Seriously in need of Disney magic. I could get a better explanation of whats going on here by watching the BIG BANG THEORY show.Additionally, this is a very small exhibit hall that tried to offer too much in tight spaces. I cant imagine how this might be in a post Covid world with more people.Sadly, they also display CERN hard hats in the gift shop, but they are not for sale.

I didnt find the microcosm exihibit at all interesting. I enjoy physics but even for me it was painfully boring, just reading and tapping touchscreen displays, barely any interaction or fun. It felt like I was reading a book about Cern and felt nothing like an engaging exhibit. Maybe including some games, sound displays, reducing or even spreading out the information between displays would help people enjoy the exhibit more. Its definitely an exhibit designed by scientists for scientists or people with an interest in physics and not for regular layman to enjoy or even understand. Maybe the tour is different and more engaging, Im not sure as I did not attend it.

Exposition is good (history, details and lot of content - for something free). The staff is friendly, helpful and also super patient with pushy visitors. Kudos to them.On the negative side, the 1h guided visit was quite disappointing: not much content and not as interesting as the main exhibition. Im not recommending waiting for this tour, as places are limited and take quite some time to queue to signup, for a poor content.

CERN is amazing place for the scientific advancements it has made not just in the field of physics but other day to day living too.1 have been there twice and loved it both times, detailed tours and lectures gives deep insight of the work put into this field at this place. They also do limited tours throughout the year of the collider itself but you would have to be very lucky to get that, most of the tours are skipped without that privilege.Amazing place for school/college students as it really lights a spark in peoples mind and gets them thinking into STEM subjects and widening their horizons.

Had a stopover in Geneva and thought going to CERN would have been an interesting stop. It wasnt too hard to get there (bus and walking) and got there around 0840. The office was full of students (since it was school holidays and looked like they had some sort of event) so wasnt able to go in and the globe was still closed up. There were a few things to look at in the plaza but otherwise not too much to do.I didnt really look it up beforehand which was probably a mistake on my part but that was the only time I had to have a look in the area.

Probably, a good museum, but, unfortunately, we didnt get a chance to visit it, as we had to leave after standing in a line for 1 hour on August 5th. During that hour (from 1 to 2 pm) about 20-25 people left the museum, but only 7 were let in, and we still had 8 people before us. At the same time, some people out of the line were allowed to get in from time to time without having had to wait in the line. The covid measures are understandable, but somehow other facilities have learned to manage it in the past 1.5 years.

Sometimes randomly some slots become available when someone cancel their reservation. New slots open at 2:30 am Canadian time (8:30 am swiss time).Tour is 2 hour and very informative. It had access to some places like ATLAS building where ordinary visitor cannot go. Along with 2-3 multimedia presentations.Spare atleast 4 hours for this place. 2 hours of tour and then 1-2 hours for permanent exhibitions.Reception is opposite to globe building. Go there for visitors registration and pick up your card. Tour starts from reception area.

Visiting CERN was the highlight of my Europe trip this year.Firstly, the tour was well organized and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. When it comes to nuclear research, the tour could become very academic or boring if you are not into physics or science. However, from how the microcosm was designed to the way that the guide explains things, the knowledge sounded very fun and easy to be absorbed.Secondly, they took us to see the synchrocyclotron. Wow. When I entered the room and the animation started showing and explaining the history and functions of the synchrocyclotron, I just felt mind blown.Lastly, it brought me so much emotions because the scientists here dedicated their whole life to research and explore from quark to universe. I felt extremely honored to visit this place.

This is probably one of the coolest things to do in Geneva, and a lot of people miss it. We went without booking a tour, but they had one spot open, so my friend (a physics buff) went and I did the exhibitions. I expected to have to find something else to do during her 2 hour tour, but the exhibitions took up nearly that time. If you have to pick one, go with Particles of the Universe. Microcosms explains the large hydrogen collider. Both give extensive information, but are understandable even if you have a lesser knowledge of physics (like me).
