I have had one of the best ever south Indian food in Mumbai, Thanks to the chef for keeping it authentic and classy at the same time.We ordered for:Red rice appam: This was something I havent tried before and It came with stew which was super rich in flavours with loaded vegetables. It was light on stomach and yummazing for soul. Stew is highly recommended from the place.Vada Rasam: 4 to 5 Vada came with generous amount of Rasam. Quality and quantity were totally justifying the price However I already had better Rasam in the past. It was low on spices and little more sour then what was required.Chettinad Paneer parotta: This was the best and complete package. 2 big sized parotta came with Chettinad paneer which was spicy gravy with most succulent paneer you can ask for!! Paneer quantity was extremely generous and I could see that in every bite.Idli platter: In case you love to experiment with your food then this is something every Idli lovers must try. Total 4 big sized idli arrived with Sambhar and chutney.Chutney out here was lil different in look and taste. Sambhar wasnt over of spices and overall had a great flavours. This place totally turned out unexpectedly so well!! Really looking forward to order again!!

Madras Diaries...!This is the one of the restaurant who are serving best south indian food. They are taking all the necessary precautions and safety in the current situation while preparing and packaging of the food.I will recommend the following optionsPaneer Chettinad with Paratha - This is perfect blende of spices and flavours. Usually Chettinad gravy comes with tangy flavours and sometimes restaurant over power it but this one is just perfect and goes very well with the Paratha.Kerala Parathas with Korma - The Korma gravy is coconut based and gives authentic flavours of the region. Love this combination and try this when it is hot. Love it.When you have to try authentic south india food you can definitely try this option you will not disappointed.Overall ratingsFood - 5/5Packaging - 5/5Value for money - 5/5

Cheese Dosas are always the best option to go for when in doubt for a good healthy snack. We ordered Cheese Jalapeno, Long Crispy dosa, properly packaged and received to us.It was crunchy, along with Chutney and Sambhar, definitely the taste was different than normal local places, just like South. Then we also had some flaky, good looking parathas made of maida and Chettinad Paneer gravy which was spicy, due to kalimiri in it. But had lots of paneer peices inside.Loved the taste and parceling package, we enjoyed the South Indian Meal from Madras Diaries. Good to go!

Its been a real long time where I wanted to eat dosa and hence my friend suggested me to order from this outlet. As I stay in Bandra, I was knowing about this outlet very well and hence was ordering from this place for the very first time. So finally I ordered 2 dosas which were1 - Mysore Masala Dosa2 - Chettinad Masala Paneer DosaThe packaging of both the dosa were absolutely perfect, and the quality dosa was delivered on my door steps which was really mouth water and finger licking good.Mysore Masala as well the Paneer one were really perfect with the portion and hence I found it very tasty. If you looking something in spice, then go for Mysore Masala and if you looking something in fully panner stuff then order the Chettinad paneer masala dosa.I would like to rate this outlet 5/5 for the taste for the quality & for proper packaging.Would like to order from this outlet again

Madras Diaries is probably one of the best places for South Indian food in Bandra.I have visited this place before and the ambience was amazing with a South Indian feel. However this time I tried their delivery and I was surprised and I was a little skeptical for it as South Indian food doesnt taste best when cold.I was fathomed by their packaging and service. By the time I opened it at home, it was still hot.I tried Jalapeno Cheese Dosa which was delicious, a little tangy and cheesy. Everything I love in one dish.Along with it I tried the Classic Masala Utapam. Masala Utapam looks quite easy to cook and all, but on the contrary, its somewhat difficult to reach the perfection.Personally I feel that Madras Diaries managed to reach that perfection and I loved it.All in all, amazing place to visit or even order food at home. You will not be disappointed if you make sure to eat it as soon as it arrives.

