Mathur Grama Panchayat is vast in area with sectors I and 2. The population is mainly traditional inhabitants. The main business is agriculture. The GP comes under Kuzhalmannam block . The GP undertakes many developmental activities which include monetary aid for marriage of women hailing from SC, old age pension to unmarried women above 50 etc. The GP implements other centrally sponsored schemes also. There are many temples and a few churches and mosques in the Panchayat. Many men of eminence & scholars hail from this Panchayat. 【Former Chief Secretary of the gov. of Kerala, who further occupied the post of Election Commission of Kerala viz Shri: Palat Mohandas (IAS) was born in Mathur】It appears that the GP has not finalised the annual report for the financial year ended on 31.03.2019.Incidentally it is noted that the banyan tree at the nearby bus stop is special with thousands of stem branches.
