Friday night = 1h30min.$211 for 4 people.Unfortunately as I did not see my friends in a long time, there was no time for photos.We ordered, seafood pancake, spicy tteokbokki, corn cheese, pork set and beef set (2 sets) and 1 lemon lime bitter.The service was extravagant. The staffs were extremely friendly.We were seated upstairs, unfortunately not by the window - so it became quite stuffy.The food was nothing short of amazing. If youre a fan of ChangGo or Yeongo, you need to give G2 a go.Dont settle for Bornga!!Would come here again definitely.

If youve been to Korean BBQs before and thought, why am I paying for food that I have to cook myself? Well not this place. Your selected choice will be cooked for you on your table, and theyll let you know which bits are ready for you to pick off. Service is amazing, it was a good balance of checking on you if you need anything and getting anything you need to you with lightning speed. Had the pork set which comes with a variety of sides, and rice (Pork marinades were a bit too sweet for my taste), the corn cheese which comes on a hot plate (again bit too sweet for me), and the spicy seafood and tofu hot pot which was absolutely devine. Id also recommend the black raspberry Korean wine - $20 comes in a medium sized bottle that could fill up 3 soju shot glasses twice. Be prepared to be smelling smoky meat and maybe having your clothes smell bit like smoke afterwards. Overall its a unique experience, good vibes, reasonable prices and will definitely be back to try and discover their more savoury dishes. Bookings recommended.

Wonderful korean bbq with lovely service and nice environment！ The spicy chicken feet stew is delicious and ive never tried that before im so impressed by the seasoning and thick sauc sauce. However I would expect a little bit more choices of desert from the menu. Anyway overall a wonderful place to do gathering with friends❤️

Stumbled across this place after our original plan fell through - what a blessing in disguise! Not only was the food great but the customer service was second to none - staff were extremely friendly & attentive! Shout out to the lovely lady who fulfilled my fried chicken craving by getting the chefs to whip up some chicken even though it wasnt available on the menu for the night and also for providing me with a bottle of aloe vera drink because she was worried I couldnt match my friend in his soju drinking skills!

Great place, has a cool steam-punk vibe with a good view out the 2nd story window. The staff were great, very attentive without hovering over us and all the meat was cooked to perfection in front of us. Very tasty food, we had the option of either spoon or chopsticks, with the food being easy to eat without knives or forks.I loved it.

Once again the Korean BBQ cravings hit so we decided to try out G2, conveniently located in the CBD. Upon first impression it didnt quite have the appeal of other competitors nearby, but was still nice. Service was extremely friendly and on point. We had the Pork Set with G2 Rice. We left feeling full and satisfied, however its hard to rate it up there considering the quality of the competition. Definitely worth a visit though!- MustBeHungry

First time Korean BBQ and it was great. Food was delicious, staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Took Covid restrictions and social distancing very serious. Well Done.

I love this place !! The food and service was top notch!! I absolutely loved their Wagyu + other meats !! Their side dishes were also very tasty! Really liked their cold nodle !!! Kimchi Stew and Bean paste soup were authentic as well!!

The wagyu beef both plain and marinated was very fatty and chewy. Bad quality of meat. The corn cheese and meat had my stomach cramping and horrible indigestion after I left. Very rude customer service was constantly ignored when needed service or wanted to ask a question.Defiantly will not come back again. And defiantly not worth the money.

Good food but slightly expensive for the quality provided.Desert was a hit and miss, the best was definitely the macadamia ice cream.

Place started having queues after the 20 people capacity limit. I got seated next to the door on a cold and windy night which made me feel quite strange. Cold on one side and then warm on the other side which was facing the charcoal grill. Food is decent with excellent service from staff. Can get quite pricey though.

Very small and intimate setting but it is nice, you dont even realise how small it is.Food- delicious!!Price- we bought the beef and pork pack which included 1 entree, meat pack for bbq, salads, rice and lots of condiment type things and a hotpot.$101 for 2 people which included 2x cokes and 1 beer.Parking- We parked on la trobe street under Melbourne Central after 7.30 on a Friday evening, was about a 3 minute walk to G2, we returned to car around 9:30 and it only cost $13Experience - 5star!Im not sure if Children are allowed here, but if so I wouldnt recommend younger children.With the hot charcoal bowl on the centre of the table it could get very dangerous if they got rowdy.

