Ordered ribs with fries. The fries werent even cooked and the ribs were black and charred. The only positive was the waiter. Dont waste your money or time.
The Cobb salad rocks and the hostesses and waitresses fo a great job. Think Ill go get another Cobb salad now:) love the room with the fireplace. And great place to grub and watch sports if you like that. Fair prices.
Food and atmosphere excellent. Great bartender.
We went for lunch yesterday. We both had a delicious wrap, mine Turkey and my hubby, chicken. Both were very good and filling. Will definitely visit again,!
They had a separate room for our party which was nice. The server was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was super slow. Our large party had some people getting food right away and others were forgotten. They are understaffed and we understand that, but the people who didnt get their food had things like salads. I think we will wait until they have been up and running a little longer before we come back.
Quiet Monday night and I had the entire place to myself. Kitchen stays open late (11-1130pm) and the food is actually quite good. It seems to have a good bar atmosphere and is separated from the dining area. Good service and highly recommend David the bartender. Great job and will come back when I visit Lansing again.
Great food, terrible at delivery services. Go in person; if you order from an app, 50% chance they’ll either cancel your entire order after making you wait for 40 minutes, or mispackage your order so it splats on the concrete.
Pricey, but burgers are delicious.
It was a bad day for champps, we were 1 of 3 tables. Both other tables already had there food. The one waitress was also acting as a host [I think training a new person as host], she was very kind. However the food...2 of the three dishes ordered were either undercooked, missing ingredients or just bad. This is the first time I have been overall disappointed with the restuarant.
DON’T ORDER TO GO FOOD!! After timing it perfectly, was given excuse that there is a problem with their system and they don’t have the order even after i got confirmation and confirmation text. Had to re-order the entire meal, so took twice as long.
This was my first time going to the Champps in Lansing, MI. Previously I lived in Columbus, OH, and I would frequently go to Champps to watch games on TV and have a nice meal. When I found that there was a Champps in Lansing, I thought I would try to see if it was still as good as it used to be. The location in Lansing did not live up to expectations. The food was not prepared well and the service was lacking. Normally I do not like to complain, however, this was beyond my threshold for a poor experience. Would give zero stars if I could.
Great! Food and service was good. Atmosphere great.
Excellent & terrific tasting food. Our waitress was super friendly & efficient. Certainly an ASSET for your restaurant.
I am a door dash driver. Today I received 2 separate orders to this restaurant. They did not provide me with either one. The manager was very rude and refused to do anything to help about either order. The first they claimed they never received due to tablet issues. My app told me the order has already been paid for and gave me a number to place the order. They would not do it. The second order they told me was already picked up. But not by me. Any other restaurant would remake the order. This one refused. I will never accept another order here and dont recommend other drivers do either. I lost money and my completion rate dropped due to failure to do their jobs.
Good food if A little pricey
I love their appetizers! Potato soup wasnt very good but service was great!
Went there tonight with family...my mom got a salad and as she started eating it noticed there were several bugs crawling in her salad!! And all they basically said was we wont charge u for the salad smh...so for anyone who was there tonight and got a Cesar salad u prolly ate bugs....wont be going back for sure
The food and the service were amazing. Nice atmosphere and a clean restaurant.
Great place for a game and fantastic food.Plus the staff is very friendly and helpful
The bartender Danny there is awesome and fair prices with good quality drinks love it...go there lol
To begin with server was not very attentive we waited 5 min to even have her take our drink order. Another 5+ min to get our drinks the pretzel bites appetizer was ok flat bread pizza was hard in a bad way. For the main course my steak was over cooked and cold. My guests chicken salad was cold dry and tasteless. Im not one to give someone a bad review they did discount the bill but the point is I went out to eat for a good time and good food and just ended up with a bad taste in my mouth. Dont let the photos of the food fool you it looked way better then it tasted.
Very good service! Excellent food.
Food overpriced for quality. On par with mcdonalds chicken
Cheese (Alisa) absolutely a gem. Great service wonderful atmosphere. We were greeted immediately, promptly seated and well taken care of. We stopped after picking up our son Gustavo from the airport and chose to eat so glad we did. Thank you everyone for helping make Gustavos first American meal such a treasure.
Nice food, excellent staff. Though took care when issues arose.
It was great bar keep was super we had wonderful lunch
Great people, great service, wonderful diversiy of antiques.
