A marvelous and pretty place in Lucknow. Inside the concrete jungle tremendous collection of machinery and outside a pretty garden with a sandal tree.

Looks like an old monument with beautiful sculpture works...a pleasant greenic atmosphere inside.

He rich and multi hued culture of Uttar Pradesh was first beamed by Doordarshan on 27th November 1975 with the shehnai recitation of Ustad Bismillah Khan from an interim set up at 22-Ashok Marg Lucknow which is presently serving as Doordarshan Training Institute(DTI). From 15th August 1982 colour transmission service of DD National started echoing national motto of education, information and entertainment for Doordarshan in all its splendour. The 38 years of journey added another colour in rainbow with its introduction on 24x7 Sattellite channel w.e.f. 16 August 2013.In the year 1987 during Cricket World (Reliance Cup), OB Van equipped with 4 colour camera chain, recording equipments, portable microwave link and in the year of 1989 EFP VAN with three colour camera chain and recording setup for outdoor telecast entered in DD Lucknow’s foyer and strengthen our transmission.

It is a statutory autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament and comprises the Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio, which were earlier media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Parliament of India passed the Prasar Bharati Act to grant this autonomy in 1990, but it was not enacted until 15 September 1997.Dr A. Surya Prakash is the current chairperson of Prasar Bharati (he succeeded Dr Mrinal Pandey). Shashi Shekhar Vempati is the CEO of Prasar Bharati (he succeeded Jawhar Sircar who was the CEO until November 2016).The Prasar Bharati Act provides for the establishment of a Broadcasting Corporation, to be known as Prasar Bharati, and define its composition, functions, and powers. The Act grants autonomy to All India Radio and to Doordarshan, both of which were previously under government control. The Act received the assent of the President of India on 12 September 1990 after being unanimously passed by Parliament. It was finally implemented in November 1997. By the Prasar Bharati Act, all property, assets, debts, liabilities, payments of money due, as well as all suits and legal proceedings involving Akashvani (All India Radio) and Doordarshan were transferred to Prasar Bharati.

I have gone here last year for recording of moharram majlis with a group of shia muslims. The set was designed well and all of us were treated courteously by the staff. The recording was done professionally and multiple cameras were used for recording. The programme was telecast on DD National during moharram.DD Lucknow programmes are telecast from here. But not many of us watch the programmes as there isnt any publicity for them.

Situated near the heart of lucknow in Hazratganj.. Main center of UP.

In the heart of the city, DD Kendra of Lucknow is full of lovely old memories. But its lawns are messy, could be made more vibrant to uplift the face of the building which once used to be the icon of the city of Nawabs.
