The planetarium is designed in such a way that it resembles the planet Saturn, which makes it different from all other planetariums in the country. Pros-Right on a main road, so you dont have to go looking for it.Nice staff.Great aesthetics. The saturn shaped building is interesting architecture. The fee for Indians is 25₹ per person. The skydome is cool and once the show starts, it almost feels like looking up at the night sky and seeing stars. The tech is nice.Cons-Only the first show of the day is in English. (If youre familiar with words like saurmandal, urjakumbh, akashganga- good for you. If not, get ready to learn new words!!)The place has seen better days. Its not that well maintained. The crowd is mostly composed of people with pre-teen kids. These kids dont like dark so much, so their parents keep flashing their mobile phones right onto the screen.Bonus- I am pretty sure the projector kept crashing inbetween the slides, but when I asked the personnel, they were clueless. I guess it has been going on for so long that thats the way they remember it now. The audio and visuals werent in proper sync, and animation was way off.The content presentation could be way better. They literally end the show on the big bang theory. Thats not the end, that is the beginning of any show!
The projector is broken. No 3D show. Nothing shown other than stars on a black sky. When complaint against that to the person on ticket counter, they said that they know it is not working but government is not allowing to shut it off, neither they can put a notice about it. It is just the waste of time and money to visit this place in this condition. Visited on 26/09/21
Dont go the projectors are a waste and Dont work properly. Administration should really work on its renovation. We sat for 40 minutes just looking at blank stars without any images and any kind of show
This is very ordinary place. The show is worst 😭. ruined my 2 hrs here. Projector is not in proper working condition. Audio sound is much boring. Couldnt had wasted my time before like this. visit at your own risk. Nothing special to watch in gallery which is on ground floor. The only special thing here is the building of this auditorium.
Nice place , but lot of improvement needed. Need renovation and updation. They are showing same show which they were playing so many years back also. Video and audio quality also become so old. If you are free and for children time pass you can go otherwise nothing entertaining there , neither much knowledgeable thing there
Are you curious to know about planetarium..👍 lets know about itThe word PLANETARIUM today usually refers to an optical or digital projection instrument that shows upon the inner surface of a hemispherical dome onto which scenes of stars, planets, sun, moon, and, in most cases, additional astronomical effects can be made to appear. The term also refers to the room or a building in which the projector is housed. In 1913, an astronomer, Max Wolf of Heidelberg Observatory, discussed with Oskar Von Miller, founder of the Deutsches Museum, the possibility of a display which would show the motions of the sun, moon and planets within a dome of spherical curvature. In this device, light comes through hole in a darkened dome under which the audience sits. Miller proposed this project to the Zeiss Works but preliminary investigations were interrupted by World War I. Following the war, Walther Bauersfeld, Zeiss Chief Engineer proposed to construct a hemispherical dome painted white interior, and to place an optical projector in the center to show the stars, sun, moon and planets together with their motions as observed from the earth. Early in 1920, Bauersfeld began to work out the design details and technical calculations. Finally, after three and a half years of design and construction, the first Planetarium Projector, Zeiss model was unveiled at the Carl Zeiss factory in Jena, Germany in August, 1923. Worst experience...the operating is so poor like we are in dark bunker. Very much ignored presentation from govt. As I have been in Patna planaletorium... compared to that I feel its worst

While on a family vacation in Lucknow it becomes must to visit the famous Indira Gandhi Planetarium, especially for your munchkins. This kid-friendly tourist attraction in Lucknow proffers some useful knowledge about a different aspect of astronomy through the exhibition, quit and various interesting shows. Located on the banks of Gomti River, the planetarium has a Saturn shape building that is an architectural pleasure in itself. The foundation of this one of the most-visited places in Lucknow was laid in the year 1988. Digital sound, lift ramp and projecting system makes Indira Gandhi Planetarium an altogether a different tourist site in Lucknow. Keeping the comfort of tourists into mind,Thanks..🙏🙏🌺
The show was fineIt should be updatedOne more thing i want to addPolice there dont let people go inside the picture gallery untill the show going to startIn my case they let me enter at 3:50 while my show timing was 4:00As i am a student In ten minutes how i can scan the whole picture gallery and understand the nuances of the astronomyHope administration will take cognizance of it.
The visit is limited to the Space show only, which is actually very enlightening and good. The institution is poorly maintained and very less time is allowed to observe the exhibits that are displayed in the outer waiting room. The behavior of the accessory staff is very poor and totally non co operative.
Good for:1. NothingWhy its not worth your time and money:1. Unfriendly staff.2. Obscure rules; example - No water bottles allowed, Cannot re-enter display zone after show, etc etc.3. Atrocious functional layout.4. Worst display and internal lightening.5. Models on display are highly inaccurate and shabby.6. Poor maintenance.7. Projector system is outdated. Planetariums the world over have moved to digital displays but this one seems to be stuck in a time warp.8. Audio is garbled and is barely legible.9. Poor scripting of show. The audience was constantly fidgeting and least interested in the haphazardly narrated program.10. Seating layout is exceedingly bad and if youre in the upper left of the perimeter, either strain your neck or better forget it.11. Overall... This would be the worst planetarium in the country by far based on the development extent and money spent in the name of education.

