sauce and Sage, last & my absolute favourite, Tiramisu.Chef Jomal Lopas was patient throughout the class and guided us through the entire process. To be honest, I attended the masterclass as it had Tiramisu on the menu & I am a baker, but after watching the simple & easy steps to cook up these Italian dishes, I’m definitely going to try my hand at it.Cheers to the entire team for putting up such a wonderful class. Highly recommended to keep an eye & attend their upcoming masterclasses.Note: The masterclass is conducted on the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Artisan - The stylish Parisian Bistro at Sofitel, BKC. Lovely setting serves Exquisite delicacies. They have come up with a new menu last month. Some of the Dishes include Eggs Benedict/Orange and Hazelnut French toast. Mains do try the Duck Confit/New Zealand Lamb Chops. Desserts are amazing - must try the Banana Crepe. Ambiance is eclectic. Features a good range of Wine. Had a chance to Visit the place yesterday to try some dishes from the new menu over a couple of wines and some good Jazz music.Started with A rose wine followed by a white wine. Coming to the Soup - The all Time Classic FRENCH ONION. Wow, chef has nailed it. Anytime for this. Its a classic made out of either meat stock /Onion. Lovely texture topped with Croutons and cheese and a large piece of bread. Stock was the key. Taste was amazing. Served hot. Got the sweetness of the caramelized onion. Comte melted on top. No complaints.Salad - small tasting portion of Pear and Arugula Salad. Full marks. Had the flavours. Sweet/tangy at the same time balance of salt from the feta was just perfect. Arugula/Sun dried tomatoes/Walnuts/Balsamic dressing was just perfect. Fresh and perfect. No complaints.Tapas Section - we asked for One Veg and One Non Veg (small portion)---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Veg it was the Mezze which had Hummus/Baba Ganoush and Marinated olives with Pita. Hummus had a good texture. A bit rusty but nice balance of tahini and olive oil. Baba Ganush was made well with a beautiful texture and went well with the Pita. Was a bit disappointed with the Marinated Olives (seem to have lost the firmness) Chef please look into it as pointed out. Overall a good dish for the vegetarian.New Menu has the SANDWICH section - asked the chef to get one of his Choices. Mumbai Masala it was. The highest selling at Artisan. Grilled to perfection. Potatoes mashed with Mumbai masala. Beet root/tomatoes/Bell pepper and a layer of cheddar cheese melted. Served with French fries. A delight to have this. Tasted good. Not too spicy and overpowering. Just what the 5 star standard needs as per the guests.Spanish Chicken and Pepper Flautas - Flautas (Spanish for Flutes) its basically rolled up wheat flour tortillas stuffed with minced chicken with a bit of pepper/oregano. Its like a puff pastry one can call rolled. Topped with avocado and Sour Cream. A bit rich and heavy. Subtle in taste and perfect Tapas. Go for this dish.Lasagne - a classic Italian dish (pasta) to be served hot. This is baked. We did not go for the Non Vegetarian. Opted for the Veg version which had a stuffing of ratatouille, and vegetables like zucchini/mushrooms/olives topped with cheese. Tasted amazing. This is flat pasta (possibly the oldest of pastas) several layers of lasagne sheets. Tasted good with the Neapolitan sauce. Overall the texture and taste was perfect. Another dish from the new menu.Desserts - Crepe (Banana) wow this was a killer. Made to perfection. Sprinkle of sugar on top and Blueberry giving that Tangy touch. This was stuffed with caramelised Banana maple syrup. Served with Cream and French exotic Fruits like Kiwi/Plum/Pear. Absolutely divine.Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Ice cream and Chocolate sauce- presented well. Not very sweet. I could not try it but heard it was fantastic. Going by my partners word full marks.Overall - This place has the class. There is a lovely sitting outside. Unfortunately due to rains we could not enjoy the beautiful outside sitting. Artisan stands out. Overall Winner by miles. Do try out. Do peep in the cigar lounge and get the British Feel. Cheers.

The French Cafe at the Sofitel BKC recently introduced board games. From Monopoly to Scrabble, to various card games like Uno, there was something for everyone. We had a blast enjoying their menu which had a soup, sandwich and dessert along with the board games.Artisans is wonderful with an indoor and outdoor seating option. The staff was very polite and quick and the pricing seemed so reasonable for some memorable time with friends.Best way to spend some quality time with friends and family alike.

Terrible service, waiters are not courteous and everyone seems to have a morose face. The place reeks of cigarettes. The smoking area is supposed to be outside but the smell of smoke is hanging thick in the air.Seating is not great. It has bar seating and a few chairs, but not a comfortable place for a solo coffee drinker. But oh my, wonderfully soft and delicious tea cake that came with the risteretto which itself was creamy and strong. The veg caprese sandwich was good however the avocado in it was raw.So decent food, and terrible service. I’d highly recommend the coffee though.

My visit to Sofitel was for Momammad Ali Road Festival which was a breathtaking experience.I had great time eating so many delicacies. Me being a small eater, was feeling really heavy but just couldnt resist such tempting food and I was really stuffed,so decided to have some Green Tea at Artisan which is at the Lobby Level and easily accessible. Artisan also has an outside seating area which is big and nice.I must mention the Green Tea which was Orange & Mango flavored ended my Thursday evening with a big smile. It had a very good refreshing flavor.Service was also very good, had a chance to check out their creativity on Cakes, would definitely love to try our some bites, specially those Macroons at Artisan soon!!!See you soon Artisan :)

Rather royal with its high-back chairs and an overall exquisitely assembled ambiance, Artisan greets you to its tastefully done french decor...Though my friends Mocha Frappe was too sweet for my taste, she did enjoy it. The barista did a fine job with my affogato and I relished the romance of hot and cold in my glass. The churros were crunchy outside as well as inside, which was a bit of a let-down, since I was expecting a crunchy exterior guarding the gooey soft center. The Opera was beautiful with its nutty and chocolate layers. Quite flavorful with its pistachio soul. Though I have tasted a better version of Opera elsewhere, it wouldnt be fair to compare, as the one that haunts my senses has layers of coffee creme, thin rum soaked sponge cake and chocolate. Since the language that these two Operas speak are quite different, on its own, the pistachio version is quite commendable for the way Artisan assembles this one.We also tasted one of their special desserts which brought together coffee, chocolate and orange in a mousse preparation. It had an elegant texture and tasted divine.Amongst chocolates, we tried dark chocolate drunk on cognac which was sinfully good. The milk chocolate with sambuca at its heart was a nice little gem too.Since this was an evening coffee visit, I would love to return someday to dig into their food menu. As of now, it seems like Artisan indeed knows its art well.

Artisan at Sofitel(which is owned by the French Accor group) brings a genuine French Bistro experience to the table. This is one of the worlds most loved and popular cuisines by people who know French food. The new Bistro menu has authentic French dishes made the way they are supposed to be for the French. No Indian adaptations and tinkering with the flavor. Chef Manav Koul who has extensive experience working with French food was all too .
