Simply amazing. Situated in a lovely detached house in a quite neighborhood of Laval, Le Mitoyen serves unpretentious French classics with fresh and local ingredients. Every dish we ordered was excellent, but the foie gras, scallops and lambs were highlights of the nights. Service was very warm and attentive. Do allow time to dine here since everything was cooked fresh and it can get very busy.

The quality of cuisine is really worth the hype and the price. Cohesive, well executed menu progression with great wine pairing options. We had the scallops special appetizer, shrimp salad, chilled tomato soup, mushroom (second course, can’t remember the other dish elements, but it was amazing) veal shank, and beef cheek. Each dish was so delicious, visually and tastefully memorable! Truly an impressive culinary experience. Nice romantic ambiance, small and cozy space that feels fancy yet homey. The service is easily of equal caliber, if not higher. Thanks Norman for taking great care of us!

We had a small family reunion at this restaurant in July.It was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time.I have visited this restaurant many times over the years/its country charm is unbeatable, the service has varied a bit over the years, but the staff that looked after us on our last visit was simply first class, and the food was excellent. This gem of Laval offer a great dining experience in a cosy warm environment with a good food menu! Wine selection is perfect and the staff really know how to make you feel at home! We were a group of 8 that all opted for the 5 service degustation menu with wine pairing except one of the guests. The fact that if was a Tuesday likely contributed to the extra personalized service.The dishes rolled out with perfect interval. Very flavourful and nice assortment of local foods.Quaint terrace in front of the restaurant looking onto the square which had a public piano playing. Provided an extra unexpected ambience to the whole dining experience.

Tasters menu and paired wines was divine! Cant wait to go again.

Very good restaurant

Yesterday was the first time we came to that fine restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last time. We had great time with the attentive service, with the fine dishes and wine and with the honest charge. We will absolutely visit there soon.

This place is first-rate and spacious, the food was enchanting and the rates were very reasonable. fast, effective service and very personal staff. I recommend this place.

Exquisite French cuisine and awesome staff

We traveled a long way to get to the restaurant. The service was very nice and the fireplaces created a nice ambiance. However, the food was not to our liking. Dinner for two with a couple of glasses of wine came to about $160. I would say that is pricey for what we got!!

The restaurant is in a house and the house is lovely inside out. The atmosphere is cosy, classy and romantic. The food is good especially the lamb. The wines were great. The service was excellent and everything was explained to us.

Good food, nice ambiance, but... the servers were really bad. Didnt know which plate belonged to who and even mistaken my (very masculine) boyfriend for a woman... Ouch.

Food was good but service was extremely slow and it was very expensive

We’ve gone to le mitoyen several times but, this time was the best. Our server Francois was welcoming and knowledgeable to such a high degree as to match the exceptional quality of our meal. I tend to get a little antsy after a while but 2 1/2 hrs went by like nothing. Looking forward to our next trip.

First time here, service were really good, explain menu really well, also consistent checking on us.We order 7 course menu with steake, red tuna tartare, lamb, cream brulee (earl gray).Note: I usually like lamb but it was little too strong for me.

Have been a client of this restaurant for over 10 years but lately my experience has not been very good and last night was the worst. I will never go back and will not recommend this restaurant anymore.Service is not good. They dont even have a drinks menu so you order without even knowing the price. The waiter comes to tell you about the add-ons to the menu with no mention of price. (and this restaurant can be very pricey!).The quality of the food has been going steadily down as well but the price has been going up. My soup was so extremely salty that I had to return it. Instead they gave me some sort of salad of old spinach with a drizzle of dressing (awful!). No apology whatsoever. On the contrary they said the chef says its OK. My dessert (panna cotta) was very sour and watery. It was terrible.Lastly, the bill came and there were two mistakes. My wine was wrongly priced and my husband ordered a decaf coffee which was charged extra. ($3.50) Coffee is usually included in the Table dHote. The waiter said regular coffee is included but not decaf!!! (Never heard of this before)Bad experience. Not worth the money.

Excellent fine cuisine. The very intimate atmosphere. Ideal for a romantic dinner. The waiters know their dishes and their wines well. They know how to advise you. However, the bill will be high. That is why I only go there once a year with my spouse.

We went to eat on a Friday night autumn. What a beautiful experience! Its so charming! There was a fireplace fire in the fireplace, a perfect ambient music and muffled light. The food was delicious and the service is just as nice! I can not wait to return ... With the snow this winter, it will be even more magical!

What an improvement! This restaurant Chef Richard Bastien is very much in line with the Leméac. The Mitoyen has always had a nice if not picturesque scenery, the food has always been good but the speed of service left something to be desired. After taking leave of this establishment my wife and I went back and we were completely seduced. First, the service was more than perfect, from reception to table service. We arrived at 19H15 and came out at 21h quite delighted. All the dishes were excellent, neat and tasty. The comments from our table neighbors, 2 other couples tables, were just as complimentary. The quality ratio is also excellent. We will return there; this restaurant is worth the detour.

If you have food allergies or intolerances, I recommend this restaurant.The problem of this restaurant is communication. Instead of telling me that the main accompaniment, the one that ties the flavors together contained dairy products, the chef simply decided not to put it on the plate. Having known, I would have taken something else on the menu. As a result, I received a plate containing cubes of bluefin tuna and green peas. Its the mix of flavors and the agreement between them that makes you want to pay $ 40 for a dish.When I notified the waitress of my dissatisfaction, she came back and told me that the chef was uncompromising and that he did not intend to accommodate me in any way.
