I visited this zoo for the first time and I was totally amazed to see how beautifully it is developed. But sadly there were some places which are still under construction. I got to see different animals like tiger, deer, elephant, bear, hippopotamus, aquatic birds, etc. It also has a cafe inside which provides light snacks and beverages. It also has a museum. Do visit with your kids.

Lets start with some good points, place is well maintain, the cleanliness is appreciable. Layout of the animals is good. Security and staff are nice. Now some negatives, under maintainance and lots of area are restricted currently, animals are not visible due to large area used for animal habitat. Size is relatively small.

Honestly speaking , They have improved the animal enclosures with glass enclosures , Had the opportunity to visit the park After reopening post lockdown. There is an Elephant, A Leopard 🐆 , An Indian Fox , A Hyena , A sloth bear , Two pairs of hippopotamus and the main attraction the Tigers .The bird aviarys closed .The Penguins are there too to welcome you which are more active than ever. The park has been improved from last time . And there are constructions going on for various enclosures that will house Lions 🦁 , Giraffe 🦒 zebras and also a white lion thats what I heard. And theres also a Food canteen which has been newly put up .And last but not the least the gardens are beautifully maintained with lush trees and great grasses .Here are the pics for references.

Jijamata Udyan is spread over a vast land of 48 acres. It was originally called Raanichi Baug after its British name Victoria Gardens and is also currently known as Veermata Jijabai Udyan & Zoo.Jijamata Udyan Zoo is home to many animals including deer, elephants, hippo, blue bull and many more. You will get to see crocodiles, pythons in the zoo. It is home to birds belonging to 24 different species. The recently opened Penguin exhibit is winning the hearts of all visitors.Walking through the zoo to view all animal exhibits, you will be shaded by huge trees. This place is quite decent, not so many but there are few animals, like tiger, cheetah, elephant, hippocampus, etc. Good facility of public bathroom, separate for both ladies and gents, garden is also nice, the timing of the place is from morning 9 to evening 6. In this place there are one religious place of Muslims I. E. Dargah Of Hazrat Haji Peer & Jalal Shah Peer, Dargah is just awesome and the environment of the place is super calm... I was in love with that place, and yeah one more thing if youre planning to make a trip of the Zoo so the charge of the Ticket Or Passes of a person is ₹50. But you will definitely like that place specially if youre nature lover. Make a visit there ❤

The zoo is currently undergoing a major revamp. So quite a few animals are off-display, at the moment. However, whatever parts are revamped are simply fabulous! It is definitely worth even going to take a glimpse of the partially revamped place once, before the zoo gets a fully new look. Thats because its not the animal enclosures that are being revamped but the whole experience of a visit to a zoo is getting redefined! In a couple of months, it will be on par with or better than, any wildlife park anywhere in the world! ❤

Went on the first Sunday after the reopening post lockdown. It wasnt very crowded and I was quite impressed with the set up. (When I had last visited around 25 years ago as a child it was quite dilapidated) there was one elephant a bear couple of hippos, jackals, heyena, butterfly garden , penguin enclosure, sambals leopard and tigers (we didnt get to see tiger) that I can recollect. Do take a cap and an umbrella as it does get quite hot and sunny during the day . There is parking available and tickets are rs. 50 per adult. There is also a snacks area where open air seating is available and light snacks like samosas, sandwiches and ice creams and cold drinks are available.

Well maintained for the price. Barely 8-10 species on display. Most enclosures are under construction. The authorities should take action against people not wearing a mask like the group of imbeciles in the picture below. Infact such people should be put in one of the empty enclosures for 2 hours and publicly shamed by letting other tourists take pictures of them.

Overall an okay Zoo. However it becomes a must visit if you have not seen penguins. One of the only zoos in the India which is the home of Humboldt Penguins. The Zoo has a variety of other animals as well . A pro tip if you are visiting is to reach the place early morning and go to the penguin exhibit. If you visit in afternoon or evening, due to crowds the guards only let you stay for 2-3minutes in the Penguin exhibit!!

Great place for kids to enjoy wild life. As of now the Zoo is re-building and will take atleast 1-2yrs before its finally finished but it still is a good place for kids to learn as well as enjoy. The new enclosures are good for animals as well as provide good viewing for general public. The area of the zoo is filled with gardens with a lot of information available on the flora and fauna. The animals on display are: Indian Elephant, Sloth Bear, Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Hipps, Deers (Barking, Swamp and spotted), Tortoise & Turtles, Aviary (Closed currently due to Covid), the famous Humbolt Penguins and a few more. The star of the show undoubtedly is the Tiger: Nice, big, healthy Royal Bengal Tiger who is quite active in the mornings. As with all the zoos, the best time to visit is mornings as the animals are awake. The ticket rates are Rs. 50 per adult and Rs. 25 per child. You can take your own water and eatable inside or there are a few places which sell Samosas, Pizzas, Pop Corn, cold drinks, tea/coffee etc at fair prices. There are washrooms available inside the zoo. There is parking for 2 & 4 wheelers (Rs. 20 per car).Overall a good place to visit. Will take 3-4hours to complete the whole Zoo...

The place is nice for family visit and spending quality time, however if you are expecting zoo to be on the lines of other major zoos in country then you will be highly disappointed. There is some revamping in the zoo, govt is taking it seriously now and new animals are going to be introduced as of now zoo contains leopard, hippos, jackal, hyena, sloth bear, Indian cobra, python, rattle snake, turtles , deers, and aquatic birds which are major attractions. The zoo is not worth visiting but you should visit it once, hope it get revamped soon and raised to higher standards

Its more of a park than zoo. Very few animals and birds are kept here. Main attractions obviously are penguins. However they were not even moving when we visited. There was a TV by the side of enclosure which showed how they play etc . It was supposedly there resting time ! No photography allowed inside.Other prominent animals are hippopotamus, crocodile (saw only one) , few birds and spotted deer. There are more animals on display outside the zoo than inside.Water bottles and food items are not allowed which is a real dampener. Tupperware bottles are allowed however. Its a good move to keep the zone plastic free however there has to be adequate facilities inside which is missing.Another thing missing was vehicle tour which are common in these kind of places. A non polluting tour vehicles is a good options considering the zoo is spread over a large area.Good place for kids, there is a play area inside the zoo.
