Gudbud ice cream was out of this world. Vegetable cutlet was superb. One must try these two items.

Took my family to the restaurant to relive my childhood memories. The gadbad was pathetic. The restaurant was unhygienic. The bathroom was really poorly maintained too.Its sad to see such an awesome brand deteriorate so much.

Try Cold Horlicks. It still maintains the same tatse evn after decades

Old Diana tasted better for some reasons. Anyways This one too is good. Some snacks like bombay cutlet and dahi wada are unique. Parking and going up to second floor for just a cup of tea may not be worth it as we used to do that at old diana.

The lost pride. Quality, service, taste deteriorated over years. Taste and Quality of food except few items(cutlet, dosa and Gudbud ice cream) rest all are not good. Very pricy. Per person costs avg INR350+. Not worth visiting any more.

Diana has lost its charm after it moved from its original location (near Diana circle) to brand new building. Now it feels like any other hotel, no uniqueness is left. Gadbad now costs 120 Rs.Had dinner in their restaurant- they rounded of 498.76 as 499. I paid exact amount using Google pay but manager insisted I should have paid 499...Food is good, but open for limited hours only and have to go up two floors.

Went here to try Gudbud icecream as suggested by friends.Was not up-to the mark. Other food items were good though.

One of the famous resturants in Udupi which was famous during good old days which was situated near Diana circle and now shifted to another place opposite Big bazar udupi. Now Daina hotel has lodging and boarding services. The Daina restaurant is quite famous for their signature dish Cutlet and Gadbad icecream. We have tried GadBud here, it was good. And food here are not much great and dont keep much expectations on food on basis of the brand Daina.

Best 3 items that everyone suggest are1. Cutlet2. Puri3. Gadbad

Gudbud is very good here compared to other restaurants locally and the staff were cooperative. Its located near main road so one can easily identify the restaurant.

After staying at Diana so many times in the past, I opted for it this time round too. Expected it to be extra careful due to the ongoing Covid Pandemic. Unfortunately, I was terribly disappointed by the deterioration of their standards. I hope they will take this review seriously & positively and address the shortcomings so that they restore their original standards again. I wish them well.

This review is for the restaurant Diana. This hoods nostalgic value to me as 8 have had lot of good times here as a kid. My fav dish was the poori kurma which tatsed heavenly. Also chana bhatura and dahi vada, vegetable cutlet were fantastic back in the days. Unfortunately the food does not taste as good as it used to earlier. But I keep going back once in a while for a piece of nostalgia.

Ok ok as per other reviews n soo much liked i visited but i was not satisfied with cutles dosa n gadbad icecream 🍨. It was just an normal type as per my expectations.

I would not prefer this hotel due to the attitude of management. I had booked my trip to Udupi on Dec 22 for 2 dyas and had picked this hotel as I had stayed there before. As they have restaurant in same building it was convenient for us when we are staying with small kids. While I was driving from Bangalore to Udupi ,I got to know about anti CAA riots in Mangalore. I had to cancel my trip and return as they werent letting anybody enter Mangalore. So I had to cancel the hotel stay. Since I was on road and due to poor network I was delayed by an hour as per cancellation policy. Hotel management refused to refund any amount. They did not respond positively to any of my call or emails. It is 5500 rs for 2 days. Management was not able to understand the situation I was going through but fixed on policy.As I had booked it through Makemytrip, they honoured my request and refunded 50% of booking amount. I feel they are just making money from the situation without respecting loyalty of guest.

Went to this place after hearing great reviews about icecreams. A very average place I must say... only fruits are stuffed in gadbad. Something called Sunday queen had very bad tasting chocolate sauce.... even food options are very very limited. Nothing compared to Pabbas

Well I have been frequenting this establishment since I was a kid and the hotel was at the Diana circle.😄. The chole bature the masala dosa and the taste of the sambar has remained the same ever since 1998. Thats everytime I have visited I dont reside in Udupi so thats not very often but atleast 3 times in year. Thats a dipstick review though. I would say if you are in town then you got to go there for these dishes.

Hotel Diana is a very old and well known restaurant from Udupi which only recently got into the fold of Oyo. The review is only for the restaurant and not for the lodge. Oyo rooms in general are substandard. This restaurant was famous for its cutlets, and gudbud ice cream. Recently I ate, idli, rava idli, and dosa at this restaurant. All three were reasonably good. The coffee was good too. Seems like the quality is slowly coming back. I will try the cutlets next time around, and update my review. Till then enjoy!!

This place used to be so great. Back in the day we used to head to Diana (former place) just for the gadbad and the experience there (the spiral ramp to the first floor).It’s changed a lot. Even the gadbad doesn’t taste as good as it used to.My most recent experience was kinda bad. I had ordered a cutlet which tasted like it was stale and even had the stale smell. And when I called the waiter and informed him, he immediately jumped on the defense wagon and told me this was the first time EVER they received a complaint about their cutlet! (He said it in a nice way though). I asked him to smell the cutlet and he didn’t get the stale smell and even the chef apparently said it’s good (Ofcourse they would say what they prepared is good). anyway I returned it and they didn’t charge me for it.But still, Diana having such a great reputation seems to be just letting all our old memories down.

