Worst post office in India. I have traveled extensively across India and often post things from different places. The queues I expect. The dogmatic, officious rule following I expect. Here the staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. They lie. I was told a parcel I had sent was held because it was packed wrong when it had already arrived in the UK.Avoid if at all possible. There is a post office in Arambol which may be better.

Terribly rude unhelpful middle aged woman on the front counter, at 2pm told me the counter is closed when they are open until 5pm, taking great pleasure in the fact Id have to come back tomorrow. Unhelpful is an understatement. Absolute joke of a service, Modi should fire these terrible gov employees. Went to a local courier instead... avoid if you can..

The government employees are very lathargic and have a very casual behaviour towards customers. Today I went to send a registered post a day I stood in a queue After 20 minutes the pc stopped functioning The employee was struggling to fix it but couldnt. After another 10 minutes the electricity went off and I had to wait again for another 20 minutes for the electricity to come Finally the lights didnt come and I had to rush back to pick my 4 years daughter at 12pm from the school. In this time when digital India campaign is going on there is no generator for backup ofelectricity. I felt I was in 70 80s .It took me 30 years back and no where I could feel its a modern India ....!

Service was very slow. And the place is always crowded. You would be spending anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on the crowd.

Absolutely horrendous. Queues of people waiting to post their parcels and letters and only one counter open. Meanwhile five people stand idle watching a technician try to repair a computer. After waiting for an hour and a half in the slowest moving line on Earth the clerk was extremely rude turning his face away and grinning at colleagues rather than helping with concerns. If there is another option please avoid Mapusa post office at all costs.

This is the biggest post office in coastal North Goa. Because of its nearness to the coastal belt, they have a lot of work and keep busy specially with many parcels being sent back home by tourists from places like Russia, Britain, Germany, Scandinavia, etc.Ive used this postal outlet for years. Had both my ups and downs here.In a context where postal services are fading away, if not dying, thanks to email and the internet, this post office has a booming service, specially as far as it registered post counter goes. You can expect a longish queue some times of the day here, but if youre lucky the service can also be fast. The main counters are on the ground floor (a bit elevated from the road level). The busiest, as noted above, tend to be the registered mail counter/s -- because this service is both affordable and reliable. Ive sent hundreds of letters and packets, and may have had problems with just one or two.On certain days of the month, the other counters get busy due to electricity/phone bill payments, pensions or whatever. The first counter, which sells stamps, is largely non-busy and seldom with a queue. This post office also accepts RTI (right to information) applications for onwards transmission to Central government offices. It offers Speedpost and other services.Railway tickets are booked here, but its quite likely that the services may be down due to a problem with the link, or human reluctance. My main grouse is that sometimes the services are shut down far before schedule. For long, we were being told that registered letters could be accepted only upto 3 pm daily. When I approached the postal authorities with an RTI (right to information) query, I found that the actual timings were 4 pm daily (except Saturdays).Caveat: if youre told the services are closed, check the timings on the board displayed there. The fine print!Theres an interesting map of Mapusa, showing the postmens routes ... It is just opposite the currently-being-rebuilt Mapusa police station. Just outside, two private individuals offer fairly efficient and affordable (unlike at Panjim) packaging services. They will wrap and stitch your outgoing parcels in white cloth, so that it reaches safely (but make sure you send by registered post. The photo alongside, in black-and-white, is of the old Portuguese era post office. Its still used for part of the operations. But the main post office has shifted to a newer building just across the road.
