I have been calling this clinic several times a week for the past 6 weeks and never get through to anyone nor receive a call back despite leaving numerous voice-mails. I have also emailed but also never get a response back. I tried calling the other dentistry office at vcu and got through with no problem but when they transfer me back to pediatrics no one answers. I was really hoping to get in with this clinic after seeing online that they accept new patients and hearing recommendations from other moms of children with special needs. Unfortunately, getting an appointment here has been impossible. I cant imagine how much more difficult it would be if we were having a dental emergency.

I really love it here. You can expect to be there for no more than an hour tops unless your child needs some extensive restorations done. The staff is definitely friendly.

My children and I are from another state with NO access to old docx. We are NEW to VCU Dental Peds, we havent even seen a provider yet. I called 828-0951 to asked a question to see if my specific issues was URGENT or not.Not only did the female staff members forward me around unnecessarily but refused to send a question to the On-call Provider because my children arent established. The machine message states nothing about children having to be established prior. The female staff members were discourteous, disrespectful, ill-manner, impertinent, inconsiderate, unprofessional. Worse on call answering service I have ever experience. Quit or Hire employees that can do their job and be helpful to parents and new patients. The sad part is that the Providers and Nurses are probably nice and great at their job but the office front line needs to be retrained or replaced. 1 star because holiday answering service.

My son is neurodiverse and after years of struggling with finding a dentist that will really take the time with and understand him, we were recommended Dr. Dahlke (the head honcho) at VCU pediatric dentistry for the extensive work needed on his teeth. We had moved to the area, and he was 7 years old at the time. I canNOT say enough good things about Dr. Dahlkes qualities as a human AND a dentist. His care has made a world of difference in our ability to effectively get care for our child and to establish more comfort with the dentist so that he can continue to get treatment in later years with no fear. As weve gone (partly because of Dr. Ds leadership maybe?) weve noticed that the office staff just gets better and better. They are kind, helpful and attentive. Always smiling when we enter. The hygienists and students work just as hard as Dr. D and are just as understanding and helpful. The one time we had a problem, the minute we told Dr. Dahlke, he listened attentively and compassionately, believed us and swore to fix it.Ilean who schedules big procedures is also a gem. She knew me FROM MY VOICE ONLY when we met after talking back and forth on the phone for scheduling issues. And she still remembers me three years later! Seriously all of these humans do amazing work in a very human way. They reach these children as PEOPLE and talk to them as if their thoughts and feelings matter. They dont hold them down and force them into things which is partly how we got to the bad place we were with dentists before. Also, Dr. D KNOWS HIS STUFF. He will explain happily in detail how certain dental problems work, and he was the first doctor to not immediately blame sweets and soda (both of which my son doesnt really like... especially soda) for his tooth issues. He realized almost immediately that his reflux was probably the problem.I cant say enough about how grateful we are for this place. Parking is usually a pain in the rear but until they move into the Pediatric hospital (where it will be easy to just park there and walk in) we just park at the childrens hospital and walk down 11th to the dental building and have our parking validated. Its my favorite way to do it. Also, be aware that since Dr. Dahlke is the boss (in all ways) he sometimes gets called away on emergencies when hes supposed to see a patient. But he does his best to make it up to you.Love you all at VCU ped dental!

My 2.5 year old daughter loved her first visit to the dentist. The assistants and dentists were friendly, patient, and awesome. They helped calm my daughter down, let me sit and hold her, and didnt rush us or order us around. They made the trip a zero stress event.Amazing! Lots of distractions in the waiting room for kids, and children get to grab a toy on the way out.

I have nothing but good things to say about VCU dentistry. Root canals, fillings, all done here for a fraction of the cost of a regular dentist! Theyve always been cordial, friendly, and professional.

Pros: Dr Edmonds, friendly reception staff, knowledgeable doctors, cute and kid friendly waiting room, large exam rooms.Cons: No covers on any electrical sockets, extremely difficult to find, you have to pay for parking, long walk from parking deck if you have children you are carrying, too many people in exam room.I originally requested for my daughter to be seen by Dr. Brickhouse and made our appointment with her. Once in the back we were actually seen by Dr. Edmonds with no explanation as to why we were not seeing the doctor I requested. However; Dr. Edmonds was amazing. She was sweet, genuine, gentle, patient, and very knowledgeable. She had a great smile and personality and I got the feeling that she truly needs to be working with children. She was great. She spent a lot of time with us the huge exam room. She didnt make me feel rushed and allowed me to ask any and all questions I had. One thing that I did not like was that there was so many people in the exam area with me and my daughter. None of them were introduced to me so I had no idea who they were or why they were there. It just made me a little uncomfortable. I assumed they were students, but I wish we had been introduced. Another thing I did not like was that there were no outlet covers on the electrical sockets. Some of which were positioned in great places for kids to mess with. That needs to be fixed asap. My final complaint is the location. It was very hard to find with minimal signage. It was also a decent walk from the parking deck to the building, especially carrying my daughter. Overall I did enjoy the visit as my main concern is truly seeing a great provider and receiving great care. Which we received. Just be aware that parking is $2 to self park and $5 for valet.

Some young girl that is a doctor work on my child teeth. Part of the inside of his cheek is gone. Which dont make since if it dont heal back to normal and grow back someone will be paying for it!!!!!!!!!
