There are 108 different forms of Buddha here. Photography is not allowed inside the monastery. Very calm place. You can enter inside and just sit and meditate. The village beside the monastery is also a nice getaway for a couple of days. It has good sunrise views and is in the bordering area between India and Nepal.
Megma - floating in clouds- 2970m/ 9544 ft - my ancestral hometown. The Gumba called Sangchen Ugagyur Yoedsel Dechen Choling Monastery was built by my late grandfather Pasang Tamang - 1958 - was often called Bhalu Khore Mandal..the fact was he fought with a bear and his nose was badly bitten by the bear but he hunted & killed the bear. This monastery is the only second one in Asia which has 108 figures all handmade by lamas from Bhutan under the supervision of Chatryal Rimpuchhe who lays in rest in Pharphing. In Buddhism it is believed that when we die we see these figures on our way to heaven. So if you see them when you are alive we will not be scared when we meet them after death. Ancient very valuable relics/ holy scriptures are also found here. The road leading to Tonglu was also built by him. Best time to visit is from March -May then in October till winter. The best day is Buddha Purnima when people from far & near come.
The monastery is located in the beautiful little village of Meghma on the Indo-Nepal border. It is on the Manebhanjang-Sandakphu trek route. There is a Guest House offering board and lodging on the Indian side and this monastery is on the Nepal side fenced in by a barbed wire, but easily accessible through a metal gate. There is a BSF camp across the road from the monastery. We visited the monastery in the evening since we were staying in the guest house. We could hear the chanting and drums beating of the Buddhist prayers, and rotated the prayer wheels for the Buddhas blessings.Meghma means In the Clouds and this place becomes very mesmerising when the clouds roll in to the village and the monastery.
Nice place to halt on way to Tumling. Take your breakfast. Visit the Monastery nearby on Nepal side.
A small abut peaceful place of worship. As the place named Meghma..it is in the lap of clouds. Lovely place. You can get good food in front of the Monastery.
Its a nice place for trekking. From here I observed sunrise over dense clouds.
