We ordered half size Nacho and the biggest highest burger in town! When my order was ready, everyone surrounded me stood up and took pictures! 🤣🤣their Boss Logg burger is really impressive and eye catching. It had 4 slices of beef briskets and two burger patty, some pulled meat, plus lays of loaded fries, yummy! A must try!

Great eclectic BBQ joint. Pulled pork nachos are crazy good. Fries are the best I have had in a long time! Mac and cheese and baked beans are good, but I’d definitely just get fries next time. Great place!

First time to try Brisket and it’s phenomenal ! I can fairly say this is the best BBQ restaurant in Lansing. If you plan to go on the weekend, prepare to wait at least an hour or order online. For the side dish I recommend the fruit cobbler. Always fresh and made to order

This place is fantastic. Great ambiance, quick service, amazing food. Had the meat mountain, and it was definitely a mountain. The brisket was perfectly cooked and almost melted in my mouth. Overall a great food experience.

Not my favorite. I had smoked turkey. It was cut from a turkey roll, not a fresh cut meat. They microwaved(?) to heat it up as it had hard edges and no natural sauces. Meal was served on an aluminum tray like what I would expect to see in an old prison movie. Sides, reheated not freshly made (leftovers?) served in styrofoam or throwaway tins. There was a paper tray liner that shredded when I cut my “meat.” 6 sauces on the table to choose from…all tasty! But each sauce was a mystery (not labeled) and none were true BBQ sauce. The best part of my experience was the waiter. He was intelligent, efficient and helpful without loitering. Easy parking a block away. We left after dark and a man approached up demanding money, but not associated with Meat Restaurant.

This place was amazing! The hubby got the double heifer! As you can see it was a huge burger loads of flavor! I got the meat mountain also very good kinda wish I would have asked for the corn on the side of was a bit too spicy for me. And the trailer park skins! 😍 I am NOT a fan of pimento but these hit different 🤤🤤

I got brisket and smoke broccoli salad and blue cheese potato salad. I would like to give it 12 stars please. Words of the wise: parking can be challenging. We went on a Sunday when the meters arent regulated. That was a good play If youre looking to not pay a lot for parking and there is Construction in the area right now but meat barbecue is awesome! My husband got me a mountain which was also awesome. Thats what you should get if you want a little bit of everything all mixed up. I love that there was lots of brisket all throughout it.

Hole in the wall, literally, most enjoyable, no waiting. Quick seats to the bar. Autumn was great and recommended your top burger but we only came for drinks next time, a burger for sure. Didnt know there was seating in the other room, bonus. Lots of seating

Absolutely fantastic place. Some of the best ribs Ive had almost beating Texas, sides are a miss for me but occasionally the cobbler is super good. Rhubarb cobbler was my favorite. Ive drove an hr plus here and brought friends here and they swear off any Detroit place compared to Meat. Definitely worth the trip

We had a large group of about 35 Hockey Boys and their families. The manager was amazing at accommodating all of us by breaking us up into smaller tables and he hustled to do so. EVERYONE in our large group RAVED about the FOOD!! Service was great too! Food was amazing.

Great food and great selection of sauces. Waiter was nice and friendly, and there is ample parking outside. Only issue was the menu was a little dirty but we wiped it down with our wipes, not a big deal.

We love this place! Although our last experience put a little cloud over our love affair with Meat. Atmosphere was very flat, food was good (nachos quite lean on meat), and the meal was very rushed. It was as if we were a bother. Well give it some time before we go back.

This place is aptly named. Theres a whole lot of meat served. Barbecue is done well, but its a bit overrated. The focus is on the sauce you add at the table. Food looks better than it tastes, underseasoned...especially the sides. Fantastic service and great atmosphere, huge portions. Heard this place was on Triple D a while back. Ive gotta see if Guy thinks its as tasty as his counter service chicken spot in Florida. At least on the fries, I think Guy does it better.

Ive worked up in Lansing for quite a while and Meat BBQ had never disappointed. The food is consistently phenomenal and well-proportioned. The wait staff is exceptional as well and very knowledgeable about their food and the beers on tap. This last time I went out here, I was with my girlfriend and our server Brett was able to give me a great tip on beer (A limited release blackberry blonde from Cheboygen Brewery) and we enjoyed the food immensely!