Used to be my favourite kbbq place in the city, but after being told to come back in 20 minutes and theyd have a table ready, was told to then go the back of a line that was forming. This a really great place. The foods is terrific and the staffs are so friendly and the owner is friendly too. Came here twice and it’s really satisfying. Will come again for the new soju cocktail which was so good.

This is the first restaurant me and my fiancé have tried and we will definitely come back to food was extremwly fresh because it is done right in front. When we first went in the table waa set with everything we would need and the service was very nice I recommend this place for a lovely date

Exceptional service and a good range of menu for Korean bbq. Great set meals are offered. They’ve recently added a giant shot glass that fits the whole bottle of Korean soju. Do ask for it if you are a lover of soju. The waiters/waitresses keep checking on the meat on the grill. Friendly staff. The side dishes provided are descent too.

It was my first time here and we ordered the Beef Set for BBQ, and we were informed that the charcoal BBQ isn’t available past 9pm, and they only have the burner and the hot plate, which was fine. But this (see picture) was definitely not what I was expecting from a KBBQ joint, this is also when the waitress told me that our meat is ready. The supervisor also assured us that this is how it’s normally cooked, I’ll let the photo speak for itself.Personally have not had any worse KBBQ experience than this.If you’d like to smell like barbecue and have broiled meat, please do visit.

We have been to this restaurant several times. Often no services but good quality food, but tonight the oven cannot work well, fire was too small to cook the thick pork slices, we ask for change the oven, no one helps us to fix the problem. The pork slices taste extremely bad because of the small fire!! Very disappointed!!

No surprise that few Koreans come here.There are so many better places to try authentic Korean dishes near Flagstaff and Collins Street. Only thing going for this place is the location.Would like to challenge the chef to a 김치전 challenge. Their attempt is woeful.

TERRIBLE!!!THE WORST!!!NO GARLICNO CHILLIWe ordered 2 sets but only gave 1 small lettuce basket. When asked for a second lettuce basket. They said it would cost $5.Beef is very fattening and spitted out after chewing for some time.

Great for late night dinner. Friendly staff. Kbbq quantity is a bit on the low end and staff for some reason use baking paper on kbbq which is annoying.

Staff was super inattentive to our barbecue. he told us that the pork belly was ready to eat when it was literally still raw in the middle. if i hadn’t looked closer, my partner and i would have ended up eating raw meat. i felt nauseous after literally 5 bites of the ox tongue. it took them extremely long just to bring us some water after sitting down. they brought out our rice 10 minutes before they actually put any meat on the barbecue and since they had seated us right next to the door on an extremely cold day, our rice was obviously cold by the time the meat was done. prices are way too high considering portion size and quality. will not return and do not recommend.

Got there less than 10 mins prior to our booking time but G2s staff wont let us in. We then waited outside till 1 min prior to our booking time and was told that “still 1 more minute”. We were a bit upset as upstairs actually had MANY empty seats. Not too sure why they did that. The service wouldn’t be a big deal if the food worth the price, but… OX tongue was too hard to chew, cube roll was unbelievable salty, seafood pancake and the soup were veryyy average. And, their staff wouldn’t change the barbecue plate for you unless you ask for. We ended up paying $55 pp for that meal. This type of service and food quality was ridiculous. Never ever come back.

Went for night dinner. Brought a few things to eat and most their dishes tasted real good! We enjoyed the taste of the dishes. My fiancé ordered the waffle and ice cream dessert for $12 because the picture they had advertised had strawberries and blue berries. When it was served to us, all the blue berries and strawberries were frozen solid. The ice-cream they served also had ice crystals in it. We asked if we could have fresh berries but the waitress and manager said that it would cost at least $20 if they were to serve it with fresh berries. We then asked for a refund but they refused to give us one and expected us to eat it without the berries stating “we don’t go by the pictures we go by the title which is Waffles and ice cream. The berries are just for show”. Was pretty disappointed. Food was great but dessert was really poor 👎🏼

Went for a function with 16 people but they made an error/mistakenly forgot our reservation. They did compromise by arranging seating for everyone. Its a good vibe in there, food was great and pricing is good value. We had the banquets and was really enjoyable. Staff friendly.

