Lovely chairs and benches spread all over the garden for relaxing and meditation. Open gym for the fitness freaks tooExcellent during spring time. Flowers in full bloom.

On Google, it is mentioned that the garden opens at 4:00 pm but the guard made us wait outside for 1.5 hours and denied entry. If it does not open at 4 then they must change the timigs on Google search as well.Digusting and rude behaviour. We have come from so far after checking the timings, and now we are made to wait here.

What Makes It AwesomeThere is a huge botanical garden, Bombay Port Trust (or Sagar Upvan), hidden away in Colaba, with a view of the sea, a glass-covered cactus garden and huge trees with butterflies hovering around. This is a 12-acre park, with huge green lawns, beautiful trees and through it a wide running track covering a distance of 650 metres all the way around and wonderment that such a huge green space exists Mumbai and walked our way through.

Giving this two stars not because its a clean and well maintained park. It is. But I visited here after sun down and was appalled by the absence of basic decent lighting in the park. The entire park and jogging track was dark! I want to give this park 4 stars, I do. I mean this place is located at an upscale area and even charges an entrance fee. That is why it is such a travesty for such a management to ignore a very basic facility like lighting. There were more than a few stretches where I actually didnt even feel very safe. There are two security guards right at the entrance of the park, but not even ONE inside the park where they are really needed! The washroom was also very basic and in need of a thorough cleaning. This park could have been a lot. Hence my disappointment. Its like they dont even care about female joggers.

It used to be well kept and beautiful at one time but now its an overgrown weed garden. Moreover it used to be a safe haven for budding photographers to click beautiful botanical flora but now even they dont have an easy access to it as they have made photography charges 500 inr. A photography student doesnt have that much. I dont think I shall ever be going there again. All those beautiful memories of going there early, meditating on the grass, clicking pictures will remain just what they are, distant memories

Well maintained & landscaped! A favourite for morning & evening walkers of the Colaba & cuffe parade residences as well people from adjoining areas! Has open air gym, walking track ,seating arrangements, green house, lots of trees identified with their botanical names, toilets drinking water cooler. There is scope for improvement in better lighting around the garden& ladies toilet, preventing water stagnation on the walkway & removal of moss during the rains!

Nice and calm environment. Very large area. Large mounds, gazebos places to sit in groups, do activities, etc. Good place for walking/jogging in morning & evening. Interesting landscape design to explore along the main walkway. Variety of species trees, plants and butterflies. There is Canctus plant house, medicinal plants zone, etc. There are few very old banyan trees too. Sea-touch. Places to sit along the seashore (inside the fense, of course!) And to enjoy the waves. Well-maintained, good supportive staff. Good place for Botany or landscape case studies. Minimal entry fees collected for maintainance.

Sagar Upvan is the Port Trust Gardens at Colaba just beyond Sassoon Docks. This is not a tourist attraction or a must see place on a visitors Mumbai itinerary. Its a fair sized local garden with a decent selection of trees and shrubs, popular with morning and evening walkers from the neighbourhood, and a good place for kids to run around in. Entrance is INR5. Open from 06:30 - 11:00AM and 16:30 - 19:00PM.

MPT also called the sagar upvan garden colaba, has a forest like garden..great path to enjoy the serenity of the greens whilst wnjoying the walk. For a little break from the walk, just sit by the sea or aong/ dance/ play soft music below one of the enclosures,At 7.30 am on a sunday morning, found Some people even taking a nap on the grass ground ;Yet some more enjoying a game of cards; some singing to a little audience. Then there was the Tree Walk Group, nearly 25 nature lovers very keenly interested in the beautiful collection of trees, both Natives as well as imported ones from Indonesia, South America..The Trees include a super Kaju tree, which one would usually find in Goa.You find some local birds , butterflies, colorful insects too.The surrounding areas boast of some old buildings of colonial architecture and heritage structures; overlooking the garfen as well as the sea.The place can be easily reached by bus/ train/ taxi, and mustvbe included as must visit when touring Mumbai.