This food was freaking AMAZING!!!! That is by far the BEST beer I have ever had. Oh, and the food was pretty freaking good too! The bar tender was fantastic! It does take awhile for you food but totally worth the wait. The egg rolls….yum! Brisket was soooo delish! Did I mention we will keep coming here from Brighton? Thanks guys, can’t wait to come back!

I decided to have my birthday dinner here at meat bbq and it was definitely the wrong idea. The restaurant was desolate with a few people eating. There was about twice as many workers as there was patrons but you would have never noticed. Even though the food did come out very quickly and what was ordered was a full rack of ribs and brisket with sides. It was ready within 7 minutes, this assured me that they were just warming up my meal not cooking it. So as expected the meat was rubbery & sides cold in the middle. I noticed the patrons sitting by us were definitely not pleased with her meal either. I will not be returning any time soon. The only reason for ☆☆ was the GWAR poster on the wall.

I always have a great experience eating at Meat. I had dinner with my dad here last night and everything was delicious. I had the Miyagi, it was really good and had a nice kick, it was just a bit hard to eat as the chicken was falling out of the bun. Fries were crispy and very yummy also. Our server was very attentive and friendly. One of my favorite spots for a casual dinner!

Best macaroni and cheese around- crispy and baked on top with creamy deliciousness underneath. Corn and mash potatoes were amazing too, everything is heavy on the black pepper which is how I love it! Last but certainly not least the meat is amazing and as tender as you could believe. Jazzy Q sauce is where it’s at!!

Hearty home-cooked comfort food! Grab a seat at the little outdoor patio, eat inside, or get your food to-go. We tried to order by phone but got an answering machine so we took a chance and went in person to order to-go. It only took 20 minutes from ordering to ready to go, and the Riverwalk nearby was a nice meander while we waited. It was near the end of the evening so a couple sides were no longer available, as they make them fresh daily. We had meat fries (like poutine but more intense) and a baked chicken wing plate with fries and baked beans. Both were generous portions! Try the special sauces as well.

First time I stopped here was in 2018 when on a work trip and let me say. WOW. The food is amazing i love the heavy metal theme and recently they added a side room for more customers and it’s amazing. They also have a GWAR poster on the wall and that’s pretty rad.

The food is incredible! It was clean and orderly but kind of empty due to limited seating because of the COVID-19 restrictions. Im used to the place being packed! The pulled pork is awesome and they have the best cornbread EVER!

Even with all of the challenges presented to restaurants for the last year and a half, finally getting to sit at a table in this place was as amazing as it was the first time I came here years ago. Theyre still very cautious and careful in the current environment. Service was a little slow, but it was a Tuesday, and theyve been through a lot. The food did not disappoint. Took an extra order of cornbread to go.

All of the titular smoked meats that Ive tried (the brisket, chicken wings, ribs, and pulled pork) have been fantastic. Great flavor without being dried out. Lots of good home made sauces to try also. Of the sides that Ive had and seen, I think that the fries are probably the best. There is usually a line out front when they open at noon, but if you get there a little early you can probably be towards the front of it and sit right down.

This place makes me so, SO angry.It makes me angry that I ever wasted time at Texas Roadhouse instead of eating here.The brisket is phenomenal and all of their sauces are delicious!Service is quick and attentive as well.Definitely check it out!

I must preface all BBQ reviews by me are weighted against Texas BBQ. I like heavy smoke. Brisket with a 2 smoke ring. NO SAUCE!So, my first warning was the 6-8 sauces on the table. I suppose it allows you to make whatever region you prefer out of it. I had the meat plate of fatty Brisket and added Texas sausage. Sides were mac n cheese and beans, comes with cornbread. The sausage was very good, the rest left me a bit ho hum. The quality was there, portions were good. The brisket was way too mild in my estimation. Needed the sauces to give it something. The mac n cheese was a bit odd, more like the texture of bread pudding, again fine but not slap yo momma good. Beans were like dressed up pork n beans. again for me missing any smoke off the grill flavor. Cornbread was ok. Im convinced nobody north of Tennessee can smoke meat.Place had a great vibe tho. Classic rock at the time, nice little courtyard and open dining room section. Service was very good.

Everything Ive had from here was absolutely fantastic!Excellent macaroni and cheese. Perfectly smoked beef brisket. Better than mom makes, potato salad. Cant complain about the cornbread.

