I was headed to Rehoboth Beach for my birthday weekend and my date found this restaurant to meet up for breakfast. I wasnt very confident about the location and even tried to persuade him to find a place elsewhere. I finally relented and although its not a stand alone diner/restaurant, we are foodies and thought, lets try it! We were blown away by the friendly service and the amazing food. We could not believe our taste buds. Every bite was delicious and our waitress, Danielle, was attentive, upbeat and wonderful! I ate my entire omelette, sans one bite which I offered to my date and we shared the crispy tater tots. This is now my GO-TO breakfast place on my way to the beach. 4 stars because they did not serve coffee- I must have my java :). Do not judge a book by its cover- go in and ask for Danielle. You will love it!
I was skeptical because the gps took us to an office building and the wait was 1.5 hours. We waited for about 20 minutes and it was our turn to sit. We ordered the catfish and grits, loaded catfish, lobster and mashed potatoes, and the French toast and chicken. The food was definitely something to write home about. It was delicious. I would like to try all three locations and compare notes. Great Job!
Absolutely incredible portions were generous and the food was fresh and prepared beautifully. If youre in the area this establishment is 100% recommended. I had the chicken with french toast and the catfish and grits. Both were wonderful only regret is I had to get take out and didnt to have the genuine experience.
I came to kitchen cray to try their shrimp and grits, ended up getting the seafood grits. They advertise them to come with 6 jumbo prawns but they’re just plain shrimp and not even jumbo just large. As far as the taste, I thought the flavor was really good, the grits were extremely thick though, which isn’t my preference. There were some plates going by that I had my eye on that definitely makes me want to come back. As far as the service, the hostess was lovely but our server was rarely present and didn’t even say “thank you, have a nice day “ after we paid which I feel like is the bare minimum of service. The DJ they had played good music, and it was a cool spot.
Food: 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️All of the DMV foodies know that Kitchen Cray is a definite go-to for amazing seafood and southern cuisine! With a menu that’ll make you say ooooooo… The Seafood Salmon, Catfish and Grits, and Chicken and French Toast and Lobster Mac is banging!!!The service however was extremely slow… It took 10mins to get seated, and there was no line and lots of empty tables. In addition it was over 15mins before we got our drinks - lemonade & water!! Whether this is because they were short staffed that day, or need a dedicated host/hostess, I don’t know… But there’s a lot of room for improvement there!I would still go back… 👍🏾
I ordered the salmon and grits. It comes with lump crab, but Im allergic so I had to get it without that. I do feel like the price should change if I cant eat the lump crab. Most places dont care to change the price, but I always suggest that. The sauce that comes over the grits was really good, a tad bit salty though. I went on a Saturday during brunch. To order in store or online wouldve taken like an hour for the food to be made. For that reason we sat outside and the food came out really fast. The waiter wore a mask and our tables were more than 6ft apart. This is the only place Ive dined at during these times. The DJ was good and the weather was nice (October). I ordered the French toast and chicken to go. It looked really good, but didnt taste the greatest. All in all still a 5/5 in my book.
Today I was invited for lunch/brunch by a longtime friend and I reluctantly joined him, since I was prepared to fix a little something at home! Much to my amazement, we ended up at this restaurant/cafe, not far from where I live! I was totally unaware of its presence! My buddy had just learned of it recently also!! It was very unpretentious on the outside, but once we entered and were seated, my feelings changed! We were given menus and we proceeded to make our respective selections! The food arrived and WOW!! The food was delicious, the service more than adequate and the prices were reasonable based on my selection! I will be returning with my family and friends, definitely, God-willing!👌🏽😊🌟...I will try to attach a pic of my choice!!
First of Alll everything was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !!!! Great service. Good music. The grits were soooo good. That French toast was hittin!!! No syrup needed. And the lemon pepper wings, correction...WANNGS!! They were so good, and they had a hint of honey with them, omg. Please go here if its been on your list.
The food was excellent!! Our waitress was a little busy but that was understandable l!! It was my first time but I would definitely come back!!