My honey and I went there for our first time this evening and it was delightful. This was the fourth restaurant we went to tonight in the area due to wait times at others. The hostess was friendly and quick, helping the server, who was a delightful older woman with dark hair who was very quick to get our drinks, check in periodically, and make us aware of the rewards sign up. I will say I wish there were more IPAs on tap, but our Widowmakers burgers were cooked excellently, the pickle fries were great, and the service was beyond spectacular. We will be back soon, with all the delicious options we debated over and look forward to trying them. A perfect dinner date after a 12hr work day. Thank you all 😁
Myself and my 2 sons (21 & 17) went there on 5/5/18 for lunch. We had never been there before. We ordered the chicken Cesar salad, bacon cheeseburger, burger with bleu cheese, cheese sticks and 2 Patron Margaritas. The burgers were cooked as asked. Chicken cesar saladwas Meh! Margaritas were strong. We had the Patron Margaritas. Yuck. I put 1/2 of my water in it. Disappointed. They were $10 each! We just drank them, with the thought that we werent coming back...Cheese sticks $8.50 for maybe 5 or 6. About 1/2 of them had a dab of cheese inside of them. Not sure of the sauce that they came with..not that great, the boys didnt finish it. We were also given dirty plates for the cheese sticks. We had a coupon for $10 off a $30 order and our bill was still $61 and change! Our waiter was busy, looked frazzled. But to be fair to him, it was graduation day for MSU. We like to try new places, this one we will take off our list. The food was typical bar food, but Ive had bar food that was on point! It was way OVER PRICED!! For burgers, salad, cheese sticks & 2 drinks. Our bill would have been over $70 if it werent for my coupon. We were NOT impressed. 😞5/6/18 - I didnt know that when we post pictures with our reviews that someone is able to remove them. What is the purpose of trying to give an honest review? I had to repost a pic of the dirty plate 3 times since I posted this yesterday. Take note: Shows 5 pictures posted... 😑 NOT COOL. Yet creepy knowing they can remove from an actual post!! 👎
Food was excellent. Wagyu burger was amazing. We will be back.
I always love the food, the burgers and fries are amazing.
Chicken sandwich (The Dilemma) was inedible. Drinks were watered down. This place can kick rocks.
Good food, service was a little slow but not that bad.
New rib an Chicken combo but no ribs . Make sure you guys don’t fall short especially for a promotional item .
I was very disappointed in my visit, everything that was fried was over cooked the whole meal taste of old fryer oil and burnt. I ordered the crab dip and the chicken tender appetizer with fries this was my lunch break for work.I waited for over an hour on 2 appetizers and watched everyone that came in after me eat and ck out the server was very nice (Abby) she did try and fix the order but its with the Kitchen and I understand thats she has no control on how the food is being prepared and comes out.
Food was decent but extremely expensive they also didnt really have much to choose from on the menu. I had the salmon and Brussel sprouts. The sprouts were very ashy and burnt and dried out. The salmon was ok.
Food and service were great!
So I’m going to share an honest experience I had at Champps. Honestly not a bad place to go to and spend time with your family, clean place, decent food, nice waitresses. Those are the good stuff, so don’t think you’re going to go there expecting a bad time. However, the reason I’m giving a low rating is based off of 2 things which is the food and the waitressing. The waitresses are nice people however, slow service, lack of customer service, and not collecting plates when your table is filled. Now the food is honestly the worse part of it all however, I can’t say everything is bad because I haven’t tried everything. Here is everything I heard is good- Burgers- chicken sandwiches/slides-SaladsHere is what I had- Ribs- steakThe salad was honestly pretty good not going to lie. I had a side of Italian dressing with it and it was actually really good and that’s coming from a person who doesn’t like vegetables haha. However the ribs and steak was horrible.Ribs: There is absolutely no way the ribs were grilled/smoked. The ribs were dry, you get sick of eating it because it just has such a boring taste to it that makes you tired and full fast. These ribs had to be thrown in the oven. I specialize in cooking meats and after having these ribs theres just no way they were grilled or smoked.Steak: Asked for medium well, got medium rare. Was the cooking on the medium rare bad? For a medium rare it’s not bad. However, ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. I fed the steak to my dog because I’m positive they never seasoned it. If you want just a plain steak with no seasonings and just salt and pepper then CHAMPPS IS JUST FOR YOU!This doesn’t mean the place is bad, this just means I don’t recommend the steak and ribs and letting you know there is decent customer service.
Good bar, nice employees, marginal food
The service was terrible for the second time in a row
Always stop here when visiting MSU!
Great people, fantastic food and keeping everyone safe happy and fill.,!
Ate here today because few restaurants in Lansing were open after 7 pm. That being said, I also havent eaten at a Champs in over 8 years. Nothing spectacular but same as I recall.
Service was good, but the wait time was bad
The Food was delicious 😋 and fabulous
I had the ahi Tuna tacos. They were good my companions had the Shrimp Tacos and the rib eye steak both said that there food was good. I found the tuna quite fishy tasting for tuna.
Champlain in Lansing Michigan is a well appointed sports bar and restaurant with a surprisingly varied menu and legendary beer cellar. Noisy on weekend/game nights so perhaps not ideal for intimate nights out, but the atmosphere is terrific and the food is a cut above what most would expect from competitors.
