Visited Battersea Power Station area as the Northern Line tube now runs there. The area is similar to Coal Drops Yard in Kings Cross however not as large as it is still undergoing development. The Battersea Street Party was taking place when I visited so the area was very lively with musicians, buskers, Hip Hop Dancers, Clowns and other street artists. There are a number of pop up businesses which provide catering and drinks.Seating is provided too. There are also a number of well known eateries, bars as well as a Cinema. The main power station is still undergoing development so access is not possible. The whole area is surrounded by new glass and steel apartments.A place to visit for half a day out now but it may prove more interesting when the old power station is developed and opened.

Battersea Power Station on the day that its new Transport for London Underground Tube station opened. The first major expansion of the London Underground this century. This is one of the first of two new Northern Line Undergound stations to be opened for 80 years.

The old thermal power station, famous for its beautiful and iconic four chimneys. It is also known as the cover of Pink Floyds album, Animals. It is now closed and is being redeveloped. The area is lined with trendy cafes. At night, the four chimneys are beautifully lit up and worth a visit.

Vanmoof Bikes showroom at Battersea Power Station would get 6 stars from me if it were possible. When I visited this with a friend this afternoon, the attentive and helpful staff immediately arranged a test ride on one of their most amazing bikes. I walked in out of simple curiosity but left as a very serious prospective customer. I have never ridden such a smooth, agile and responsive machine .

The building comprises of two power stations, built between 1929 and 1941 when construction was paused due to the second world war and was eventually completed in 1955, also known to Pink Floyd fans as the 1977 album cover ANIMALS.Artist Aubrey Powell, founder of the group Hipgnosis came up with the idea of having a 40 foot inflatable pig floating above the power station, during the photo shoot the pig named Algie broke free and floated in the flight path of planes landing at Heathrow, as a result of this Powell was arrested, Algie eventually fell to the ground somewhere in Kent

Interesting history - glad we kept this and what is now Tate Modern - better keep these than knock them down. BPS particularly impressive - huge scale - and an increasing number of shops, restaurants etc... Construction seems to be taking forever.

You need to be standing at the base of this building looking up at the turrets to really appreciate just how MASSIVE this building is! I cant wait for it to be completed! The whole surrounding development is amazing and the fact that the four original turrets were taken down and then rebuilt is astounding!

The iconic Grade II* listed building and surrounding area is being brought back to life as one of the most exciting and innovative mixed-use neighbourhoods in the world – a place for locals, tourists and residents to enjoy a unique blend of restaurants, shops, parks and cultural spaces.A legendary landmark that’s a symbol of hope and positivity. Uniting people from far away and just around the corner to create a new community that’s already thriving. This is a place to work, live, shop, eat and enjoy. Here life doesn’t feel ordinary, it feels extraordinary.

Battersea Power Station started production in 1933 and went on producing until, in 1975, Station A was shut down and later, in 1983, Station B was terminated. After prolonged debates as to whether or not to pull down the Battersea Towers that notion foundered, due in no small part to the site’s Grade II listed status.Eventually an acceptable restoration plan was agreed that commenced in 2013 and continues on, with the redevelopment as a whole not scheduled to complete until circa 2025.

One of the best known buildings in London, the restoration and refurbishment goes on. Im glad I walked past to see those four iconic chimneys and lime wash towers because the area has a market at the weekend and a pretty cool place to hang out after a long walk around Battersea Park. Lots of market stalls for arts and crafts, food, but most importantly for the views of the power station

A truly historic site - yes. Truly historic. But probably the least efficient repurposing of a derelict piece of real estate in memory. Allowing it to sit derelict for over thirty years only to have this be ‘the solution’ boggles the mind.

Important and historic site in London in front of the Thamess River and Battersea Park. Now its a bigger and modern area of residences and restaurants. Here you have a new station of River bus. They organize festival and markets on weekends.

D
Review №28

The old building off the Pink Floyd album is now pretty well hidden underneath a never-ending building site. Other than that its one of the most boring places in London. Some soulless restaurants and bars, some shops that dont really sell anything interesting, some half-hearted events a few times a year that arent worth visiting. On the plus side, the thames clipper stop is quite handy.

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station, located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Nine Elms, Battersea, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It was built by the London Power Company (LPC) to the design of Leonard Pearce, Engineer in Chief to the LPC, and CS Allott & Son Engineers. The architects were J Theo Halliday and Giles Gilbert Scott. The station is one of the worlds largest brick buildings and notable for its original, Art Deco interior fittings and decor.

In Ambrose House in Battersea Power station the residents are very rude. I engage in a lot of charity work and I came to visit a very kind friend who often helps me in charity. As I was walking into the complex I simply held the front door of the building as it was windy that day. A very rude I think Nordic origin lady shouted at me and said I was breaking the glass door. At that moment i realised that maybe I am Superman and i have immense strength not known to man. I am shocked at the arrogance and entitlement of the residence. If they do not belive in the great architecture of the place then why do they live there? They have no faith in their own home/place of residence. Shocking how entitlement makes people into monsters.

The Battersea Power Station is a historic place to visit as it used to send electricity to most, if not all, of London (including Buckingham Palace). It was made more famous for being used as the cover art for Pink Floyds Animals. I was a little standoffish regarding the gentrification of the area, but it still is a very nice place to visit. A must-see!🐖🐕🐑