We pulled up and the music was blasting and instantly I was thinking oh goodness I dont want to eat here. Then we went in and the hostess was nice and seated us. Our server who was also nice and professional took our orders and we waited for out food. While we waited some of the patrons and staff enjoyed the go-go music and danced...and delicious food passed by. We got our food and it was DELICIOUS! I had a salmon salad with crab fried and my husband had the mambo sauce wings. Although the ambiance originally made me give side eye, Im glad we stayed. The atmosphere was actually fun and the food was amazing. I definitely plan on going back...never judge a book by its cover!
Not sure where to start with this cafe. Food here is everything I wanted brunch soul food to be. I ordered online and our food was ready for pick up in 20 minutes. My friends and I shared the grilled lemon pepper wings, lobster mac and cheese, chicken and waffles, and blackened salmon over mashed potatoes. Everything here is rich in butter and really savory. The mac had plenty of lobster and the combination of different cheeses was amazing. The was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The chicken and waffles to go was delicious. Chicken fried to a crisp and the combination of sweet pancakes with their house made icing was to die for. The chicken wings were definitely the highlight. My friends and I agreed they were the best and it had to be because of the lemon pepper dry seasoning. I really enjoyed my experience here. You can tell the chef pays particular attention to each dish and its ingredients. Prices are on the high side for MD brunch, but you get it in quality and taste. Awesome place for brunch. Best to make reservations in advance or order for take out
We made a carry-out order for some catfish over cheddar grits crabmeat and shrimp, french toast and banana pudding. We live a pretty fair drive away and made multiple stops before being able to taste this for the first time. The food was cold, but even that didnt stop the amazing flavors from shining. The dish was cooked to perfection and can only imagine how much better it would be hot. Would definitely get this again.
The restaurant is very clean great atmosphere. The food is prepared like you have a personal chef 😋 and its delicious. Im from out of town, but would come back again also service was attentive during your experience there. The menu a taste variety which I cant wait to try on my next visit.
Great food excellent servers very concerned managers everyone very pleasant. Highly recommend for Brunch.
First time coming to kitchen cray and the bar tender (I believe her name was Sol, that was on the receipt) was AMAZING. She assisted us the entire time and even though she was busy doing MANY other things, she made sure we had a great experience. The raspberry lemonades are delicious and the food outstanding! Definitely coming back!
This place was great! We came for brunch for a friends birthday, sat outside because we wanted to do hookah. The vibe was good along with the music. Service was great as well as the food and mimosas. We definitely will be returning! There can be a wait but its worth it!
Ohhh my goodness! The French Toast will make you wanna holler and throw up both your hands! That goes for the Grits with ANY of the add ins. Generous amounts of seafood. Service was excellent as well. Already planning my next visit!
This food was sooooo good. I’m upset it took me so long to try it. Everything was freaking 💣 BOMB. We had the crab fries, mimosas, and stuffed catfish with crab grits, fried lobster tail, and shrimp. Wheeewwww. Oh I can’t forget the banana pudding. Will def be a returning customer. The customer service was amazing, one of the managers even check in on us to make sure everything was good. Highly, highly recommend.
OMG my children took us here for our 21st anniversary breakfast/ Brunch. Baaaabeeee. This food is off the chain. I had the salmon and crab on a bed of spinach with cheese grits....unbelievable! Grits were creamy and seasoned to perfection. Presentation and taste was phenomenal. My son has crab fries, my husband had French toast and chicken. Hubby devoured the French toast and he does not even like french toast. It was thick cut and seemed like it was fried in the brown sugar so it was crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside. You gotta go try for yourself
The food here is outstanding. I had the catfish and grits. The grits were done perfectly, nice and creamy. The catfish was breaded and cooked to perfection. It was also topped with crab meat that was delicious. It was one of those meals that you could eat for every meal of the day. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Couldnt ask for better service. I will be returning here many times again in the future.
I purchase crabmeat&grits 8 wings and half&half drink the size of an small drink in 2 sandwhich containers. For $31.27 I know where in the time of covid, but this price for such a small fare of grits🤷🏻♂️ I wanted to treat my mom to something special andThis was my 3rd time at lanham location. But I dined in those 2 times. She said never again!
You will definitely feel fortunate to have eaten here! Food, atmosphere and people were extraordinary
Food was good. Cant believe the prices. According to the server, not sure coffee was available & if so, no creamer. Really! Also, be aware, there were 4 in my party and there was a large party charge on the bill. I did inquire about this charge and it was removed. So, make sure u check your bill.
