All single room..

Rooms are nicely made but not the bathrooms and toilets specially the left side wing i have been there for around a year so i know well about that you will face water problem specially in left side wingone problem with the right side wing is that there is a lots of sound of traffic there as it is very close to the main highway specially in the right most 3 to 4 roomsone big issue i faced there is that there is a lot of water wastage there the they dont close motar after filling the tankno electricity problem i have ever faced it went around 4 to 5 times in a year and i think that is fine.talking about mess that is good but not as compared of 8 block mess i love that one the bestthere is no roof top or terrace there this is what i wanted the most.

Good and peace palace with single room and wlan facility..

One of the very good hostels of NITK which provides single rooms. During my M.tech, we were allotted rooms here in this hostel, while few other branches got the rooms at Mega Tower. The best advantage of 5th block hostel is that, here we have LANs while Megs towers dont have LAN, so many of the rooms face Internet connectivity issue if their room is not close to Routers.

Nice hostel. My only problem is that they have only one charging port.

Rooms are quite spacious for a single person. They are bright and usually calm if the wing is away from the highway.

A better option for second year students getting the flavor of single rooms after being saturated in first year in triple sharing room. Rooms are pretty good and the only problem you can face is that with the fan. The fans are too old and small but it is manageable. Even though four floors are there in the fifth block hostel(including the ground floor) but still Lift is not there. There are lot of spaces for parking bicycles in the front area and in the ground floor too. Just outside at the distance of hundred steps one cafeteria is there and you can find there tea, coffee, noodles, hot drinks, cold drinks, snacks etc. There is a mess attached with the fifth block only in the ground floor called as fifth block mess, the mess is pretty good and it is non veg Kerala mess. Though name is Kerala mess but the foods they serve are almost in the North style, the Kerala is just for the sake of name :p. The front of the fifth block is surrounded by the mega towers and on the left side of fifth block the highway passes through hence the left most Rooms people might get annoyed by the high speed vehicles passing through beside. Although my room was towards the road side but the vehicular annoying sounds were pretty less and you will get habituated to it. Full WiFi facility is there in the entire hostel ( actually the entire campus is WiFi-Router installed :P) and also LAN connection is there in each room(in my time it was there). Overall best option for second year guys before getting super single rooms in mega Towers from third year of academic ( Mega Towers are for BTech only).

Better than 3rd and 4th block

Compared to mega towers infrastructure is not that good. But internet speed is really good as LAN ports are available in every room unlike mega towers.

The best choice for 2nd year guys(single sitter rooms xD)

Stayed here for one year...best breeze in 3rd floor.
