The food was good, but for a meal costing just over £200 (non vegetarian tasting menu plus 2 drinks) for 2 people, we werent blown away. For a Michelin star restaurant I was hoping for a bit more in terms of wow factor in taste etc, staff were very friendly and attentive and we were most definitely full by the end.

Good restaurant that needs a few tweaks to be exceptional. In summary, amazing starters and wine but very bland main dish. Timing is all wrong and needs fixing. Staff are very friendly but disorganised. Do inform the diners about complementary dishes at the start.Long review because I genuinely want them to do well. Hopefully this will be seen as constructive.First the positives, staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Ambiance & decor was pleasant. Wine list is priced very reasonably for quality. The Fisherman’s catch starter was simply fantastic! The seafood was very fresh. Each piece cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. The complementary mini popadoms were freshly made and the chutneys and accompanying sauces were just divine. The complementary mini rassam soup palate cleanser was delicious. Here are the negatives. The signature Mains dish - Braised lamb shank was very disappointing. The meat was tough and the sauce and flavour were very bland. Simply not a good dish - let alone Michelin star quality. The tomato rice was average as was the Malabar paratha.I didn’t order the Briyani as I was didn’t have any accompanying dhal which is very strange as this is standard in every single Indian restaurant. The signature Qojito (with chilli infused vodka) tasted very average. The crushed ice was not the right size. The timing of dishes was very poor. It took forever for my cocktail to arrive. The starters arrived before the popadoms. The rassam soup arrived at the same time as the main. The whole paying process was very strange. No complimentary sweet - even something small would have been nice.I informed during the booking that it was my birthday. They totally forgot. I ordered my taxi and then they rushed over saying they have a cake for me. But it was too late. A real shame.

One of the highlights of our London trip to celebrate our anniversary, I have been to this superb restaurant on numerous occasions and it always delivers above and beyond, super-slick service complimented by the probably the best Indian fair I have eaten both here and on my numerous visits to India. The front of house staff glide between tables, delivering with pride the fabulously presented food from the kitchen, and you can tell the chefs have a dedication and pride in preparing the wonderful array of dishes, as a hospitality professional for over 40 years I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant master of culinary “Excellence”

Very disappointed with service and food. The room was really cold, to the point where I kept my jacket on during the meal.I told the waiter that I am intolerant to raw onion and they still served me sliced raw onion on one dish, which I didnt realise until I had a big mouthful of them. The food was not anything special in flavour or presentation otherwise. At the end of the meal we were informed that the coffee machine was broken and they could only offer instant coffee! Finally the ladies toilet was not clean. We got a 10% bill discount for the onion incident but I was hugely disappointed with this experience. Ive had better meals in my local Indian for quarter the price. I would never go back here again.

I got the 3 course weekday lunch deal for £31 and I was very disappointed in the quality of the starter (very tasteless salad with no twist for what’s claimed to be a Michelin * restaurant in their website) and the main (very average fish curry). The desert was the only good dish but the experience had already been ruined by the 2 prior dishes and the very unprofessional (almost rude) service by staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place because the experience provided isn’t worth the money.

I know we visited Quilon when restaurants were only starting to re-open after lock-down, however, one could be forgiven for thinking that a Michelin Star restaurant in London, would grab the extra down-time as an opportunity to plan a grand opening with perhaps a little more refinement to their food and the ambience of the restaurant.Based on the experience during our visit for my wifes birthday, I can say without hesitation that this is by no means a Michelin star!Although the food had some flavour, it became apparent when our food was served that the dishes were incoherent with their respective descriptions on the menu, with the lobster probably being the most shockingly underwhelming! The cutlery and plates were poorly presented with smudged fingerprints all over the rims. Having eaten at several michelins, I was shocked by the such poor presentation of every plate of food. Our lobster, which was one of the most expensive items on the menu looked like over heated regurgitated mac n cheese!Although directly next to the Taj St James Apartments We were the only guests in the restaurant bar another table, who we could hear complaining about their food and expressing how deeply dissatisfied they were.To top off the evening, we found a hair in our paratha! The service was OK, and they did take off the lobster from our bill, however this restaurant fronting itself as a Michelin Star is absolutely deplorable and is indeed a very poor example of the standards that Michelin represents. Our experience was only made memorable by our decision to take a trip to The Connaught and order a club sandwich in order to avoid going to bed hungry!