Well let me tell you... this little out of the way lovely cafe.... owned and operated by African American professionals... is one of the best eateries/cafes in Maryland. The level of service and expertise is A plus and the food is 5 star! Its hard to describe the deliciousness of each and every meal but I must give 10 stars for the catfish with grits and lump crab meat.... the lobster mac and cheese, the salmon and the chicken and waffles... they are beyond Amazing.Chef Jojo is a consummate professional he not only prepares the food but he also visits your table and does whatever is necessary to make sure your experience is awesome.Thank you for the wonderful experience.... I will be back.... I have sent several people to the Kitchen Cray Cafe who also rave about the cuisine.Thank you for the wonderful experience and the amazingly delicious food.Proud of you!Alana Vaughn
First trip to KitchenCray Cafe and I was extremely pleased with the service and the food was deliciously good.I will definitely go back.
The food is absolutely AMAZING! You get so much food for your money. I had catfish, lobster, shrimp and crab meat over cheese grits. Also the Live DJ had a really good set. He didn’t play one bad song. The Mimosas was a little iffy too much pulp floating around in the drink. Overall it was a 10/10 experience and I’ll definitely be back!
Fire. Bomb brunch and stuff. Lobster Mac & Cheese should be available everyday. Unfortunately something happened to the over.
We had the salmon dinner and it was great. The food is good. The live music is entertaining but there was a line out the door. Be prepared to wait. It’s worth it.
Get your food to go...If your a foodie, then you definitely wont be disappointed. But if service is important to you then you will be disappointed. Parties of 4 or more get an automatic gratuity of 18%... not a problem when the server is attentive, but when your server never returns, never refills your glass and huffs and puff when you ask to be serviced... then there is a problem!
Amazing Black Owned Business!! We were constantly checked on and made sure everything this was okay. The wait was a little long but honestly it was very worth it the food looked, smelled, and tasted amazing, so much so that we ordered a to go order. The drinks were good too. Just to let you know on Saturdays they have an express menu, the full menu is available through the weekdays M-F.
Was pleasantly surprised. Food, service and atmosphere all great. I had brunch Lobster Mac and cheese which was great. Lobster was fried and very tender not over cooked. Mac and cheese was creamy and tasty. Price was perfect for what you get. My friends had catfish and grits to which they wished for a way to sop it up! Definitely worth the wait (there was a line)
I took a good friend to Lanham location on yesterday because I had thoroughly enjoyed my previous visits and wanted to share it with her. She ordered French toast but had to send it back because it was cold. I ordered the omelette which was totally disappointing. Smallest omelette I had ever seen but I didnt send it back. Perhaps it was a off day but my friend certainly will not come again. I had sent her pictures of remarkable dishes I had there before and yesterday was no where near previous visits. Again perhaps an off day!
I had such an amazing time. The food is divine I had salmon bites with the Mac and cheese. OMG 😃!! Ill be back for the french toast. Our server was great. No complaints!
Be prepared to wait. They stay packed. I asked if we could share a table to not have to wait. I got lucky. After server took my order, I waited for bathroom key. The restaurant is in a office building complex. The food presentation and smell made me go in. I ordered Infused Fruit Water with the Seafood Salmon and added Grilled Shrimp. I did not have ANY left overs. My daughter ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese with a Caesar Salad and Champagne and juice. The server Joseph C. was funny and on point. I enjoyed the DJ and bartenders dancing while they worked.
Food & drinks were great. Didn’t wait long and we had a great waitress! There was a DJ playing all the right jams.
Everything was amazing the food, the vibe, the service. Soul was our server at the bar and gave us great customer service. Definitely will be back!
Went to KitchenCray On a Thursday afternoon around 1pm with a friend of mine and the wait we were quoted was about 40 mins. It was super packed so we needed up waiting about an hour for a table for two. After we were seated we were swiftly attended to and overall al the staff were incredible friendly. I love that fact that it’s black owned and predominantly black employees too. My friend ordered the Lobster Mac and cheese and I got the seafood shrimp and grits — lobster, crab, shrimp with a side of fries. My grits didn’t come out hot enough for my preference and the chef was very kind to make me a new serving. Overall the food was delicious and I look forward to being back, hopefully to a bigger location because they’re incredibly popular!
