This ground used to host Lucknows flagship annual fest Lucknow Mahotsav until the stampede caused by the arrival of Hritik Roshan in 2003. The Mahotsav then shifted to Begam Hazrat Mahal Park nearby.

Situated on the banks of river gomti lakshman mela ground was a wasteland which was very well converted to usable place to hoat lucknow mohastav and other events. This is where now metro planks ans rail goods are being made for luclnow metro and should be in a better state after it