We started with a traditional Indian cocktail, spicy and sweet. Food was presented beautifully, spice level was adjusted as requested and dishes were all outstanding. The service was spot on and you could tell the chef cared about what was cooked, served and presented to his guests. The cauliflower appetizer was fried perfectly without being oily. The fishermans platter was a lovely assortment of spiced shrimp, halibut, fish cake, and scallop. The Lamb Bryianni was tasty and the salt and pepper prawn was massive and cooked to perfection. We finished with the pistachio cake which was light, flavorful and a nice finish to the meal. Manager and staff were outstanding!

It wasnt my fav Michelin star restaurant. The food was good we liked it, but really not sure it was exceptional for the price. Just because it was a Taj maybe it was over priced. The staff had two extremes either they forgot our drinks or they did not make the best recommendations, they just tried to sell you what they thought was best. Even our reservation for 5 people seemed like it was an after thought. We told them it was a bday while booking though the Open table app, but it didnt seem like that was registered until we told them again about the bday.I had always wanted to go here so we did, but wont be coming back or recommending it to anyone.A ton of other nicer Indian places for far better food and service. The cocktails were really good!

Posh Indian restaurant with Michelin one star. Ordered seafood tasting menu - which was 95 GBP per person. You get 5-6 dishes all contain seafood. They are delicately made and indeed quite tasty. The service is though a bit rushed... for example, we were there for a birthday and had told them in advance, we got a birthday desert but literally the lady just came out and put on the table without saying anything. We also ordered a few wine to go with the dish and 2nd wine was out but no dish and no one came to explain what the wine was.... So it didn’t make us feel special. I think it’s a good restaurant, but lack the special feeling you expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. Not sure if we will be back.

Let’s start with menu, we were gently pushed towards tester selection menu. Big mistake! We selected one non veg and other veg. (Assume prepared since morning)Starter soup was ok. all who selected tester menu got same soup that, even though menu showed few dishes but not advised. (Soup was veg).Pan seared scallop & sea turbot lightly favoured roasted coconut and turmeric sauce, poor averageNext came lamb with small wrappers and fine cuts of spring onion and cucumber and plum source.Lamb meat was as if direct from subway, that tells me about quality. No test or freshness.Next came main meal, Chicken biryani (Dry chicken, average Indian food is better), lamp in hot source (Lamb was salty and no moistness), Tarka Dal (Salty) Bihari roti (like any average Indian food outlets)Afters was nice, not over sweet etc.Veg was about average but dal salty chanteys very salty.Drinks, cocktails ok tried few? Then came to know that food was halal, next table coupe asked, if the food is halal, waiter proudly said yes, all food is halal, not sure why, when more than 90% people seemed non halal????Why would a classy restaurant promote halal? May be, that explains why the meat was poor quality.Nowhere in the menu it states food is halal, if they had I would have gone for sea food only.Next time will try la a cart, Staff were incredibly friendly and fantastic service. There far much better restaurants on similar scale of food and price.Food was poor, as for Michelin star???? I see nice reviews by people not sure they have any test, just blinded by classiness!?

A wonderful Indian food experience! I went here with my misses for our 1yr anniversary and wow did they pull out all the stops for us! A continuous supply of smiles from all staff, always asking us if everything was ok and they would always be ready to fill your glasses with water. Food here is good slightly debatable whether its worth its Mitchellin star, but this is the only star restaurant Ive been too. The biryani was quite similar to my mums which is amazing! The roast chicken was nice and so was the lemon grass rice, it is a must! The pistachio ice cream is a godsend! Dont leave without ordering it! They also gave us a little cake as it was our anniversary fee of charge! Which is very nice of them. Overall experience was wonderful and not as expensive as I thought itll be, was around £60 for the two of us!

