This is my neighborhood Mexican food spot and honestly I dont come here enough. The chips and salsa are π₯, drinks good (theyre known for their flaming margaritas), service always friendly and really fast, its almost alarming how fast the food comes out, and of course the food is π₯ too. They dont take reservations and it does get very busy at night/weekends so be prepared to wait.
Fantastic dining experience with authentic Mexican food! On Friday nights they have a live band, and if you just want a drink they have a chill side bar. The Flaming Margaritas here are a must try! So is the Gallina en Mole!
Great for a date. Known for their Flaming margaritas, but they arent the best, but they do get the job done. Very dark romantic atmosphere but noisy. Food is great!
I do enjoy coming here with a friend to have dinner, drinks and catching up.... the waiters are polite and the food is good.
This is a classic spot. The decor, the vibes , the food is on point. I had the grilled Salmon tacos, very good, and we all shared Guacamole and that salsa is delicious. Thank you to the staff, waiters and waitresses for all your hard work. You Made us feel at home. Will return everytime possible
Been coming here for 8.5 years very regularly. I love it so much. Despite the fact that the service is comically and legendarily horrific. It has tested my patience too many times to count. Mainly posting this in case someone there actually reads the reviews which Im 1000% sure there isnt.
I canβt say enough good things about this place. Came on a Saturday night after 8pm and got seated right away. Super friendly and attentive staff, quick service, and DELICIOUS food. I had the enchiladas with ground beef and my friend had tacos. Margaritas were strong. Overall, a great experience and my new favorite Mexican restaurant in all of LA.Also, regarding the review submitted by Jess S claiming that her waiter knew βbarley any Englishβ, she canβt even spell or form proper sentences, so donβt listen to her ππ
Usually my spot however my last visit the chef could not fulfill my food needs due to laziness so I cut my eating experience short! @TheQCNetwork and @QaliisCorner will post updates after each visit!
I had high hopes for this place, but the hostess truly ruined it for us. We were told that the patio was first come, first served, so we walked outside to see if there was room for us. There was one table very close to a family, which we werent comfortable with given the increased risk of COVID exposure. We saw another table that wasnt cleared yet (where our party would fit better anyway) and two different servers told us it would be OK to sit there. We waited, sat down, ordered drinks, and were preparing to order food when the hostess came over and told us we needed to move because someone else had reserved that table later in the evening. She didnt work with us at all on letting us sit there until the family left; letting us finish our drinks and then moving; or explaining why the reservation couldnt just sit in a different spot, especially since we were told there were no reservations or controlled seating outside when we arrived and their reservation was almost 90 minutes from the time she first approached us. Also keep in mind we had arrived 20-30 minutes prior to this so were very settled. We ended up having our friends meet us elsewhere and just finished our drinks. The frozen mango margarita I got tasted a bit artificial and wasnt very strong, but my friend enjoyed her jalapeno margarita on the rocks a lot. The outdoor area was also really small and had no music or anything - it seemed like an afterthought compared to the inside, which had a much better vibe (other than the hostess, who killed it...). Definitely wont be back to this location, but may try the other one since the menu looked really good.
Great food. Nice people
Did not like the place.Food was whatever and our order was wrong. Forgot some of our plates. 300 dollar bill and was not worth it. Drinks were water down food was not flavorful. Place said they had. Mariachi performance but that was wrong. Had a group perform but you couldnt even hear the girl sing. We left a tip and some one on there own staff took it and did not give to correct waiter and they chased us down asking for a tip. Would not come back π
A VERY dark restaurant thats perfect for sexy date night (if Mexican is what you crave for date night). The beef in the beef chimichanga was a bit overdone and chewy but the whole thing was still tasty and Id try it again... probably an off day.
Hollywood classic. The big margs will get ya every time. Food is fantastic. I personally prefer the patio area.
Excellent atmosphere and great food. Would highly recommend if you are looking for good Mexican food in the Hollywood area. Easy to miss as it looks very small from the road but there is some parking in the rear which is also where the entrance is.
Great food. Good service. I am convinced their food is made with love!π₯°
If you order delivery form this over priced, bland tasting Mexican restaurant, please note, they will not give you a side of salsa. Even when requested twice for multiple entres. Will not eat here again.
Great foodHad the Enchiladas Guadalajara style, cheese Enchiladas with Quarter chicken with potatoes & riceChips where hot & fresh & perfectSalsa was super tasty & not too spicy hot! I was very impressed with the salsa!!!We did takeout but the outside patio in the back was very inviting. We will have to come back & try those flaming Margaritas!Very very tasty food!
Weve been going to this restaurant for over 15 years. They always have friendly staff and the food is delicious! Drinks are also very enjoyable. No complaintsTonight was the shortest wait time ever, obviously because of covid changes and not many being out and about yet. The wait time has always been worth it. They do tell you once seated, tables have a 90minute limit, it makes sense.