One of the oldest restaurants and ice cream parlor in udupi. A must visit place... Best known for ice creams, cutlet and pooris served with variety of dishes.... The cutlet is the best seller here and is a must try... Poori dingri masala and poori with panner butter masala are amazing... When it comes to ice cream, the chococake slab available here has bern my all time favorite.North, south and chinese cuisine available...normally crowded in the evening...

Diana is famous restorent in Udupi for typical south indian dishes, deserts, and ice creams. Alough its in 1st floor there is facility of lift. Normally during late evening there will be some waiting. Food is hygienic and tasty. Cost is reasonable. Good for family outing.

If you not taking Oyo booking, plz remove from Oyo group and give hotel booking site on Google map.They have not given bill for my father who has stayed there on 2nd Feb 2020. No one was there in the reception while check in and check out. Watchmen controls everything.

I have booked this hotel through OYO, but hotel guy not ready to provide the room since they dont have time up with OYO. And refund amount for that booking OYO not giving back even 2months completed. Spoke to OYO customer care many time. Keep on sending message refund initiated but amount not giving back. Looks like OYO cheating for such kind of things. So dont book this hotel through OYO and dont pay the money to OYO for any booking otherwise they will stole your money without providing the room.

It was a good restaurant. It was neat and tidy. The one major problem that I occurred is when I bought my Innova crysta it was tough because this restaurant didnt have any parking lot to park our car.with great difficulty I parked my car somewhere at the edge of the road.the owner receptionist acted as a owner of the restaurant .the restaurant was too good.the ice-cream was the best. We went to the restaurant. It quite a well known place. The cutlets are famous. In Udupi and especially in Diana, all dishes including pav bhaji, gravies are sweet. Only the chutney was not sweet. The ice creams are famous and good.

Not only this restaurant has lost its old time charm, but also the food tastes differently than the original Diana cuisine.. For instance, the classic Diana signature cuisines- Masala Dosa and Gudbud tastes totally different than what it used to be in the past..I wonder its not true Diana at all.. Class restaurant, all foods are very tasty. I am giving 5 starThe whole building has owned by Diana Hotel but wash room is very bad shape, management is not worried to maintain well. Also they need to clean hourly basis and to be maintain the register. No dryer to dry the hand. Usually known for its ice-creams and snack, this place lived up to our expectations. We dropped in here for our dinner. Masala Dosa on most tables was very inviting and ordered the same and it surely was very tasty. After the Dosas, we tried their very well known Gud-bud and Honeymoon special ice-creams. Both of which were highly delicious! To end, being Coffee lovers, we had coffee and sure was aromatic, hot and strong!Overall a pleasant experience. A must try place at Udupi.

Musty try poori n ice cream amazing taste

Diana used to be the iconic place of Udupi. First thing that comes to mind when you hear of Udupi is Krishna mutt followed by Diana.I have been visiting this place from my childhood. The old place had a charm, there was open area on the ground floor with aquarium and those long table fans and easy chairs. The new place looks too materialistic and food quality went down once they moved to this new place. The things I always liked here were Gudbud, Cutlet and poori Kurma. Except for Gudbud nothing taste good here. Even the famous dahi vada here is no more the same. On top of it the menu is overpriced. So much so that its expensive than popular places in Mangalore and even Bangalore !

Located next to a park and in a peaceful locality. Ambiance is good and staff members are nice.Limited items in menu, but food is nice. Order will take a while though, but scenic window view will help. Food quantity is quite less, so that should be kept in mind while ordering.Overall one of the best restaurants in udupi.

Visited the restaurant, food and ice cream was okay. Washrooms were in a pathetic condition. No dustbins, used sanitary pads and tissues were on the floor and counters. When I informed the person at the cash counter, he acted like it didnt matter.Definitely not coming back here. It isnt worth the hype it once had.

Hotel Diana is a well known name in Udupi district they are famous for their Cutlets and Gudbud ice cream. I visited the place after over 15 years or so. The taste doesnt seem to amaze me anymore as how it was back in those days. I still feel Pabbas has the best Cutlets and Ice Creams.

It is a symbol of UDUPIS pride. The Gadbad ice cream is a must eat to all who visit Udupi and what place better than to have it here. The hotel shifted to its new premises a few years back and has still not lost its charm. South Indian menus like idli and Dosa are very tasty. Cutlets and puri- Bhaji are also yummy.

The one thing Diana Hotel had defined was Yummy Gudbud Ice cream the food was awesome before and was one of a kind..But its sad that now the magic in the taste of food has vanished.. Food tastes below average.. Sorry to say that.. Cleanliness.. Service...Are no doubt good..But the key factor for any hotel i.e food has disappointed me.. Hope we get those old golden Diana days back..

