Very peaceful place to pray God Amravaneswarar and Goddess Arulmigu Balambikai Amman. On the state highway from Trichy to Lalgudi. Ancient temple visited by the famous four nayanmargal Appar, Sundarar, Thirugnana sambandar and Manickavasagar. Regular poojas are being conducted systematically and regularly.

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும்.After having our breakfast, we started towards chennai. we took the lalgudi route, so as to visit the padal petra sthalams on this route, little did we know the wonderful surprises we would encounter during this morning trip.Wonderful early morning ride, road is too narrow, and morning times with school buses racing past one has to be careful while driving here.Reached the temple with lot of fear whether it will be open or not.Lucky for us, it was open, but the priest was not there, as we were about to come out, the priest came in, invited us back to the temple. We were very lucky we had a good aarthi darshan and get prasadhams.A east facing temple, small gopuram infront facing east, Lord faces east, Ambal faces south. no kodimaram. Temple pond present infront of the temple, but in a very bad shape with respect to the quality of the water, but local standing by said it is normal, once water comes for the surrounding fields the level would increase here too and the water will be a good one.Only Saint Thiruganasambandar has visited this temple and sung a pathigam on the lord of the temple. This is one of the Pancha (five) Shiva Temples in Tiruchi region.  Bhagwan Sri Adi Sankara had worshipped Lord here, so also Sage Mrigandu.  Shri Sankara is facing south in the goshta-wall around the sanctum.  Saint Sambandar had sung a pathigam-10 verses in praise of the Lord of this temple while saint Arunagiriar had praised his favourite Lord Muruga in his Tirupugazh.  Mother Durga on the goshta is all cool and smiling with demon Mahishasura absent under Her feet.   Lord Muruga graces from a separate shrine with His consorts Valli and Deivanai.The name Mandurai has its origin as the region was dense with Mango trees and also as Lord blessed a Maan – deer in this place.People pray to Lord for their children facing Balagruha doshas (children affected with adverse aspects of planets during their infancy years) performing milk abishek to Mother for remedy.  For relief from planetary adverse effects, they pray in the Navagraha shrine.Samukya Devi, daughter of divine sculptor Vishwakarma was married to Sun God.  She had a happy marital life with Sun.  As days rolled, she could not bear the heat of her husband.  She asked her husband to reduce his temperature but he did not help her.  Samukya Devi came to the conclusion that she could no more bear the heat and told her father her intention to come to him.  As a father, he quoted scriptures and asked the daughter to be patient.  As she could no longer live with Sun, as a devout wife to take care of husband’s needs, Samukyadevi created a maid, an accurate replica of her, and made her to live with Sun taking care of him.  She was Chayadevi (shadow image).  Samukyadevi did not return to Sun despite her father’s advice and was unwillingly staying with him.  She took the form of a horse, came to this place, performed penance on Lord Shiva to bring down the heat of Sun so that she could return to him.  Sun too found some difference in the attitude of Chayadevi and came to know from Vishwakarma that Samukhyadevi had left him.  He immediately reduced his heat, came to this place, worshipped Lord Shiva and returned with Samukhyadevi.  Representing this event, planet Sun appears in the Navagraha shrine with both Davis – Samukhya and Chaya.  Sun is alone too nearby.  Other planets are facing Sun.  There is also a story attached to the temple that Lord Shiva graced two deers – a demon couple in earlier birth and also a Maharshi on a Chaturdi day (4thday of new moon or full moon day) coinciding with Tuesday – called Ahankara Chatuthi.  Special pujas are performed to Lord on such Chaturti days.  It is said that the benefit of worshipping the Lord this day would relieve devotees from sins committed knowingly or unknowingly and bless them with prosperity.

Lord Shiva

Sage Amaravaneswarar Temple, Lalgudi Taluka Mandara.Lord Shiva is a Swayambumurthi. It is special for the sun to celebrate the sun for three days in the month of March. Prior to the temple, the guard deity was worshiped on the side of the Rajagopuram. This is the 58th anniversary of the 274 Shiva temples of Lord Shiva.This is one of the panchayas in the Trichy area. Adi Shankar is worshiping Amaravaneswarar Pooja. He looks south in the fortress. Lord Krishna also worshiped Swami. Thirugnanasambandar has sung the story of Swami in his second song. Durga in the fortress is in the majesty. Mahishasuran is below her feet. In the prakara, Subramaniar Valli is in the eastern shrine with the goddess. He has sung this song in the Thiruppakkal.The mantra is a monumental place and it is the Siddhathalam which is the grace of the Lord.

Lord Shiva and Parvati, who came in the form of a couple to hunt where they went hunting, knocked them down and cursed them. Lord Shiva and Parvati came here in the form of deer who got it. Goddess Parvati gave milk to the hungry deer.
