A fabulous and risky place, dont go in rainy season, we have seen a lot of land sliding and flood there. But the view and the atmosphere of the place is very beautiful people are cooperative dont touch any building or any other person here, local people believe this place is very holly and they dont allow outsiders to touch anything.

This is an ancient temple in Malana village that is prohibited to touch (a fine of 250 is levied). Malana is known for the best grown charas/weed/grass. The males can take weed openly while it isn’t taken in the right spirit for a female to have the same as she is responsible to involve in religious chores. The sad part is that the children are also found selling weed to tourists. Quite an ecstatic place. That’s right Avid well spotted ” In the close vicnity of the priest’s house is the abode of Jamdagni Rishi called Jamlu Rishi in the local dialect

Awesome placeAt a distance of 48 km from Kullu, 29 km from Manikaran and 88 km from Manali, Jamula Temple is located in Malana village in Parvati valley. Malana is believed to be founded by descendents of Alexander the Greats Army. The Jamula Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to a sage called Jamula Rishi. In ancient days, a sage named Jamlu Rishi lived in Malana. It is believed that the rules and regulations made by Sage Jamlu are still followed by the local people of this village, who belong to Gaddi tribe. They worship Jamlu Rishi as Jamlu Devta, a powerful deity. Visitors are requested not to touch the walls, houses in Malana as people here believe that it will make the place impure. Legend says that the sage was in search of a proper place to meditate. During his search, he carried a bag of 18 pictures of different gods with him. At some point in his hunt, the pictures fell from his bag and spread all across the Beas Valley. The 18 different places, where the pictures supposedly fell, became holy sites for the locals. The temple also serves as a court for resolving disputes of the Malana village. All sorts of disputes are solved by eleven Malana members, who are treated as the delegates of Jamlu Devta. The decision made by these members is vital and no suggestions are taken by any outsider or authority. It is located in the uphill region of the Parvati Valley because of which visitors need to trek to reach the temple. Owing to its picturesque location and religious importance, this temple is counted amongst the major tourist attractions of the region. After 45 km by road from Kullu, visitors have to trek for 3 km (one hour each way) to reach this place. Malana is connected to the Kullu valley by 2 mountain passes. It can be reached from Parvati Valley, Manikaran after a 10-hour trek over the 3180 m high Rasol Pass or from Naggar over the 3600 m high beautiful Chandrakhani Pass, which is a two-day trek. The easiest and shortest way to reach Malana is from the village Jari which is 3 km from Malana and connected to Kullu by road.

Cant say much because of the local tradition of outsiders not being allowed to enter the temple or touch it but then again the tradition extends to the entire village of Malana and the village population. Its a curious sight though as you pass by the temple when walking through the village to the camping sites. I personally request everyone to respect the local population and their tradition so you enjoy your stay in Malana.

One of the most beautiful place to experience the unique culture, traditions and to feel the amazing beauty of the nature. At the same time it seems to be a place visited mostly by the most uncivic tourists on the planet...so much filth left by the people visiting there. A must visit place to feel the nature, learn about an unique culture and at the same time to learn how human beings can ruin a beutiful place to a garbage dump by their uncivic habits.

It is MALANA. Near kasol in himachal best know for their bestbquality weed and othee stuff. The village is unique in itself as people do not allow to touch temple, villager by outsiders. U can stay there in camps outside the village. Village is not maintained properly and filth everywhere which is destroying the beauty. Locals more than tourist littering. Even u will find a big heap of waste just entering the village. The trekking to the village is beautiful. Advisable to go early and come back before dawn and stay in kasol or chalal.

This is the main village temple of the devta Malanvis worship. No one can visit inside or even touch the temple but you can always but dakshna in the box outside after opening your shoes and take the blessings leaves. This is definitely a mystic temple with an enchanting architecture built with wood.

LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.BUT DONT TOUCH IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY 5000 RS CASH.YA, THAT WAS THE MOST DISTURBING THOUGHT I HAD IN MY MIND WHEN I WAS GOING TO MALANA.AND WHEN YOU ASK PEOPLE IN KASOL, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT YOU WOULD MAKE A SCARY IMPRESSION OF MALANA.IN MALANA THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF RITUAL THAT NOBODY OF OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE CAN TOUCH THE TEMPLE OR THE PEOPLE OF MALANA.FROM WHAT I INQUIRED, IT SEEMS LIKE THEY THINK THEIR RACE WILL GET IMPURE/CONTAMINATED IF YOU TOUCH THEM.THERE ARE SAYINGS THAT THESE MALANA PEOPLE ARE THE SUCCESSORS OF ALEXANDER (SIKANDAR AS MANY QUOTE IT).BUT WHEN YOU GET THERE.IT IS NOT THAT WEIRD.IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE WITH WELCOMING PEOPLE.JUST DONT GET TOO FRIENDLY AND TOUCH THEM.HAHATHERE WILL BE PEOPLE RUBBING HASHISH IF GO OUT FOR A WALK.TALK TO THEM, IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR ME.THERE ARE KIDS ALSO. WHO PUT ON A DIFFERENT SAFI(FILTER) WHEN THEY GET THE PASS. BUT TOUCH YOU ONCE IN A WHILE UNDER THE TABLE, MAYBE TO CHECK IF SOMETHING REALLY HAPPENS.IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE, YOU WILL FIND WHY IT IS CALLED MAGICAL.