Worthy of a 2 star review, not a 1 Michelin star!We had booked this restaurant for a special occasion, however it failed to deliver. From waiting over 30minutes to order a drink to tasteless food.I can honestly say there was one great waiter and the rest were only available to help with food to the table or to ask if everything was ok once the food had arrived.Dishes tasted:Starter:Chicken Cafreal - Had great flavour, but lacked spice.Southern S-a-a-t - A great twist on an Indian classic especially the fried idli bits.Crispy Okra - There was no taste to the batter, making these just deep fried in flour and pointless.Main dishes:Chicken pepper masala - big chicken pieces in a very peppery sauce. Average.Sides / accompaniments:Malabar Paratha - a great accompanimentTawa Paratha - a great accompaniment. A little on the dry side.Dessert:Pistachio cake - The standout dish of the evening. Cake was full of flavour, the ice cream was great and worked well with the cake.Masala Tea - rich with cardamom and a perfect pairing to the pistachio cake.Mark out of 10 for:Service: 5Atmosphere: 7Food flavour: 4Price: 3Overall not worthy of the price. There are plenty more Indian restaurants that provide flavourful dishes. It does seem like they hadn’t best planned for post COVID dining in. Seating people in the same area. I had a very enjoyable meal here, but I do not feel this lived up to the Mechlin standard (compare to other experiences I had).We tried the Taste of London 5 course meal with matching beer. The beers could be brought from the supermarket and didnt come in draughts, and lovely as they are, Im not sure how much thought or research goes into the matching. The black cod and dessert were my favourite. Other dishes are mediocre, which i rarely felt in top restaurants.Service was also good, but again, it wasnt outstanding. We visited on a Tuesday evening for a birthday dinner. Im sad to say that the entire experience was deeply disappointing. First, before deciding to book the restaurant I sent an email to ask for additional information which was ignored by staff. Leaving that aside, I still decided to go ahead and book the place as described as one of the best Indian restaurant in London and a Michelin star restaurant. There is absolutely nothing to justify this. While ambience is nice, the vibes of the place are fairly unprofessional (with staff dropping things on the floor, etc). Food was disappointing too: plates arrived dirty (Im sorry to point out these details but thats not something I expect when going to a restaurant, especially a Michelin star rated place!), portions were small and in all honesty the beer pairing menu a joke (with one paired bottle shared across the whole table - I was expecting one paired beer per person at least). It was nice to receive a birthday dessert, so I appreciate that. I overall dont think that paying 95£ per person was justified considering the service and food. Sorry to be direct but we dont recommend and wont be visiting again Quilon. You can find much better Indian restaurants in London (see my other Google local reviews!), so dont be fooled like myself!