THIS PLACE IS EXCEPTIONAL!!!! You will leave full. You will leave happy. You will dance in your seat. You will want to stand up and clap for whomever made your meal. Our server Yeabserra was a joy. Pleasant, helpful and really was patient with us first timers. The mimosas were delicious😍We had an omelette, French Toast, salmon w/mash and crab grits❤️❤️ I can’t wait for my next visit. Now Go! You will really enjoy the ambiance, the music, and of course the food. I’m in love😘
After traveling for almost an hour we were told that the wait would be an hour so we decided to wait..we waited and after checking back to see how close we were to being seated, we were told that it may be another hour🤦♀️🤦♀️ the food was delicious but I believe they need more help...I will give it a second try.
The food is great but the portions are getting smaller each time I go. The services is also lacking. I love to support my black owned businesses but we have got to do better. For the $93 bill the about of food is not there and food was incorrect. Might be a while before I return.
The location is random...but the vibe was good. Music was great. Drinks were good. Food was good.
Found this place on Google and I must say the whole experience was was top notch. The staff, food and the DJ was wonderful.
So.. I am going to give a very honest review of how I felt about this place. Get ready!! I am a huge foodie and love to eat but the flavors of the dishes wasnt anything superb. First, we went to the Sunday brunch reservation only. The place was a strange office building and there was nothing special about the atmosphere of the place. Strange location and the restrooms were not easily accessible. Now to the food: you can choose one appetizer one entree and one dessert. The appetizer I got was the wings and there was an uneven number of flats to drumsticks. I got all drumsticks and one of my other friends got all flats. Luckily we were able to mix it up. The flavor was okay but again, it wasnt anything outstanding. The deviled eggs were again okay but honestly we couldve made this at home. The catfish I have to say was flavored and fried well so that was a plus. The grits on the other hand was way too heavy and creamy and hard to finish. The chicken and waffles.. the waffles were fine but the chicken was overcooked and dry. The mimosas had too much OJ so I asked to have more champagne versus OJ. The servers were excellent and brought over a pitcher of mimosa that had more champagne so the service was great. Was this place worth 45 dollars? No. Was the service good? Yes. Now.. the peach cobbler.. that was probably the highlight of all the dishes. It was legit and I have to say was probably one of the best ones I have had. There was a warm pastry crust with fresh peaches, caramel drizzle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top to finish it. That was yum. Would I go back for the price? No. I have been to many other brunches for less that I have enjoyed. But if you want to experience it go ahead!
Great location, great customer service, excellent food, and good vibes. I dont have a single complaint and thats very rare. Its a new establishment so well see where it goes but for now I am impressed. We even got to meet the chef. Give this place a try especially for the Sunday brunch.***Third time here, this place keeps getting better and better. The food is enough to keep you coming back!
I didnt get a chance to order... Me and my husband went for lunch and after sitting for an hour we left. Never got water, a hi we be right with you and wanted to charge $40 for hookah just to sit outside. We ended up at Milk and Honey to eat.... Terrible Service
Food was delish.. Customer service on point.. Will be back...
Oh yeah...... now this is where you go for gourmet comfort food. Good ole stick to your ribs, tasty, cooking. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. This is a must visit spot, and bring your friends, family and maybe even a neighbor along because youll need them to help you try out all of the great menu items.
Believe the reviews; it is as good as they say. The dishes are different and delicious! The potato hash is a mix of sweet and regular potatoes that is simply delightful. The shrimp & grits is the best I’ve tasted. Couldn’t t help but look at others’ food as bought to nearby tables. Everything looked great & tasty! The owner came to our table, and it seemed he was making rounds to greet all the guests. EXPAND, please, but in the meantime, it’s worth the wait (which was much shorter than we were first told).
The food was great. The strawberry lemonade mimosas were amazing. Our server was outstanding. Cant wait to go back.
The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, hot and a beautiful presentation. Great service as well from the moment we walked in the door. I highly recommend them.
The food here is so so so good! Every time I visit from Minnesota this is where I want to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner!! The French toast is coated in God’s gold because I have never tasted any French toast like it! All I’ll say is go eat here! Period!!!