What can I say about this place? Its legendary. The atmosphere is cool with the heavy metal playing and cool metal memorabilia covering every surface. Good amount of space. Friendly staff. The food is positively divine. You really cant go wrong with anything you pick if you enjoy barbecued meat. The boss log is INSANE. I swear they make it bigger every time I order it. If you come to Lansing come here. Theres a reason Guy Fieri came here.

The food was absolutely phenomenal, huge portions and they were really accommodating in regards to food allergies! I have a severe gluten allergy and there were plenty of options available. Our waitress was so polite and helpful. I will definitely be coming back soon! :)

Awesome bbq, great atmosphere. Fabulous menu where beautifully prepared MEAT is the star but there is so much more available. The bar has amazing drinks and a changing roster of unique brews to keep you coming back. Try some house made jerky too!

It was as advertised. Met friends there.. The only reason we wont be back is weve moved on from these types of meals, and the menu is very limited.

At this point, Ive been to Meat and dined in 10+ times. Its a spot that cant be beat. It has a great, unique atmosphere, good drinks, and most importantly, great food!The hours are a bit limited and some of that is due to COVID. However, Ive really never had a bad experience there. Meat has been in Old Town Lansing for a number of years, and continues to expand, which goes to show theyre doing something right.I would rank it as my favorite spot in the old town area, but because of that, it can be tonight to get into as well. Id you travel the world eating brisket, you wont be disappointed here, but you might not rank it in your top 3 best ever either.

Both the regular pork and brisket were both very good. Not dried out at all. Service was excellent, friendly, and timely. I would recommend this to anyone from out of town. Be prepared to wait up to an hour to eat though, it’s worth the wait.

The Turkey Sandwich was supposedly smoked but it was bland in taste. The fries were to salty. The service was poor BUT there was only one server for the full restaurant it seemed so I can understand why it was poor but also never got my iced tea even though I asked several times. This place was good but I don’t recommend here. The only star is for the garlic sauce that saved the sandwich overall don’t recommend here.

Prices seemed moderate to high but keep in mind this is a real barbeque restaurant and when you take that into account the prices were very generous. The brisket was delicious. Sandwiches were huge. I tried this coffee barbeque sauce that I would kill to get the recipe to.All in all it was a really good experience, if not a bit busy. Food was delicious and theres public parking just down the street. Word of warning, they have no vegan menus (except for their colorfully labeled drink section).Do yourself a favor and visit Meat.

This is by far the best BBQ place I have ever been to. Bbq is not usually something I get particularly excited about, but this place...OMG. The wings are huge and taste amazing. And the spicy corn side dish is nothing like anything Ive ever had anywhere else. Also the best cornbread Ive had anywhere! Honestly...I could go on and on about this place. Best BBQ north of Memphis. Be sure and get there early to get the full menu. They will run out of things nearer to closing up but I consider that a good thing. 2 things come to mind when told a restaurant is out of something are freshness and quality.

I was told by multiple people this was the best place for bbq in Lansing. Lansing apparently doesnt understand that brisket should be smoky. Not sure if they dont smoke their meat or dont know how to operate their smoker but something is amiss with this southern bbq joint. Im from the south and have had better meat from smokers located in gas station parking lots.

I’ve eaten here many times, but this is the first review. It’s really good BBQ. They have an assortment of sandwiches and plates to choose from. You’ll fine six sauce bottles on the table with a description card describing the flavors. At the busy times I’ve never waited more than 40 min, but the average was 30 min or less. There are some tables outside for dinning weather permitting.They also have an assortment of craft beers and mixed drinks as well. Also if you have a gathering you can call ahead and order pans of BBQ from there gathering menus.Please hit “Like” if this was helpful. Thanks.

Giving a 5 star review as we’re on our way here for lunch. We drive an hour and a half (one way) for a FABULOUS lunch and then drive back home. We do this about once a month and have NEVER been disappointed!! Thank goodness my daughter went to MSU and on one of our visits to see her she said “there’s this new place called Meat that everyone is talking about”.

First time there. Went to visit a relative that works there, but he had just stepped out. The staff was very helpful and our waitress was very nice to our son who wanted to keep talking to her, she just listened and made him feel like he mattered. Thanks for the good food! Will be back when we get over there again, we are from Grand rapids.
