The Gomukh temple is situated on the rim of the Lonar Crater Lake. In the one the Kunda (tank) in the temple, there is an eternal water stream. The water stream is called as ‘Dhar’ in Marathi hence the temple is also named as ‘Dhar Temple’ and the Kunda in which the stream is channelized is called as ‘Dhar Kunda’ which is assumed by devotees to be holy.

Its natural source of water, no one can find out from where water is in flow. No need of guide, this is first point in jungal treak of Lonar abhayaarany. All construction is in stone without cement. Steps are stiff, have hard stick in hand for supporting while climbing up in return way. Enjoy sunshine and sunset.... No smoke, no alcohol, no out side food. Time open is sunshine to sunset.. It is top most point from where you can see lonar lake and last temple point of jungle track...... The gomukh is visible and water flowing to down end of jungle.... Have good photo for FB, insta. Mobile range is available....

When one visits Lonar, the realization dawns that this place must have been a well-known religious place too. There are many many temples here. Gomukh Temple (Dhara Temple) is one of the largest and perhaps the best temple in Lonar. There is a spring (Gomukh) which waters a small pond which is used by the devotees to clean themselves before entering the temple. The pond drains by a specially built aqueduct to the Lonar Lake. The Temple also offers stunning views of the Lonar Lake. This is a must visit site at Lonar

Popular historical, religious, geographical monument known as Viraj Teerth/ Dhar temple/ Vishnu temple/ Gomukh temple. A must visit maintained by Archiological Survey of India (ASI). From this place a birds eye view of World famous Lonar crater, Kamalja Maata temple and other temples is possible. In ancient Indian literature, Aine-E-Akbari (Samrat Akbar), the place is mentioned.

This temple is near Lonar lake . Many local people have various stories of these place. There are stories from the period of Vedas and puranas. Atmosphere there is quite hot. You need to carry water bottle with you . There are local guides services to get you indepth information about the place. Since this place is near Shegaon. Kachories are quite famous here. You need to spend atleast 4 hours to look around the premises . There is lord Hanuman temple near by. What makes it unique is the idol is shown in sleeping position. It is advisable to hire a car and roam around.

The Flow of water is from the ancient times, when the lonar crater got formed. And the source of water is still unknown, its one of the beautiful architecture. It has 3 sides steps to reach to the water. And a changing room also built ancient times. It has steps towards sita nanhi. And one of the ancient temple down. And there is a way towards the lake. Schools students also come for exploring here for the school trips. In covid times. They are not allowed to have a bath under the water. Earlier they allow to bath. Its a must visit for everyone!!!

Gomukh temple is built in the Hemadpanti style and shows Islamic influences in the parts built or restored in later eras. The temple is built around one of the natural springs that feed the Lonar lake and offer wonderful views of the lake spread out below. Two tanks separated by a narrow walkway and surrounded by vaulted niches are frequented by pilgrims who come to bathe in the spring. The water cascades into the tank through a stone Gomukh (literally Cows mouth) which is actually a spout that channels the groundwater from the mountainside that the temple is built into.

It will be advisable for any tourist visiting Lonar crator should take a bath in this temple. The Lonar crator is having salty water and looks like a big pond. Do not try to go nearer to the lake as you may stuck in DalDal.Best time to visit this place in rainy when everything will be green.