Had the Catfish Alfredo and a side of Mac and Cheese. Both very average. Alfredo is very watery and lacks any Cajun seasoning. Mac and Cheese was very watery and not fully baked. The cost of both items were too high for the quality. Mac and cheese was large portion but not tasty. Don’t recommend
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the seafood salmon with lobster, crabmeat, mashed potatoes and spinach. Also had the lobster mac n cheese that was to die for.
BELIEVE THE HYPE!My review will be honest and lengthy, so lets start with the bottom line... Go get your meal. You wont be disappointed! The food is definitely all that. The name of the place says its a cafe - and it is, so dont go looking for restaurant ambiance. It took a while to get seated, but the Manager/Hostess, Kia was very pleasant and all about business. She addressed everyone with kind tones and patience and kept you informed of the status of your wait. Once we were seated, our server, Taesha was just wonderful. She was like a little butterfly flitting from table to table with a smile ensuring that all her guests were happy. Theres nothing I love better than good customer service, and I got it here. The food was wonderfully and artistically plated. If presentation is half the meal, then each plate served was a meal and a half. After placing my order, every time I saw a plate go by it looked so appetizing, I wondered if I should have ordered that. Warning... if youve got high blood pressure, diabetes or any other food restrictive ailment - this aint the place for you. Everything is rich in ingredient and seasoned to nines. The combination of flavors in my dish (fried catfish with crayfish, shrimp & lobster on spinach & grits) was like a 4th of July celebration in my mouth. I will say that the $$ when you look up the cafe on line is a bit misleading. It should probably list $$$. But even with that you get your moneys worth and then some. The portions are generous and the quality of the food is top notch. The only other thing is that if you need to use the restroom, get directions, a code, and drop breadcrumbs to find your way back (lol).Go, Eat, Enjoy! Then, go back for more.
I came to KitchenCray after hearing about it on Twitter. The overall experience was good. However, what I saw on social media did not entirely stand up to my expectations. The french toast was very flavorful and a bit dry. I would have loved a side of syrup. The chicken was average. It was a little tough for my liking.Due to the limited weekend menu (maybe eight items), I was unable to get the full experience that I would have hoped for.
First time visiting. Limited menu on Saturdays, with a few additional specials. Unfortunately, I was not told about specials, but found out when other guests were told. Nonetheless, my food was very good. Ordered the seafood salmon. A lot of food...a bit pricey. Relaxing atmosphere with a DJ. I will be back.
The food was Fantabulous! I was visiting from Florida and we need this in Florida come on down!
Great food! Wish there were more options for the drinks (no coffee)
Survey says Oh Hell YesThis place is a must come back to.The wait was about 30 minutes and they took our mobile number to let us know when it was our time to be seated. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Everybody looked so happy which speaks to the owners and managers. The Crab Tots were so amazing. We all enjoyed them even our 2 year old GrandDaughter. The toys were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lump crab meat was great and the sauce was da bomb.My Wife and I had the chicken and French Toast and our Daughter had the Lobster Mac and our son in law had the Hot Honey Wings.Hot Honey Wings were flavorful. Sweet with a tad bit of kick. I would have liked them to be a little crisper but they were great. The Lobster Mac was not only presented beautifully it tasted as good as it looked. The mac and cheese was cheesy and just darn good. I love mac and cheese and my Wife and I make our own version at home, this rivaled what we are used to. The Lobster fried was so good. It was not as hot as the mac and cheese like it was prepared before but was so flavorful it did not matter. That Chciken and French toast is something dropped down from heaven. The outer crust on the French toast was amazing and the chicken was cooked to perfection.Antoine was our server and I have to say was the nicest guy I have ever been served by.Yes, come here, support this business and make your stomach happy. We are coming back!
Food was sooo good. Only hiccup was they got my mothers order wrong so we had to wait for her meal again. The service was good too.
The food is AMAZING. It is worth your time & your $$$. My husband & I seen the Cafe featured on a show and we knew we had to try it, being a true foodie! And, I wasnt disappointed. My mouth was/is so happy. ❤
The food was a 5, the service was a 4. I would definitely return.
Went for the first time, food was pretty good, Catfish and Salmon over grits 👍👍,
Was traveling through and thought they close at 5 as posted online, but it was closed at 4 and the nice servers inside recommended we visit the H street location. Also, it is in an industrial office space. Odd location. Please update your times online.
Amazing food and friendly service. Will definitely be going back.