I could have given 4 stars but reducing to 3 as the people who serve the customers have too much head weight. Not even 1% of customer first attitude. Other than that good food and ice creams. If you have patience to wait even if the restaurant is free then a must visit.

This hotel server very good food. Know for its cleaninesss, good ambience and very good service. Some of the must try items Puri dingri masala, idly fry, dhai vada and cutlet these are the specialities here. Other items are also good. You can definitely go for it without any fear.

I am visiting this hotel from a very long time and the quality has been the same.Best hotel in entire udupi.

We did keep our expectations realistic and reasonable. The new location has some great ambiance and furniture and is now located at an up-market place. But the service does not really match the new styling nor is it like the olden Diana days. It is pure vegetarian food here.Their poori - saagu & Masala Dosa was terrific. But the famed cutlet was served with some burnt tadka (oggaranae). Their tableware is strange too. They serve almost all the food incl. poori & dosa in quarter or smaller sized plates, which is a bit difficult. Also they have this queer thing of adding glucose to juices and serve. Even when we ordered no sugar in the juice, it was loaded with spoonfuls.Alas every business has its own struggles & fame to battle. Overall good, but keep do not over-expect.

Really tasty food served. And one of the best places to have varieties of ice creams. Have tasted almost all of them. Horlicks and Bournvita ice creams are my favorite. Pretty fast service, which is rare in most hotels in Udupi. Love the place.

This is situated diagonally opposite to old udupi taluk office, which is easy to locate, and multiple transport options like private bus, govt bus, autorickshaw access to reach the udupi bus stand which is just 1.2km ahead. You will find icici atm, manipal hospital, big bazaar and choice of restaurants to suit your taste buds and a medical store at a walkable distance from this Hotel Diana. Its a huge advantage to stay here.

OK proper parking facility

After a lot of persuasion from my wife (who is a die hard fan of this hotel) we went in for a quick bite. We tried their world famous cutlet and bread masala.To be frank, i did not find anything astronomical about it. Both the items were just okay taste wise. The inside of the cutlet was more soggy, i felt. bread masala was average.Another unique item we tried was grape gel ice cream which was good.Apparently this place used to serve very tasty food, sometime back.I give 3 stars for the food. 1 for cutlet, 1 for bread masala, 1 for grape gel.**Did you know** : world famous gadbad ice cream (famous in mangalore) was invented in Diana hotel.

Do not go there. Seriously. I was sick for 3 days straight (along with 2 other family members I ate with). And its really, really not worth the prices.We had their icecream. The icecream itself was of subpar quality, but the disgusting, almost rotting fruit they added to it was what really shocked us. Wed expected good quality stuff+fruits/nuts because Diana has a reputation as an icecream place but apparently expecting even decent quality is too much lolOh and they close at 9:15 pm even on a Saturday night, but if you arrive at 9:20 pm, they will take you upstairs and give you really bad service and icecream for a quick profit without caring if you are uncomfortable or if you get sick from the the food 🤷🏻‍♂ because here money>>ethicsWord of advice? Go to Kediyoor instead.

Place has lost its Sheen and taste. Gudbud had strawberry which tasted like cough syrup. Better to avoid the place and save couple of bucks.

I visit Diana every time I am in my hometown. We had few puri kurmas, gadbads, cold horlicks, a dahi wada and a falooda.I felt the puri quality should have been better but the kurma was good. Diana has been an old favorite. This place has a different charm. My all time favorite has to be the Horlicks Ice cream, 30% (a ginger based mocktail), poori Kurma, ... this list can go on. Lot of memories attached from the childhood days. A must visit place in Udupi. Ask them for their specialities and do taste the above mentioned items. A big thumps up with a big smile on my face 😃

An old institution in the heart of Udupi serving delicious, lip smacking vegetarian dishes. Their hospitality and service will leave you mind blown and ambience is modern. Might need to wait a bit as there is always a rush here but definitely worth the visit.

Tasty food and good service

This is my favourite restaurant for the past 50 years. It deserves 5 star rating but reduced to 4 because of the following reason. My favourite item was vegetable cutlets. But, nowadays they serve vegetable cutlets with refrigerated chutney which is not good. My next item was cold Horlicks. The earlier taste is missing. I feel they are adding some artificial essence.i dont know exactly what they are adding.But, the earlier taste is missing. Otherwise, this is one of the great restaurant. Their Masala dosa, Dahiwada, Poori Bhaji are excellent. But, their signature items are veg cutlets, cold Horlicks and gadbud.

Location is good, ample parking available and you have a good view from the restaurant. This restaurant has been a local favourite and a must do activities for outsiders. Their famous dish is the poor kurma, Chole batura and the veg. Cutlet.

Dont miss the ice creams. One of the good options for vegetarian food. We had nice experience here.

Restaurant serves really good food! Hotels shop on the ground floor has a lot of foodstuff and toiletries. Although the food is served in less quantities than that they used to serve at the old restaurant location and parking is not always available, the hotel is overall good