Great food, good service, and they seemed under staffed too. So thats a good sign for them to be on top of things. Did have to wave them down a couple of times to ask for more water and the menu, but nothing to complain about. Decent value for money, some staff are English as a 2nd language, so can be a bit lost in translation. But great food, parents enjoyed it too, so thats a win.

Food was good except one of the waiters wanted to clear the hot plate asap to clear the table, but didnt check that there was meat on it. This resulted in 4 pieces of meat on the ground. No compensation provided. Probably wont be returning anytime soon.

Food is no taste. I dont feel like we were eating Korean BBQ. There is no side dishes until we ask for it and kim chi is warm. I thought it has to be cold. I feel really unwelcome and dont exist here although we have almost 20 people. The staff are slow, forget everything. I asked again and they got angry. Why on earth we have to wait for one stove to cook when we have a lot of people? Too expensive for worst. There are more to complain but I just stop here. Bye bye G2.

Simply put, dont come here. For this price point, it isnt far off from better Korean barbecue places. Only came here because it was a Saturday night and obviously the better places were fully booked. Alarm bells were going off when you walk into this place on a Saturday night and it isnt full. Ordered the pork combo set (spicy pork belly, unseasoned pork scotch and sweet pork scotch) which came with an entree (ordered seafood pancake). Also ordered an extra ox tongue. Honestly was so substandard I almost puked. Everything about it was just bad. Was wondering if I ordered the kimchi pancake or the seafood pancake halfway through cause there was minimal seafood in it. Also felt as if it came out of the microwave. Felt uncooked and not delicious. Side dishes were alright though, Ill give them that. But otherwise, go somewhere else if youre planning on coming here.

My partner and I went to G2 after a very long day of flying but despite the late hour, the staff at G2 were awesome! Right from when we walked in the door, we were made to feel like old friends, and the food was so amazing that we ended up going back again the next night. Thanks Team G2 for your hospitality, especially Ji-Yong. We are relocating our family to Melbourne at the end of this month and can’t wait to be regular visitors to G 2.

Very unfriendly waiter staff and wagyu beef was a boiled consistency. When I asked what one of the sauces was the waiter replied “nothing”?!?

Food is delicious but in my opinion some staff need more attention to detail and more initiative to serve customers. We didnt have spoon till the food came out. And they even didnt offer or gave tap water to us. Especially this thing happened when it wasnt busy. Only 2 tables. The quality is not worth the price at this restaurant. $28 for a fried chicken main with nothing special about the size, presentation, ingredients or quality. A place with a menu that expensive, apparently cant afford a Spotify subscription without ads while youre eating dinner.We ordered food which was forgotten, the beer jug was double charged, and the discount cocktail on the menu was charged at full price.Would not recommend this place. One extra star for atmosphere which was kind of OK.

Food was average, be careful with spicy options because they are very spicy. We had spicy chicken and pork belly with calamari. Spicy ratio was for one dish 2 and another dish 1 and they were equally spicy. Pork belly dish was very oily and calamari was very rubbery.