The combination was so good, it took us 2 mins to finish this off.We tried Idli wedges crisp tossed in blend of spices - these were basically fried idlis served with a roast of spices and coconut chutney. You can also try these fried idlis with the default option of 4 chutneys which they provide at no cost - Pineapple chutney, beetroot chutney, Turia chutney and Tomato chutney. For mains - I tried the Dosa Sandwich - the quantity was good for 2-3 people. The Dosa was stuffed with all ingredients of a sandwich and tasted heavenly. We were invited at Madras diaries and we left delighted! Its very rare that you find lip smacking south Indian food in Mumbai but this amazing restaurant is worth a visitThe food and ambience both were amazingHeres what we have to say about their food1. Tahttu idli - This is a big sized idli with loads of ghee and gunpowder on top of it. The idli is very very soft and its a good option for breakfast and dinner2. Chettinad masala paneer dosa - The chettinad flavour in dosa was something unique. The stuffing of masala paneer inside the dosa is sufficient enough. Served with chutney and sambar3. Appam with vegetable stew - The vegetable stew is cooked in coconut oil and has a subtle and creamy flavour. Its loaded with veggies and the appams are soft. The combination is just so suitable for a perfect lunch or dinner option4. Malabari paratha with chettinad mushrooms - This combination was our favorite. The mushrooms were spicy in taste and cooked with traditional south Indian spices. The malabari paratha was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A perfection option for dinner at madras diariesFor beverages they served us buttermilk and kokum cooler. Both the drinks were refreshing.Lastly we ended our meal with pineapple and chickoo Sheera. Chitrana Lemon rice - This was super flavorful and tangy in taste. So damn refreshing, its a must try this summer. The highlight if dish was admirable consolidation of lemon and turmeric flavour. This was served with papad & pickle.3. Idli wedges crisp tossed in blend of spices - The idlis fried till they are crispy and then tossed in curry leaves and spices. Went well with coconut chutney. Today we visited Madras Diaries which is located in Bandra (W) First thing when I entered that restaurant the first impression was their ambience it was too good and mind soothing then we gave our order.First we ordered Mysore Masala Cheese Dosa the way it was presented to to us was mouth tempting and it was also good in size all the flavours were perfectly blended and it was excellent in taste . Then we ordered Paneer Uthappan as always the presentation was good and the paneer on that Uthappam was fresh and too good in taste with chatni and sambhar their chatni was too good that we took extra and for Paneer lovers this dish id perfect. After we thought we will try something different it was Cheese Chilli Jalapeno Idli in Masala Fondue which was awesome there were 15 to sixteen pieces of idli with stuffed jalapeno and cheese cream when we dipped the first small fried idli in the cream and had it made my day the best dish it was perfect in taste the cream with it was also too good. Then we ordered Dosa Sandwich the presentation was at the level best the taste was also too good and it was spicy too people who love to eat spicy must definitely try it. After that we ordered Oreo Shake which was too good in taste perfect level of sweetness and good flavor of oreo topped with a oreo biscuit. And at last perfect ending to this dinner it was the desert the best desert I had have in my life Elaneer Payasam it was cold with badaam topping and malai in it this dish was perfect and the quantity was also good.Thank you

Recently have been craving South Indian food a lot and due to this I am kinda obsessed with exploring new and authentic South Indian Themed Restaurants in Mumbai. My hunt landed me to another such place situated in Bandra. The place has a cozy non-AC seating and an AC seating. Pleasant Carnatic music is played in the background while you explore their leather-bound vintage style menu scripture. Overall this is our take on @Madras Diaries:Service:4/5Food: 5/5Ambience: 4/5Creativity: 4/5Food we ordered:1. Kara Paniyaram: These were small globules of idli like batter with chopped onions and other veggies, cooked tough on outside while spongy soft on inside. These globules were then tossed in mustard seeds and loads of gun powder. A nice snack to try.2. Appam & Vegetable Stew: This has always been my favorite. Light fluffy appams along with delicious coconut milk based gravy is indeed a comfort food.3. Chutneys: All the foods were served along with 4 types of chutneys i.e. pineapple yogurt based chutney, beet based chutney, tomato based chutney and ridge gourd based chutney. All of these were amazingly delicious and complimented the food well.4. Beverages: For beverages we had their elaneer mocktail which was fresh tender coconut along with a dash of lime. Along with this we also had Filter Kapi which obviously is a must.5. Dessert: For desserts we had Elaneer Payasam which was quite delicious coconut milk based payasam with chunks of tender coconut flesh in it. A bit runny than usual but delicious and quite balance. Secondly we had chickoo halwa which was their days special and an absolute must have.Overall this place definitely knowns its spices and has that authentic touch I must say. The service I felt could have been a bit better but apart from that everything was amazing. Had a lovely time indeed.Happy Fooding !! 🙂

