HUGE shout out to JJ at the shop. We were on the Durango to Moab hut to hut route and I exploded my rear wheel on day 6 (of 7). From the hut I was able to reach the shop with my SPOT messenger. I hiked ~3 miles to the Geyser pass trailhead and JJ picked me up there, shuttled me back into town and rented me a bike through the shop so I could finish Day 7 with my hut trip group!Moab Cyclery has a guaranteed customer anytime I am in town from Atlanta!

Me and my cross country running team rented bikes for a 1/2 day, 4 hour bike tour. They accommodated our group of almost 30 people extremely well, splitting us into 4 different groups by skill level with different guides. My guide, Mariah, was excellent! She helped me feel comfortable mountain biking which I never have been before, and she made the whole experience very enjoyable! The trails she took us to were breathtakingly beautiful; thankfully there were many options for our variously skilled groups! I would highly recommend this bike shop!!

I chose moab cyclery because they were nice on the phone and had a medium framed full suspension mtb for me to ride the whole enchilada on Saturday. I arrived an hour before closing to pick up a rental bike on Friday and was in a rush because we had to reserve a camping spot asap. They said it would be a few minutes to tune it up and they would let me know when it was ready. This was fine but a little annoying. I reserved it for the full day so it should have been ready to go. 20 minutes later I was still waiting right outside the shop and went back in to ask what was taking so long. Turned out it had been ready for a while, but no one had bothered to tell me. In a rush I took the bike around the parking lot and loaded it up. They forgot to put in my included recovery kit so I had to go back for it, they also told me they’d include a master link in the recovery kit but did not. However, the lady inside the store was nice and let me use one. The next morning we got ready to ride the whole enchilada. The bike was great (specialized stump jumper) but not tuned up at all. Indexing was way off, gears were slipping constantly, and when I started going off drops I realized the rear suspension was regularly bottoming out. I gave them my weight so they could adjust it accordingly, which they evidently did not do. I even said I weighed several more pounds than I actually did to make up for the gear I’d have and yet I was still bottoming out. If I’m paying for 2 full days I would have expected a better tune up as well as better communication from their team. It’s frustrating because they’re obviously more concerned about numbers, and not quality service. It’s Moab, a tourist town, so they know they can get away with it. I would suggest one of the smaller shops. I asked around and the consensus is the smaller shops are years ahead when it comes to customer service and quality maintenance. This situation could have been mitigated by many things: charging a half day when they knew I wouldn’t even get to ride it on Friday and would be turning it in less than 24 hours later, offering early pickup so I could make my shuttle, tuning it up correctly in the shop, or even having better communication in the shop when my bike was ready. I hope this information helps you improve your services in the future.

I was not happy with the service provided by this shop. Our group rented 5 bikes for 5 days at a cost of $110 per bike per day. The tires on the bikes we received were almost slick. When we returned the bikes, the guy that received them, told us that the bearings were worn out on one of them and seemed to be saying it was our fault. Clearly it wasnt and may have caused the rider some issues. It makes me wonder how often they do routine maintenance. For that kind of money, the bikes should have been in good shape when we received them. We did not receive any type of receipt showing that we returned the bikes. That is a bit scary.

Basically give them double the money on bikes today with a chance to rent again tomorrow. When we arrived, they didnt have any bikes... However, as we were leaving, a family of 4 (almost a carbon duplicate of ours) were returning their bikes. The girl working their seemed to see the logic. The guy running said that was not possible due to mechanics. Didnt seem worth arguing... Guess he didnt want business from a guy in a military shirt.Frustrating for us at that moment. Employees here are rude and impatient, there are other shops that offer what they have so there is no need to go here.Booked a shuttle for 11:30am, walked in the door at 10:45am and asked if I needed to do anything before going. The front desk employee told me to Be here ready to ride at 11:30. I then asked what trail head we would be getting a shuttle to exactly (changes per trail condition) then he asked another employee if the shuttle was even still going to happen cause there are only three people on it. The other employee confirmed and he repeated his Be here... I asked the question again and he then pointed at a map and told me what trail. I asked how to get back to town after the trail and he said it was a short ride with a bike path. He then repeated his Be here...The shuttle driver was fine, seemed like a nice guy and didnt talk much. The trail was really fun! (LPS to Porcupine Rim). Then the ride back to town ended up being on the highway for 2 miles, bike path for 2 miles and another road through town for 2 miles. So he didnt really tell the truth about the ride back either. An hour before the shop closed, my wife walked up after the ride to ask if there shower was open and the 3-4 male employees at the counter glared at her and told her it was closed. Made her super uncomfortable.I went to ask trail suggestions for the next day at Bike Fiend and they were awesome. I wish I saw if they did shuttles to send them my business. I was expecting, I am so sorry, we know its a bad design and apologize for not ensuring a cap was on it. Let me get my manager to see what we can do to. Also on my soap box, they took an hour to rent bikes and we were late for dinner, returning them took another 30 minutes. As according to my husband who was used to Other Better bike shops who took the bikes and rack off for you. They just sit there and expect you to know exactly where and how to return procedures work. Very unimpressed, on a good note they didnt let my son in as he is allergic to dogs. On a bad note, why would you expose the shop to customers to a dog that they may be allergic too? Anyway our business will not coming back, as we value quality vs. attitude.

Hi, Im the manager here. We at Moab Cyclery strive to bring you a great Moab bike shop experience with high end bike rentals, retail, service, shuttles, tours and even a shower! We keep our rental bikes as current as possible and take every step to ensure that they are properly tuned and running well. When you bring your bike to our experienced mechanics they will do their best to get you back on the trail as quickly as possible. We are not perfect! Moab can be an incredibly busy place during the high season! Please be patient with us and understand that we have families to go home to at the end of the day, that we also enjoy riding our bikes on our off days. Our shower is actually outside, though private. Most importantly please return your rental bikes promptly by 5 pm so we have enough time to properly tune it for the next customer to enjoy tomorrow. Talk to us. We love to share our favorite ride spots, what bikes we enjoy and great Moab local tips. Well tell you where the liquor store is. These guys gave me a locals discount and let me borrow a wrench and some cable juice on the fly. Tipped a couple bucks! They have a great bike multi tool there.

I rented a high end bike to ride the Whole Enchilada,The bike I got from them was flawless. It worked perfectly all day, could not have been better. The shuttle was on time and there was no damage to our bikes. Will be back again!

I reserved a bike from here 3 months before arriving & asked if I could take the bike before the shop closed the day before as I wanted to leave very early on the rental day (about 6am). They said fine if there was one available & to call late afternoon before they closed at 6pm. I couldn’t get a signal, so arrived at the shop at 5:40pm. They guy told me they didn’t let bikes go out after 5:30pm. But they never told me this.

Great bike shop with a large amount of rental bikes ranging from standard to very premium bikes. We went here because the other shops were out of rentals for the day. We just walked in, rented a bike for 2 days and left. Returning it was very easy. Prices seem to be about the same for each shop in Moab.