Quilon, named after an old seaport and city near Kerala, offers south west coastal Indian cuisine and is one of the few Michelin star restaurants in London. Given the coastal nature of the ingredients, seafood is central to the menu. However, with a good variety of meat and vegetarian options, the menu is varied and accommodates for all dietary requirements, Dishes are designed to be shared and the chef is happy to suggest a tasting menu tailored to your requirements.Quilon is one of the few lucky Michelin star restaurants in London, awarded its first star in 2008. Being the sister restaurant to the infamous Bombay Brassiere , it is no surprise that a michelin star was on the cards. The interior is smart with a small bits of colour dotted around in the form of murials. With lovely semi circle booths it was a fairly relaxed atmosphere. Slightly too dusky for my liking but I visited at lunch so can see that ambiance working more at dinner. With an extensive wine and cocktail menu, you will find (or be recommended) drinks to accompany your meal. To start with we had a Botanical Garden Cocktail: Gin, Grapefruit, sweet basil, pink pepper corns, cucumber, coriander. This was light and refreshing and really nicely presented with a grapefruit segment in the drink. I was also very excited by the Frozen Mango Margarita: Jose Cuervo tradition, Cointreau and mango. Very strong and punchy but I do love a frozen cocktail.I can’t pretend I am used to dining in Michelin star restaurants in London so didn’t know what to expect. Having visited Goa, I knew the food would be less spicy and lighter than other areas in India. We started off with a Mini masala dosa: rice and lentil pancake filled with tempered potatoes and vegetables, served with samblar. I do love a dosa and this certainly did not disappoint with a good amount of filling and a touch of spice. We also had the Cauliflower chilli fry (gobi kempu bezule) crispy fried cauliflower tossed with yogurt, green chilli and curry leaves. There was a good crunchy consistency but felt it could do with a little more spicy. The Crab cakes claw meat with curry leaves, ginger, green chillies and cooked on a skillet were a highlight and the mustard dressing accompaniment was amazing. As suggested, we had a number of main dishes to share. The Quilon fish curry cubes of halibut simmered in coconut, chilli, and raw mango sauce was stunning. The fish was so fresh and just melted in your mouth. The sauce was creamy but not too heavy – a fantastic dish. The Venison chilli fry: strips of venison fillet tossed with onion, chilli and curry leaves was another firm favourite. Good level of spice with tender meat. Unfortunately the the Pan-fried English Duck breast kasundi coconut cream sauce was a little on the dry side for me.We loved the sides of Lemon rice basmati rice and Malaar Paratha. The latter was a soft refined flour dough beaten to thin sheet and folded to form layered bread, cooked on a skillet with pure ghee It was so light and tasty and so much better than a usual naan bread! To finish off our meal we just about had enough room for the Fresh mango (seasonal) with rose ice cream. It was so juicy and fresh and the perfect amount to not leave us absolutely stuffed. With lovely staff and an inventive menu, Quilion is definitely a michelin star restaurant in London to check out. All the better if you can make it a little cheaper with a set lunch menu. However, if you want to float the boat out then opt for one of their tasting menus (meat, veggie or fish) which can be paired with beer or wine! There is a no tipping policy which I found slightly odd but had to respect it. On the plus side at least there is no onus to add 12.5% to the bill!

We really challenged the waiters. I think we were the worst costumers for them. It was our first time with Indian food so we constantly asked the waiter for help and we was very confused about what to eat. In the end, we left a lot of food in the plates, as it was too spicy. It was a pity as the quality was very high, as well as the colours and the smell. It was my dad’s birthday so I asked a waiter to bring a cake with a present I prepared for him. They kindly brought a slice of cake with a beautiful candle, and we ungratefully asked for more slices, one for each one of us. They brought more without a sign of discontent. The discipline and behaviour of the waiters was 10/10, one of the best I have ever seen. The prices were low compared to the location (Central London) and the food quality.

To be honest, Im not the biggest fan of Indian food... I try to avoid it as much as I can... But this was great 👍 loved the fish curry, prawns and cauliflower in staters, also the deserts were very tender and not too sweet. Everything was tasty, even the things that were too spicy for me. The only thing that was frustrating (even though I understand its not exactly a place to come with a baby, but that was unavoidable) they venue is not baby friendly. There is no nappy changing facility, youd have to go to the actual hotel part across the street. Ladies room is not suitable for that either... And the staff was obviously not too keen on assisting, though we were a big group with two small babies and one toddler... But thats just a specific aspect that only those with children would pay attention to. Otherwise a great celebration of Indian cuisine!

Excellent southwestern Indian restaurant where we sampled a few delicious dishes served with grace by pleasant waiters. The pistachio chicken was particularly tasty but all the dishes were rich and nuanced. Good atmosphere, prices in line with whats expected with this level of quality.

We indulged on the chefs taster menu. Which gives us the chance to sample nearly all of the items the main menu had to offer. Which was astounding. The service was very good. The decor, furnishings and the subtle lighting, created a nice and very pleasant atmosphere to dine in. I thoroughly recommend this place and would return.

Can only say I left the restaurant when I reviewed the alcohol prices and saw THE cheapest beer on the menu was £11 and it went up to £45. No wonder they dont publish the prices of the alcohol on the website.