I ordered Dosa Sandwich, Chettinad paneer with wheat parotha, idli wada mix, virgin mojito and they served 4 different types of chutneys which were interesting.Dosa Sandwich:- I liked the taste of it! There was a lot of filling inside the dosa and it was served hot! If youre a dosa lover, you have to try this out once!Chettinad paneer with wheat parotha:- Chettinad paneer was served hot. I tried it for the first time and was really impressed with the taste. 2parothas are served with this. You have to try this out! This dish is the most loved by me from my order.Idli wada mix:- 2idlis and 1 wada with sambhar and chutney are served. I liked the wada more. Again it was served hot.Virgin Mojito:- A refreshment drink is a must for lunch. It was tangy and cold. I loved how it was presented.Staffs were cooperative and the food service was on time. If you live near by this outlet, visit here if youre a true south Indian dishes lover. It was a great experience.

Portions were satisfactory too.I ordered: Paneer Chettinad Masala Dosa and Chettinad Paneer with Flaky Wheat Parotta.Paneer Chettinad Masala Dosa: Dosa to accompany with Paneer Chettinad Masala was a delectable experience.Chettinad Paneer with Flaky Wheat Parotta: Yummy Chettinad Paneer Subji with parottas, Subji was nicely done and with parottas my tastebuds were satisfied to the fullest.Apt packaging, scrumptious food and in time delivery makes me appreciate Madras Diaries. Madras Diaries has been a talk of the town ever since it was started. It is creating a different kind of hype for South Indian food. Bandra had all types of restaurants from clubbing to fine dine but a proper South Indian restaurant was missing. But Madras diaries has fulfilled it. It is located at a prominent location in Bandra, Waterfield road next to Arbab restaurant. Valet parking service is also available. The twist in the South Indian food is loved by people. The restaurant is quiet spacious. It has indoor and outdoor arrangements. The ambiance is really colourful and flowery. As soon as you are seated and place your order, they will serve you four chutneys - Pineapple sweet shrikhand chutney, turia chutney, beetroot and tomato chutneys just like we have pickle with the food. All the chutneys are so colourful.Coming to what we hadhad,First we tried their mocktails,Elaaner cooler and Kokum coolerElaaner cooler was made with the base of coconut water and mixed with some lemon and fizz which made it a refreshing drink. I really liked the twist they have tried to create.Kokum cooler - Kokum cooler was prepared with a twist again it was mohito combined with lemons and mint. It is again a good to go drink.Filter coffee- If you are visiting this place, then their filter coffee is must. Their coffee is prepared in the authentic South Indian style. It tastes outstanding and served in copper glass.Coming to what had in food ,Dosa Sandwich - Well this is so tempting I would surely recommended this one. Dosa prepared with lots of veggies and mainly aloo is the base. It is garnished with cheese and cut into pieces like a sandwich. Trying to give the essence of Mumbai Street food.Cheese chilli idlis with masala fondue - 15 small sized idlis stuffed with jalapenos and the fried. It is an amazing combination. The dip also tastes really nice and chessy. The chef has thought something out of the boxWe also tried their mini meals which is not mini at all and sufficient for two people. It consists of pineapple sheera, chaas, paroota, sambhar, steam rice, 5-6different veggies special South Indian rice.Overall its an amazing place to visit for South Indian food specially. The hospitality and staff is also great.

I moved from Bangalore 2 months back. Since i was missing the south indian stuff that i used to relish there, i zeroed in on Madras diaries. Since i went for lunch, and what better option than to order Thali (Meals), hence i ordered one and waited for almost 20 mts before i saw my thali on my table. If you think waiting 20 mts was the bad part, then you are mistaken. I started with sambar and it was bad by any yardstick. I also saw Paneer, Mushrooms and couple of other items that were never part of any south indian meal i ever had . Rasam was pathetic. Over all there is no Madras there or anything to write about in the Diaries about the taste. And to top it the cost is 495 plus taxes. Not even worth 100 bucks . People - avoid.
