Great place to chill🎊A big open space in the noisy city of Mumbai.Plenty of young people do sport, cricket, socialize.Greatest spot to take pictures of the surrounding buildings like Court or Clock Tower. Also great space to escape a little bit from the honking, buzzing traffic and just sit down and absorb Mumbai atmosphere.
Amid the chaos, noise, cars and pollution in central Mumbai, you can find a silver lining of peace. Next to the University of Mumbai and recognizable by the clock tower, are the famous maidan. The word means field and they are huge gardens with some grass and vegetation, but mostly consisting of sand. You will see many walkers and sportsmen here, especially for a sport that drives them crazy: cricket.
A big ground where you can play what you want not so much crowded when I visited
This place so huge and full playfully. Biggest ground in mumbai fort. I joined this place from 11 years of my age. We can see here official cricket matches. And its so crowded on sunday
Located near Churchgate, One Of the best Cricket Ground. The Pitches and Ground Mostly uses by college tournaments, club tournaments or club practices overall ground for local cricketers.Pitch is chargeable and well maintained by the ground authority.Overall love this ground alot, memories from here I will never forget.
The Oval Maidan is a large Grade I recreational ground situated in South Mumbai, India. It is so named because of its oval shape and is situated just south of Churchgate. It is a popular recreation ground, with the most popular sports played there being cricket and football. The ground measures 22 acres in area. Political rallies and religious functions are banned in the maidan.
For lovers of the great outdoors, Oval Maidan makes up in views what it lacks in foliage. Mumbai’s counterpart of Big Ben, the Rajabai Clock Tower, and the graceful facade of the Western Railways Headquarters, offer plenty of fodder for elevated thought. If the book gets boring, gaze idly at one of the many simultaneous amateur cricket matches that are always on here.

Its an open ground - great for sports. There are parts prepped for cricket, along w nets for tennis, badminton and goals for football. Gets busy from 4-9pm as football classes are held there. Can get very hot, take lots of water. However, tents set up that people can sit under, but just carry own mats.

#THE_OVAL_GROUND.In a crowded city like Mumbai, rarely you would be able to see such huge grounds and when it comes to such grounds, oval maidan is definitely a must visit place. The location is very prominent and is located very close to University. In case you happen to be a cricket freak and interested in playing the same, then this place would be the right choice. The place is like an open ground with lots of pitches and is well maintained and free for public. In fact when one visits this place one can always see a group of budding cricketers practicing on the ground. The place can be easily accessed via public transportation and one can bring their own vehicle if they wish to.

The Oval Maidan is a large Grade I recreational ground situated in South Mumbai, India.[1] It is so named because of its oval shape and is situated just south of Churchgate. It is a popular recreation ground, with the most popular sports played there being cricket and football. The ground measures 22 acres (8.9 ha) in area.[1] Political rallies and religious functions are banned in the maidan.[2]HistoryUntil the early 20th century the vast expanses of the Oval Maidan, Azad Maidan, Cooperage Groundand Cross Maidan formed the area known as Esplanade.[3]Until the late 20th century the ground was owned and run by the state government and was very poorly maintained. It was frequented by beggars, prostitutes and drug peddlers. Finally, in 1997 the Oval-Cooperage Residents Association (OCRA) was formed as a public charitable trust set up by the residents of the area. OCRA petitioned the Maharashtra government to maintain the Oval maidan. The Maharashtra government did not respond to the petition, leading the group to take it to the Bombay High Court. The Court ruled in their favour, forcing the government to either maintain the maidan or hand it over to OCRA which it subsequently did.The OCRA then went about fencing the ground and building a jogging course around the periphery. A lane which cut through the diameter of the ground was metalled to facilitate a smoother thoroughfare. For a few years the former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar operated the Elf cricket academy to the north of the ground.

Very beautiful and peaceful place 🤩
Best the place night light
Oval maidan is a Nice place for playing, sports and running
A time pass zone if you have nothing else to do. Almost every day there would be cricket matches. I could witness some south african teams playing too. Locals come in and play among the same players on a makeshift pitch, so you can watch multiple games at the same time. But if you take eye off one match, you may not notice that ball coming your way. That danger is there.Evening the ground turns out to be poo-place for the dogs, especially around the jogging track. Such responsible Indians. Not many place to sit and watch the matches.A good long jogging track!Parking outside on the road is quite risky as I saw a ball planting right on a Etios windshield and shattering it. God knows who pays for these!!
Far better than Azad maidan if you compare the wicket. The outfield is fast and some parts are uneven too. You can definitely enjoy a good game of cricket.
Big ground near Mantralaya
A pretty place to relax and for walks too!
Very silent place after 1 pm if there are no official cricket matches going on here. In case you do not find a calm spot due to the cricket matches, walk around the circumference to the point which directs towards Babasaheb Ambedkar statue. Here you will find a small garden with good shade and day tourists can eat their lunch boxes here.
The ground is good but too crowded especially on Sundays. If u want to play cricket perfect ground
Nice place.Full of cricket. Also the shortcut across, which takes one from University to KC college is a Godsend