First visited this place half a year ago, late at night. Many of the dishes were average, but the fact that it was OPEN offset the stickiness and general not very clean feeling of the place. However, the fish cake soup was the best Id had in Melbourne, peppery and strong.Went back recently to eat that particular dish, only to see a poster in the window stating it was only available from 9pm onwards. Asked a server if they could make an exception, but no. Fair enough.Tried again recently, and made sure I was there after 9pm this time. We were seated fairly quickly, but was a bit alarmed when they started setting out BBQ before we had ordered and without asking if we were eating dishes or BBQ. When the waiter cane to take our order, I told him I wanted the fish cake soup. He said that menu was only Sunday to Thursday, which I saw the ala carte version was. However the poster of the set in the window didnt have days on it, and he acknowledged that yes, the late night menu did have it all week. So I said I would like the set then, as long as I could have that dish.Waiter then tells me that they havent started serving it yet and its Valentines Day. The restaurant 1) isnt full at 9:45pm and 2) it is 9:45pm now and the late night menu starts at 9. When I tell him this, he says I can wait an hour until late night kicks in, at which point I point out that time. In a disgruntled tone he says hell ask the manager.Now ahjumma bustles out with a pinched mouth some time later as the clock inches closer to 10 and tells me they dont normally do it. I say Im happy to order other food as long as I can have the dish I want as well. Eventually she says she will check if the kitchen can do it (?? Its now 10 mins to 10, and late night was supposed to kick in 50 mins ago) and eventually comes back to tell me I can have it.Sour taste in my mouth from the poor service notwithstanding, the peach makgeolli is lovely and the BBQ average, and finally I get my fish cake soup.When paying, my friends see a poster saying there was free dessert when dining tonight. They point this out to the cashier who quickly makes up an excuse that we didnt order a set menu. Lets see. I TRIED, but you kept saying it was too early. The poster for the dessert also does not have fine print saying its for a specific set.I guess I can only conclude that although most of the staff are friendly, management encourages them to be misleading and one really shouldnt print posters and menus that say things you wont follow. In fact, Consumer Law says that.There being many lovely Korean eateries around, cant see the need to come back to this.

Upstairs area is rather nice on a quiet night, good to go with a few friends and the food and choices available are good too. Theres often a special offer available too. Theres Soju, if youre looking for some rather cheap alcohol to go along with the meal.

Good food, however service was very lackluster. We ordered food and firstly, we didnt get any side dishes which is usually given in most Korean places. Ive been there before and I think we got them last time. Anyway, the meat came and was cooked before we got our rice and sauce for the meat. I had to ask them a couple of times for it to be delivered. We also had to ask for a bowl for our soup because it was not given to us. Hopefully this is just a one time thing because I have been there before and the service wasnt this bad.

Im pro tourist and i dont believe internet information about some awesome kitchens. Because netizen always say positive comments... like delicious and tasty... but G2 is real!!! This kitchen is my dream like meeting MJ. His airness!!! I think this kitchen serves korean national food by traditional method. I think the chef of this kitchen is paik jong won. He can make all menu to Massichu?. This place feels like Pusan or Daegu. It makes me happy because now i dont need to visit korea for food trip. I like Korea and general park. When i was in this kitten, i felt some dramatic feelings and i thought i am king. Because gentle clerks work very hard. Especially Jang is best!!! When i was in routine condition. i dont like writing about food or kitchen, but now im writing about g2s greatness. G2 means god and goddess. So handsome guys and beautiful women must go this place. What are you doing? Stand up please. Im very exciting. Visiting g2 is my best experience. I want to eat this food forever and everyday in my house. My friend always says g2 will be five star super flying powerful kitchen. I believe it is real... taste the real korean style food and take it easy~~

Originally a 4 star review and then a 3 star now have to change to a 2 star. What was once one of my favourite lunch places is now not recommendable. The Beef bulgogi here used to be excellent especially given the price but the quality went down and became chewy and stringy, being probably made from lower quality meat and similar story with the spicy pork. I visited last week to see if anything has changed and indeed it did as they bumped up the price by 50%.

Had to change my review from 5 to 1 star after I ate here again last night. The two of us were told at 10pm that we had to sit downstairs, right where the front door opens - even though there were other tables for two set up downstairs that we could have used. We were given a small laminated pub menu and told thats the menu now. I was incredulous but accepted it.But when the next two people came in, they sat at the table next to ours, then asked to go upstairs, and up they went?! Then a table of two, then seven, then four came in, all asked to go upstairs, and all were allowed up (even though tables were still free downstairs). They were all definitely walk-ins.I felt discriminated against because I wasnt Korean. Despite coming here every time I come to Melbourne, I wont be back again