Nice place
Good experience
Indra Gandhi Planetarium was begun for public on May 2003. It is unique Saturn shape with five rings. It is especially designed to give an idea of creater formation of celestial bodies. This place is good for kids who want to study plants and stars. Any body can visit the Indra Gandhi Planetarium..
Planetarium looks beautiful with good architecture!!
Awesome place to visit your time with your family and children. It will be educational visit for you. And you will not be disappoint after a visit of this place. Staff was not supportive. And i liked the rest. Learn and fun all together
Nice place... But not describe all planets and galaxy
Very good and highly underrated place... a nice place to learn new cool facts about our own solar system....... The movie is also very good.... If you want your child to fall in love with science and astronomy and astrophysics then this place is a must bring spot for you
Very bad place. Main high tech revolving Projector was not working. Show was completed with a small slide projector only. No effect of round dome. Worst ever seen. Waste of time and money.Pls enquire about projector before going.
A very good place for weekend trips with kids, family and friends. Basically you need only 2-2.5 hours to see it.There is a show in the auditorium whose timings are:1. 11am2. 1pm3. 2:30 pmMONDAY ITS CLOSED.The ticket prices are 25per head for adults above 3 years of age. There are two floors where there are some models of different things related to astronomy like the space suit, space shuttle and rockets.
This is the only planetarium in Lucknow. Here you may enhance your knowledge about stars , planets and various other things. Movies related to the space missions are shown here. Very good place for kids. On special days like lunar or solar eclipse special arrangements are also done by the staff to get a detailed view of the sun and moon during these events.
Visited Sep2018- This was setup in 1980s and seems to have stood still since then. Although the show is informative, but you dont feel the pulse of science and fascination of astronomy here. The crowd also lets u down, crowded and dusty noisy street. No wonder it has few visitors now. Better visit the regional science centre in aliganj… nicely maintained
Not worth to go and spend your time and money, below average place. Video quality is also poor. At first you will feel like you have some eye problem. Chairs make too much noise. Instead go to any park.
Its not that good. The print is bad. Its just good for kids. No Discipline.
Its very knowledgeable visit and tickets are not costly. Price of the ticket and snacks in the cafeteria are affordable. Taking photographs is not allowed inside the show premises. Belongings are normally asked to be kept at the entrance point. Eatables too are allowed only in cafeteria. Dustbins inside the premises are in the form of Adorable dolfins and other cartoons..Planetorium from inside is surrounded with greenery, shrubs and flowers. The place is clean and properly maintained. Generally people visit with their children and and family. Single show has multiple timing in a day. The place is safe and is under security of state police. This is located opposite to the SP office of Lucknow. It is easily visible in the traffic on road trip. There are NO ATMs and public toilets nearby.
Show did not start at scheduled time.. very laid back approach of staff.. the outer design is fabulous and inspired by plante Saturn.. But the interior appeared haphazard.. the inside of the planetarium is very old fashioned..The show was very rudimentary.. the graphics were crude.. the show ended abruptly..Overall the projector was less than impressive.. urgent need of upgradation required.. left feeling sorry for the state of affairs of a so called centre to inspire young minds..
Seating arrangement not so good. Like a movie hall. Audio respected video not so good.
If you want to explore the stars and space you should definitely go and visit there. The projection show is the main attraction on the top floor. The building looks like Saturn.
This place is awesomeThere is lot of things to see and 3D animation about universe and its heaven body and planets details .....earth to be related.
Some basic informative stuff in the show. Low video quality in the show but a good gallery with working models of the mars rover, gslv, etc.

Great experience , specially its good for the school students . Give you plenty of knowledge.
Show is good but the canteen needs to be work on. No maintenance. No Ac. Visit during evening is better
Nice place, I went in there about 10 years back and it was worth an experience at that time, the show was quite remarkable.
If u dont know anything about Astronomy, dont go coz u wont ever feel like knowing anything more about the beauty of universe in the future. If u know things about Astronomy, still dont go coz it would be a complete waste of time...watch interstellar once more instead..😂😂
Its just ok ...nm so interesting ..just usual facts about earth that one must have studied in class 5
New modifications should be done in the show.but good place for students
Good place.show is awesome
Need improvement.Speakers and projectors were not functioning properly 😄🙄😥😥
Nice place for visiting vigyan bhawan
It will bore u if u are not interested in stars and their myths. All u see IMAGES of stars and some satellites only .Go if u like darkness (?).But outside of planeterium u enjoy.
Projector was not working.... All i could see was stars and few other images. Total waste of time for everyone.
Very bad,old still projector, show like old bajawala only project still picture with shammi narang voice, still picture also old material without clearety.Totally moneywestage, dont go,better to watch on discovery channel.Bakar hai bhai , really .Batter to shut and upgrade 😅😬😬😬
Great Architecture.Built on the theme of Saturn .Nice models if various space missisions are kept which are controlled by buttons.Nice show but not well maintained.