Was ok. Air was broken day we were there.
Food was terrible and overpriced.
Food was good but cook in kitchen wearing mask on chin while preparing food. Mask not covering mouth or nose. He relieved the cook who wore his mask on chin and lower lip. These are clear health violations during COVID precautions. Even though food tasted good, will not be back until management takes care of employee actions. See my Facebook page for photo of cook with chin covering.
Went when it was dead. Food was kind of eh, steak was pretty dry, and only got one drink refill when there was hardly anyone there. But all in all it was okay.
Good food, good arrangement during the pandemic. Friendly staff.
OMG! We tried this for the first time tonight in Lansing. My fiance and I split the full rack ribs with waffle fries and the Combination Platter Appetizer everything was AMAZING. Ribs fell off the bone. The appetizer was chicken wings, potato skins, cheese sticks, pretzel bites. Just AMAZING. The people were very polite
First time here, really liked it, friendly staff, nice decor, tons of TVs with sports, good menu, good food and decent distancing/mask wearing.
Sat and waited. No service.
Fabulous food. Good service. One of my favorite spots.
Well... We used to visit Champps often. Because of Covid 19 we havent been out to restaurants hardly at all. This evening we were in East Lansing and decided to go to Champps for dinner. In hate to say it but we should have gone elsewhere. We both got burgers (meat was cooked as ordered 👍) but the buns were close to stale, there was no sauce of any type on my burger (the one w/egg) and it was very dry (I picked the bun and limp lettuce off it) and dipped it in some BBQ sauce my wife got for her burger. My fries were Luke warm. The union rings the wife got were awesome. We got an order of fried pickle fries & a third of them were burnt, a third were under fried and a third were cooked perfect. Iced tea and coke were good. So for $46 + tax + tip we could have gone to Rallys and got enough food for a family of 4! AND it would would have tasted way better (Big Buford and the BBQ Burger). Our service was great, even though she had to prep and serve all meals and drinks to all of her tables (plus I bet she had to bus them also). Long story short, we wont be back. The 3 stars is for our server (which should be 5 stars for her).
Decent food, better than expected. One need to wear a mask to abide to executive order, they denied about10 entries on my visit. Very nice staff.
The onion soup was thick and very salty. Out burger was supposed to be medium and it was well done. A very dry wayy!! And the cocktail? Couldn’t even mix this syrup with the rest of drink. Very disappointing.
Best Champps Ive been to regarding the food.. service could improve.. lots of beverage misses with large party.
8-26-20 Our order was messed up and Brittany(manager) and her staff did a wondering job with helping with our order and making sure it was right. Great customer service and I will go back there again.
I was just at Champps last night with a large group. We had reserved a table in the fireplace room, which does have a lovely atmosphere. Beyond the atmosphere, the rest of the experience was less than stellar. It was clear from the beginning that our server was annoyed that she either had a large group, or was there at all. Our water glasses had been sitting out so long all the ice was melted. We had no silverware, which we asked for several times before it was actually brought to us. Three people in our group were running late from the football game, so we told her we were going to order and they would just put their orders in when they got there. After waiting an hour for my food, I ended up paying and leaving without eating, since I had a long drive home. When I told the waitress this, she made no attempt to make it right, or apologize. When I talked with the rest of my family this morning it was clear that she waited to put in all of our orders, and the people who arrived last, got their food first. I would never go here again, especially after a football game. And I certainly hope the rest of their waitstaff is more friendly and appreciative of their customers.
I wanted to Really like this place but I cannot stress the importance of greetings and first impressions. I frequently do reviews on places and coming from many years of customer service I understand people have off days.My server was awesome and the food was good, but my issue was the greeting and it didnt feel like a very welcoming place but again, giving the benefit of the doubt, Id try this place one more time to see if it is different and will write a different review. Thanks,
Food was decent. Service was slow. Atmosphere was bland. Wont be back.
We waited a half hour plus for our food during which time our server never came back to check on us. Food was served luke warm and the server had to round up silverware since we weren’t given any when we were seated (while our food continued to cool off). We had to ask for drink refills. Our server asked if we wanted dessert, we said no and expected her to bring us our bill. One of the bartenders went to find our server since she didn’t come back with our bill, more than ten minutes later, we finally were given our bill.