We were looking forward to a fine mexican meal as part of our Bosch filming tour but were disappointed by the mediocre run of the mill bland food. The only saving grace was the flaming margaritas. Back to our old favorite
Best Mexican restaurant in LA loved the decor and customer service. Very friendly staff with always a smile on their face. We got traditional Mexican food and it was awesome. We had to try their flaming drink which they are famous for. Everything soPerfect even the salsa and chips they serve at the beginning. 5/5. I came all the way down from Montreal Canada. Parking available In the back.
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food! We had a blast celebrating my moms birthday!! ππ₯³
No complaints about the food, which was good. However, the service was terrible. Our server made no effort the entire dinner and we had to ask for everything including water, silverware chips and salsa. The worst part was that ourwaiter walked past us the entire night and we had to flag down a busser for everything we wanted except our food order (Ariel). He and the quality of the food were the only good parts of the experience. Our food took so long as well. We finally asked to speak to a manager twice and she never came over (no wonder the service was so bad, the manager didnβt even care about service!!). Ariel should be a server and the servers should be bussers, as the servers werenβt even busyβ¦.just sitting in the corner and talking. It also wasnβt just us as every table around us had to ask Ariel or flag down the server for everything from water to the check. 1 STAR!
This authentic Mexican place was quite a surprise. Right when we entered, the live music was playing and the whole atmosphere was outstanding. They also had patio areas in the back and they were even more romantic. The food was somewhat heavy and cheesy for my taste but everything else was great. We had such a relaxing and quality dinner time here.
Stopped by here for the Guadalajara Enchiladas. The chicken was seasoned very well and the cheese Enchiladas were decent. I wasnt a big fan of the red sauce on the enchiladas, but if you want a good sauce - the salsa served with the chips is awesome! Its not too spicy, just enough. It fills your mouth with so many flavors it really is satisfying. Id come back here for more, most definitely.
Great Red Seating and the Dim lights..π Love it...Prefer Coke instead of Pepsi....
Drinks were great noise level was very high. Normally I dont complain about that but I could not hear the person sitting next to me.
This place is one of the best Mexican restaurants Ive ever been to. They serve a lot of food and the beef nachos can feed at least 3 people. I recommend this restaurant π
A little expensive but definitely worth it. You get what you pay for, in a good way
Its very convenient for tacos. During our vacation time, we went there twice. We were so pleased to find this spot... Hes a star here. Tacos and the black model of ummmmm beer.... Amazing.
Had a great early dinner! Great service & food. Queso was delicious with their homemade Tortillas. Got two Crunchy Tacos, a spinach and cheese tamale and an horchata. Was not disappointed!
Dee-li-cious! It was really packed, though, but other than that it was a great restaurant.
There was a solid 15 minute delay in receiving two of our four meals. The carne asada tacos were unremarkable.
We spent several days and nights eating delicious Mexican food and drinking margaritas sitting at the bar. A great day and night. A whole lot of fun:)
Great, authentic Mexican food in a unique environment. Its a tiny space with lots of faux red leather and dark wood with low lighting. We went for my sons birthday and they kindly brought dessert and sang happy birthday to him. The live music was terrific. The service was not super- friendly but it felt like the goal was more efficiency. The most unique thing I saw was a drink, maybe a margarita, which they lighted so it would catch fire. I didnt get try this, but maybe next time. This place isnt cheap but its definitely worth visiting the relatively historic restaurant.
First of all, the waiter knew barley any English. We had to repeat our order 6 times we had a spill at the tThe food was bland! Lobster enchiladas HORRIBLE ! Returned them for shrimp fajitas which were also bland and cold when they arrived. I asked to have a refund and they would not refund. Horrible customer service from the manager. NEVER AGAIN!
I have been going to El Compadre for 30 years and they never fail to impress me!!! Their food and service are incredible! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
The vibe is EVERYTHING! FOOD AND DRINKS EXCEPTIONAL!βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
I had the beef hard shell tacos, rice and beans they were delicious. The quacamole was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere cause we got to eat inside with no masks.
The food was great. Had the asada tacos plater, The chips and salsa and guac. My favorite was the salsa itself. The meatball soup is very tasty. Service was OK. Our waiter was very good. Our table was outside in a patio area. We did have to wait a long time for a table. Longer than 30min (the time estimate given by the host). There is no wait area. The bar was closed. We waited in the parking lot, standing up. No chairs. It was worth the wait. Cheers πΊ
Service was great. And my chicken nachos were very tasty. The food here is always A1...ππΎ
Super awesome and delicious! Our waiter, Andrew, was the absolute best and incredibly fast! Thank you! πShrimp fajitas, scrumptious! π
Best food from the classic Mexican restaurants in Hollywood. The locals know. Also, the flaming margarita is amazing.
The food has been fabulous. Big servings. Dinner for four with a wine bottle. Get busy and make sure that you book... They enjoyed it!
Food is fantastic any day, any time. Also, lunch is always perfect. The food is massive and awesome. There are hot and new chips and salsa and as much as you want.
I got food poisoning from shrimp tacos. I was sick for 4 days!
