This temple has divine vibes. One interesting thing is that there is a pipe connected from outside of the grilled side-gate to the inside that allows devotees to offer abhishek onto the main shiv linga which is such a thoughtful idea. Apart from the main linga, there are so many small ones that are located on the left hand side of the main entrance, where abhishek and flowers are offered by the devotees personally without a priest being involved. I have been to many shiv temples, and this one has a unique touch of its own. A must-visit temple in mathura

The eternal area-protector (kṣetra-pāla) on Mathurā’s western side is Bhūteśvara Mahādeva. In the same temple compound is the cave of Pātāla-devī, whom Kaṁsa worshipped, and a little further on are Potrā-kuṇḍa, Ādikeśava and Śrī Kṛṣṇa Janma-sthāna. We then reach Jñāna-vāpī, or Jñāna-bāvaḍī.Excerpt from the book Sri Vraja-mandal Parikrama by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja

Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the oldest temples of Mathura, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The presiding deity of Lord Shiva is referred to as Bhuteshwar Mahadev. The sanctum of this temple measures around 100 sq. m in area. It is believed that Lord Shiva came to Braj and resided as the protector of Lord Krishnas abode, Sri Vrindavan Dham. The temple also encompasses the cave of Patal Devi, who was worshipped by King Kansa. In the month of Sawan, during five Mondays, the temple is thronged by many devotees.

Bhuteshwar Mahadev Mandir is a revered Hindu temple situated in Garravkendra, Mathura dedicated to Lord Shiva, also known as Bhuteshwar Mahadev. It is also a Shaktipeeth where the ringlet of Mata Sati fell after her body was destroyed. The shrine is considered auspicious and unique as it is one of the very few temples in the city which is not dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Shri Bhuteshwar Nath Mahadev is also the Lokpal or the The Revered Chief of Mathura and 84 kosh Braj kshetra. He is also revered here as the Bhuteshwar Nath or the Lord od the Bhootas or the Ghost and is the manifestation of Kashi Vishwanath ji in Mathura. The story goes like this :Lord Krishna promised to take Devaki Vasudev to all the piligrimage or theerthas, Lord invited all the holy Dhams to manifest in Braj but Ganga Devi and Kashi Vishwanath ji didnt come. Gangaji had an inhibition to come to Vraj because she had to cross her sister Yamuna ji and because of which her pride would impact so Lord manifested her as Mansi Ganga and Kashi Vishwanath as Bhuteshwar Nath.Madhu Kaitab were two demons who were killed by Mother Durga, the son of Madhu Lavnasur created great ruckus in Mathura city and Lord Rama ordered his younger brother Shatrughan to kill him but Shatrughan was defeated thrice. Lord Rama asked him to worshi Lord Bhuteshwar Nath just like he worshipped Rameshwar Nath at Rameshwaram before his battle trip to Lanka to kill Ravana. Shatrughan worshipped Lord Shiva here and thus was able to kill Lavnasur. Further this is place is also a shakti peetha where the kesha or Hair od Maa Sati dropped. Thus obe get the advantage of having darshan of both Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati here. The divine shivling is truly amazing to behold asli Lord is viewing all his devotees with open eyes. The shringaar is very beautiful and festivals are cekebrated hete with great pomp and joy. One should not miss to visit here whenever in Braj Dham. Om Namah Shivay, Jai Shri Radhey Shyam

In vrindavan, the braj bhoomi this is one of the most well known Shiva temple. The place is frequented by shiva followers and can be reached very easily. From govardhan chowraha you can take an auto for bhooteshwar. They charge you ten ruppees. There are many shops around the place. The temple is not under any trust and is still a privately managed one.