WOULD NOT go here! Food is gross. You should see how it’s prepared. I was a cook their and we had the health department come in a few times for old food, food left under the make line not in containers or Dated. (Make lines didn’t work) they always had puddles and puddles of water under them setting on the food! I have photos of everything! Sheila (The GM) doesn’t know how to do her job or manage. She relies on everyone to do her work. (Ask her how to make something) I had to teach her how to cut an avocado. There is mold in the make lines and a lot of the food is old as well. Management is UNPROFESSIONAL! They buy T.Vs instead of fixing the leaking roof. This place won’t be up for much longer! Don’t waste your time or money! If you are in the Eastwood area I wouldn’t recommend you feeding that food to RATS! So many other good places around! Don’t get sick off this food! (Couldn’t give less than 1 star unfortunately) (wish I could post these pictures to)
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, but the food is not so great. The service is slow, burgers come without toppings that you ordered, and their steaks are overcooked. Even the broccoli I ordered was cold when I got it and too crunchy. Definitely will not be coming back
Good food service and drinks
Great food and service.
Wonderful food and service.
They, staff, servers, all work hard, too bad the SOM Gov isnt backing our communities.
Watched MSU basketball game here. Very high energy. There were other games/sports on also. We were seated right away. Service was good. Got a little crowded shortly after that. But people seemed to be, being seated relatively quickly. Food was good, especially the fried Brussels sprouts. Also liked the devilled eggs.
Ive been here several times, food and service is always great. I love the atmosphere. LOTS of TVs so great place to go to watch sports. Great beer selection as well. If your looking for a quiet family restaurant, this is not your place, they like to play music and sports. If your looking for an upscale sports bar with craft beers / drinks and awesome food, this is your place!
My favorite dinner Pulled Pork with an substitute of Caribbean Jerk Sauce! Service was superb! Thank you Mitch for the great service!! This place never disappoints I watched every plate that left the kitchen, each one was perfect! Bring a friend and enjoy!!
Food was delicious, to bad MSU lost.
Good food
This place was so good, I really enjoyed the food. I thought the menu had very reasonable prices, especially for the food we got. My steak was cooked to perfection and his ribs just fell off the bone. I cant wait to come back and get another satisfying meal.
We showed up late on a Sunday, like near 11pm, yet they had a full menu available with no griping from the service or kitchen. The food was delicious, just like it had been the previous times wed been there. Great for anytime, but especially for late night when you wouldnt expect to find any place still serving.
This venue is awesome all the way! The bartender Danny is welcoming and down to earth as ever. He explains the menu clear in anything that you are interested in far as drinks as food on the menu. I recommend anybody in the Lansing area if not anywhere else to come get service with Danny at Champps, he is great at the bar and as an individual. Kudos to him and the staff for having him. I will definitely be arriving here more often as a regular. You will not be disappointed for your first time.
My sister and I came in with some friends over the weekend and my was it busy! Our drinks came out promptly but the food did not. Our server Shae did suggest that we put in an appetizer as the kitchen was running slow so we took her suggestion and ordered the brussels sprouts. We ordered a few burgers, salads and some tacos for dinner. Our server let us know that it was gonna be a while longer on the food so we ordered a few more drinks and waited patiently. When the food finally came it came out sporadically. My sisters tacos were cold and so was my soup. Shae apologized and quickly fixed the issue but it should never have been delivered cold in the first place. Also some of our guests were done eating by time the rest of our food arrived! Although we were quite disappointed with the kitchen we received wonderful service from Shae and will be back for her. She accommodated us and brought a beautiful dessert that didn’t last very long on the table!
Great place for a quality quick meal!Had a delicious burger and fries, with little wait time, even during the lunch hour.Friendly staff and a nice sporty atmosphere. Clean eating area, and a nice menu. Will be back for sure.Easy access from the highway, and right there next to some shopping outlets and the wonderful NCG movie theater.
Great food and mixed drinks. Britney was our waitress and even being new she was fantastic. We will ask for her by name next time we are there.
Champs is always a good place to go for some decent bar food and to watch a game. Wait staff is friendly and courteous, and the food is pretty good. Cant say Ive ever had a poor experience here. They continually update their menu pretty frequently.
Fast friendly service on a Saturday afternoon. Brussel Sprouts appetizer was delicious & they got the customization of my chicken sandwich spot on! Delicious 😋
Good range of menu and drinks. Staff was very helpful and friendly and even if they were jampacked the time we were there, when staff say he will come back, rest assured he really will come back! Their spare ribs is amazing and salad. Cocktail also on point. We will come back.
Loved it!! And Derick was the best server to us!! (No, I dont know him) He made our lunch so enjoyable!!
Champps is always okay... Not bad, certainly, but never great. Service at the bar is usually pretty good, but table service is always slow. Weve been here multiple times and ultimately decided Champps is a good stop for a drink and little else. (Hall of Fame Cafe across the highway was a better stop for a meal.)
The food was delicious. I also had a good cocktail. The price is as usual for a chain restaurant.
One of the most elegant and friendly place we have visited. Great staff and delicious food!
We waited over an hour for service. When my wifes 17$ french dip came it was refrigerator cold. This isnt my only bad experience. We used to love it a couple years ago but its slowly been going down hill. I can understand an off night. But lately you are hoping for a good night.
