We took the rickety old ferry through the backwaters via umpteen ferry stops in the middle of nowhere to Kottayam about 2.5 hrs away.its near to vaikam mahadeva temple and that was a pleasing experience . Enjoyed alot. Exploring kottayam. The boat jetty is near by the ktdc beer parlour .A small and beautiful ferry in kottayam

Chirekkadavu ferry is the local ferry service connecting Chirekkadavu area of Edavattom with Thalayolaparambu town. Maravanthruruthu Grama Panchayath operates this ferry service thru contract basis. Medium size country boat available with the capacity of around 10Pax per trip. Vehicles are not permitted except by-cycles. Ferry normally operates from 06.00 until 07.00PM. For emergency nearby residents facilitates during the night time. People normally utilizes this as an easy way of commuting for their daily routine like school /college /offices rather going for the nearby bridges Palamkadavu and Pottenchira both connects to Thalayolaparambu but are at around 2 kms from this part.