Food was delicious and great service!
Love this place. Good food and great service
Just dont get adventurous here. Know that this aint Mexican cuisine. Keep it simple. 2 tacos, please.
I wasnβt impressed with the service, but more the food. We waited about 20 minutes for a seat. No one greeted to seat us, we had to walk down to the middle of the restaurant. Once seated, our waitress/water girl was super sweet and genuine. The beef tacos were delicious, the salsa was delicious and so was the speed of how quickly the food came out. Overall look of the restaurant was traditional and mysterious. It was fun trying something new but the service staff needs to be more up to speed.
Food is ok, the male waiters were a bit not very friendly but Maria (waitress) she was awesome, she was very friendly and delivered an outstanding customerβs service to us, making our visit very pleasant !
Favorite Mexican spot! Steak quesadillas and margs are my go to although Iβve never had a bad meal here... Always delicious and worth waiting for!
Been going here for years. Some of the best Mexican food this City has to offer.
The food is outrageously fine. Incredible prices, big plates of real Mexican cuisine, served by the kindest people youve ever met.
We planned to have a romantic night at El Compadre on Saturday night (02/22/2020) After checking in the host mention a 45 minutes to one hour wait. We looked at each other and said, well, the nine month old is well taken care of, letβs wait. Unfortunately the waiting time took almost 120 minutes. Yes! You read that correctly. Taking in consideration the food and our previous experience at this place, I can truthfully say, this was the last time visiting this spot. The service is average and the time to be seated is ridiculously long, not worth the flaming margaritas or the over seasoning food. Yes, there are many good things about this place, but the hostess has poor attitude and the restaurant doesnβt invest a few dollars on free quesadillas for the 120 minute wait.I would suggest to the general manager, if they have one. To go back to basic customer service 101 and train staff to be more friendly and smile. Thank you for having the pleasure of meeting us. Adios, El Compadre!
Staff, food, service was top notch. Second to none.
The refried beans were delicious, the cheese enchiladas were salty, my boyfriend said one of his beef tacos was great and the other was chewy, and I think he liked the Spanish rice more than I did. Then again, I was extra full and didnt have room in my stomach for it, anyway. Plus I ordered the mole enchiladas and got regular ones instead, but didnt bother to tell the waiter because I didnt want to make a big thing of it. Maybe thatll teach me to order for pickup instead of eating there. Well, maybe itll be better next time, who knows.
Horrible experience at this restaurant, horrible customer service, food was not good, server took the wrong orders on our meals and they gave us a dirty fork. Not worth the money or time!
We found this venue using Tripadvisor and it was a great find. The atmosphere was great with live music and a 3 piece band. Highly recommended.
Excellent spot for delicious mexican food. I will be bringing friends next time. The place has an awesome atmosphere. Reminds me of a place in New York I loved to visit.
Takes 30 minutes for take out which was quite long but the food was worth it, the hostess was very friendly and hardworking. Will revisit for dine-in.
This is the best Mexican restaurant Ive been to in the USA for a long time. In two ways, it is the best.
Food was great but took forever. Will give a pass on that during these trying times
ONE OF HOLLYWOOD.. NO LAS WONDERFUL LASTING RESTAURANTS!QUAILITY,PRICE AND ATMOSPHERE ARE EXCELLENT!!
So much fun! Great vibes in this place. The parking lot is tiny and was valet only when we went, but it was great not having to worry about parking. We came here before a Dodgers game and it was packed! The good news is we were seated within 15 minutes. The service was great, and they were great at anticipating our needs. The decor is really nice, and the ambiance can be romantic if youre on a date or fun if youre in a group. The food was great and so were the drinks. Will definitely return!
Yummy authentic Mexican food. Excellent chichis.
Food is super authentic. Service is excellent and the beer was ice cold. My wife had a Cadillac margarita that she really enjoyed. I had the steak Picado plate10+ My wife had the hard shell beef taco plate 10+ as well..Very satisfied customer.
I discovered thisΒ restaurant, I found out by mistake, but what a find. Vintage furniture of the Rockford Files period, delicious boozy cocktails and excellent food!
This was one of the only restaraunts that we found that was still open past 10 on a Sunday which apparently is a rare thing to see in the LA area. Rafael was our waiter. Hes very polite and knows his menu and foods very well. It wasnt u til later that we learned hes been working there for almost 3 decades. The food was excellent as were the drinks.
Great Mexican food! Great variety, including shrimp tacos. The carnitas are memorable. Great, unique-tasting salsas, too! PV has been around for a long time. After youve eaten here, you can see why. Cant go wrong with PV.
El Compadre is the BEST RESTRAINT IN LA!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE.. The food and drinks are without question my favorite. If you love chips and salsa this is heaven on earth. My fav is the JalapeΓ±o Margarita!!!The Family who owns El Compadre is one of the kindest most loving families there is. Absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in L.A. The wait staff is always friendly and the food is amazing. Can be a wait but its because the secret is out.
