One of the best and popular place in mumbai, maharashtra to visit with family, friends. Also its very best place for morning and evening walking and excercise place. The climate of this place is very good and cool. Also very good for kids and students. The Hanging Gardens, in Mumbai, also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens, are terraced gardens perched at the top of Malabar Hill, on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park. They provide sunset views over the Arabian Sea and feature numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals. The park was designed and laid out in 1881 by Ulhas Ghapokar over Bombays main reservoir, some say to cover the water from the potentially contaminating activity of the nearby Towers of Silence. When seen from the air, the walkway inside the park (Hanging Gardens Path), spell out the letters PMG (Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens) in cursive.

It is a boon to have a green patch in the middle of the most busy city. The City that never sleeps - Mumbai. To have a green space in Mumbai is sparse. That too having it in South Mumbai - its s real boon.Hanging Gardens is situated on the Western side of Malabar Hill. For centuries this place must have been visited by almost all the school students. It is a picnic spot for school outings and even perfect for a family picnics.Hanging Garden is also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens were first built in 1881. Designed by Ulhas Ghapokar. In 1921 the Garden was renovated to the present srate.Hanging Garden is built over one of Bombay’s main water reservoir to protect it from getting polluted, particularly by the nearby Towers of Silence. Primarily the Garden is dedicated to Pherozeshah Mehta, a prominent Parsi political leader and lawyer.Pherozeshah Mehta also, known as The Lion of Bombay, because if his vast contributions to the city. He was the President of Bombay Municipality four times (1884, 1885, 1905 and 1911).Its a beautiful landscape with greenery all around, well maintained by BMC.A soft classical instrumental pipe music keeps on playing.Well designed, sitting place to relax and discuss in a group maintaining social distancing.Clean, filtered drinking water is provided. Dust bins are situated at various locations.Rest room is also available. An earnest request to all who are visiting. Please maintain cleanliness, please dont litter. Keep the area clean it is for our good only. Our children must receive a good environment. When BMC is taking so much pain to maintain the greenery, as a decent citizens we must help them to keep the area clean.People do visit for jogging & good to avail Vitamin D through only means - SUN.It also has a Oxygen area. All sorts of trees are planted. Just enjoy the scenery & greenery, breathe the clean air in the midst of the busy city. The garden is open to public.During day apply Sun screen lotion on your body, if your skin is sensitive. Will post evening photos next time.

I have previously visited this place. Very good for few hours relaxation. As its close to the central point of the city, its easier to access. The garden is clean and nicely maintained. It is totally free of cost. You can go there by taxi, cab or bus (stop name: Kamla nehru park bus stop).Timing due to covid:Morning: 7 am to 11amEvng: 4pm to 9pmThe view of marin drive and the city is very elegant from the top. One problem is... No one is allowed to take food inside. There is also no heavy food (like for lunch, dinner) stall. The small shops are also too costly. Though those can be available within 1.5 km radius. If you come by train, drop at grant road and hire a taxi...

This is a very high place, on top of Malabar Hill. The garden itself is nothing to write about, but is expansive, and a place where people come to stretch their legs and have a breath of fresh air. Lots of pathways through the garden. There is some work going on in a couple of layouts but otherwise it is neat and colourful. Seasonal spring butterflies have arrived, so if you have the patience, you can get some good butterfly images.

This is a very interesting place, not necessarily the gardens themselves so much as the very interesting neighbour. The gardens have been built over the top of a city freshwater supply. There are roses and pagodas to view and the gardens are free to enter. There are public toilets on site that cost 10p to use.Next to the gardens you can see vultures circling over land. That land is the burial ground of the Farsi religion. It is called a burial well ...... whereas it is really a pit. Following the death of a Farsi, a family member and a priest take the deceased to the pit, strip the body and place the body in the pit for wild animals to consume. Our guide explained all of this to us and it was absolutely fascinating albeit you cannot see the pit or the bodies from the hanging gardens but you can see the vultures circling in the distance.Fascinating ......

Hanging Gardens is 138 years old garden located on the western side of the Malabar Hills. It is a man-made terrace garden built on multi-level stone terraces owing to its name. The garden is covered with numerous trees, shrubs, and an array of colorful flowers. There are many hedges carved into various shapes of animals. One would love to spend some cherishable time in silence with themselves or friends and family.Although it is one of the favorite spots of the locals but it is still quite calm and away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. People like to come here for morning walks, jogs, and exercise as the environment is cleaner and greener than other areas.People come here to rejuvenate amidst the lap of nature and watch one of the perfect sunsets of Mumbai behind the enormous Arabian Sea. Not only that, but the place gives excellent views of South Mumbai, its beaches, and the very elegant Queen’s Necklace. If you come in the morning, then you can enjoy the views of the tall buildings in the foggy days, and as the day passes and the dusk draws upon, the views of the city lights will astound you with their charm. You can capture all these scenarios in a frame and hang it on the wall of your perfect experiences.

I went there in October. It was average green there. Dont go there on sunny, youll burn. Also I dont have a single clue why it is called the hanging garden. Its just a open flat garden, with some shade in the corners. I honestly think the Kamla Nehru Park just opposite to it, is much better place. A lot of tall trees, shade and some good points for photography, which gives a good look of the mumbai skyline. All in all a 10 min visit is enough for this place.
