My husband and I were staying at The Cork Factory Hotel, and saw a guy coming out of the chicken place. I asked the guy about the chicken place, and then noticed his shirt. It said, Quips. The gentleman was a bartender at Quips, and gave the chicken place a great review. When I asked the bartender about Quips, he also gave a great rundown, and recommended we stop in for the Fish and Chips. We did so later that evening, and the bartender recognized us and thanked us for coming. Multiple servers (at least 3 of them) came by our table regularly to make sure we were taken care of, and to ensure our glasses were filled. The fish and chips were excellent, and the portions too huge to finish! I highly recommend Quips if you are in town! Great food. Great service!

Quaint place. Liked it a lot. Got to play darts with real, stick in your body of thrown at you darts. Would go back just to play darts. Just had drinks, beer for me vodka for her. Prices were good. Will have to eat the next time to see what thats like. Looked good on the plate of the nearest patron

I love Quips. One of my favorite spots in Lancaster. Id give five stars, but they recently took their vegetarian friendly burger off the menu. Most of the food is not veg friendly, so now pretty much the only things I can eat are salad and a couple appetizers.Update: They added a veggie burger back to the menu, so I have amended their stars from 4 to 5.

What a great experience we had at quip’s. The food was incredible and they had a great selection of drinks. I couldn’t of asked for a better experience, from the friendly attentive wait staff to the welcoming deck out back. We will be back!

Very historical. Old tavern great selection of beer. Menu included some common Scottish dishes and typical pub fare. Food all seems to be loaded in oil. Good but not healthy for my gut!

The food and the quality of it is really more upscale than youd expect! Everything was delicious as well as great service!

Quips is the perfect neighborhood bar and restaurant. They have a great blend of regular standby apps and entrees alongside new menu items like my most recent meal, Mediterranean salad with garlic and butter shrimp, calamari, olives, feta and greens. Also great for just grabbing a cold beer too.

Absolutely delicious, however it is pricey. Menu has authentic flare and the food is as appealing to the eye as it is to the stomach.

Prior to living in Lancaster someone at a hotel that we were staying at recommended that we go to Quips Pub. Weve been hooked ever since. After many dinners 14 years later its maintained its excellent culinary delights. Having spent time abroad in England & Ireland were quite familiar with eating at the pub. Came to Lancaster for a little get away and stumbled on to this gem. If you have ever experienced a true pub inthe UK this is as close to it in the US I have found. The fish and chips are spot on. Had scotch eggs ad well who else does those. And the beer selection was awesomeand match that with excellent service and I want to give this place 10 🌟

First time there although 25 plus years ago used to drive by more frequently. Traditional English pub with a nice simple menu. Good beer selection including a draft cask beer under their own label. Good fish and chips served in a truly unique way. I imagine without the occupancy restrictions and much livelier and festive environment.

One of our favorite places to grab a bite or a drink (or both). Great atmosphere, even better service and very good specials. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

My wife and I love eating here. We have not been since covid, But were glad to come back and we were not disappointed. We each had fish served differently and some beers. All was very good and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We wanna comeback when weather gets warmer to try the deck area. I am still waiting for some beers from Wales !

Quips used to be genuinely great. Used to be my favorite place. But tonight, I had some of the worst service Ive ever had there. We all ordered drinks and they completely forgot two of my friends cocktails, didnt even bother to bring the beer flights or single pints out until after the appetizers came. Once the entrees came, we barely saw our server and had to flag him down to get our bill to leave.Nevertheless, the beer and drinks were great, the food is still wonderful. Just wish the service was better, because tonight was an embarrassment for Quips.

Went with a couple of friends months and months ago and loved it! Delicious food and drinks. Outdoor seating and following COVID precautions. The staff was friendly and the owner was lovely!! Thank you for such an awesome experience! Please come support this local small business!! They deserve it!

WOW! Great place to eat! Had the Bacon Cheddar Burger. Okay...I meant burgers. Because it was a double-patty burger. It was excellent! Big, juicy and cooked perfectly. And the fries were just as good.Nice & clean environement with very friendly servers. Will definately re-visit.

By far the greatest weird dining experience ever! The service was great, and attentive; they brought us blankets as we were dining out on a deck in chilly weather. Food was nice and hot, awesome ptater fries, no worries. Never had a meal quite like it (outdoors and chilly) but hey, it was worth it. And my wife and I were the only two people out on the deck. Great experience and a good way to celebrate my wifes retirement.

Excellent British pub experience: From British kitch on the walls to menus listing prices in £ instead of $ (no need to worry about the exchange rate) to authentic British fare. Customers were playing darts and other bar games. We found the staff courteous with relaxed service.The food was delicious and exactly what we were looking for. We were too busy eating to post food pictures.

Everything about the place is amazing. I get the fish and chips every time, the best fish Ive ever had. Smushy peas are fantastic, the best thing I never knew I needed. The customer service is superb. I have food allergies and the team has been so helpful about it all. Beer and cocktail list is great. Just go there.

Service was excellent! We ended up moving tables twice, and didnt feel bad for doing so thanks to the friendly staff. Large alcohol selection, focusing on UK beers, with some on draft and others bottled. Be sure to get the fish and chips! Fish was extremely crispy, light and soft. Highly recommend Quips Pub! They always have amazing food. It is a super chill place if you want to grab a drink as well. Staff always has been super nice and friendly! Fish tacos and whiskey parm butter fries are some our favorite things on the menu! Awesome!

Im sad about the rather poor experience I recently had at Quips. This was one of my favorite places in Lancaster, but this time around the drinks were watered down and somewhat tasteless while the meal came out cold. I understand that the coronapocalypse has made things challenging with respect to supplies, but Im not sure why this would lower the quality of food and drinks that are available...

I love the English pub atmosphere and decor of this place. Beer selection is fantastic, as there is a great European selection that you dont find everywhere. I went with a Rodenbach Grand Cru while perusing the menu, and had difficulty choosing what I wanted because several descriptions looked appetizing. I chose two of Quips staples...a 1/2 order of jumbo wings and the fish and chips. The wings have a nice crispiness, and although not the largest wings Ive ever seen, they certainly arent tiny either. The fish and chips come wrapped in newspaper and are a bit greasy, but have wonderful flavor. They come with three different dipping sauces, including one that is a thick concoction of mashed peas, that I assume is distinctly British. I washed all that down with an Old Speckled Hen on nitro that was extremely enjoyable and seemed appropriate with the fare.They dont have loud music here and the TVs are small. I love the fact that without those distractions, youre forced to socialize with the ones youre with. I highly recommend this place if youre looking for some good beer, comfort food, and a cozy atmosphere.

A step back in time .. English time. The scotch egg is a must try. Eat and repeat. The staff is attentive and give you a feel of a regular from the first time you walk thru the door. Miss this spot on your culinary travels, and miss a gem!

Very friendly and food is fresh. They follow good Covid protocols. However the food didnt seem as good as prior. Maybe a new cook? Would have expected a more british/Scottish taste but was more water down gravy for bangers and mash then I expected and compared to my work trips to England.

My wife an I really like Quips. Food has always been good and has a real pub feel to it. The food is always fresh and rotating with seasonal specials. I have been going to Quips on and off for about 20 years and have never eaten something I didnt want to eat again.

So sweet and endearing. The environment is lovely. Lots of things to look at and the food is reasonably priced. You get a lot. What mattered most to me and my roommate was we pointed out how were gluten free. The waitress gave us a gluten free menu that was like 98% identical to their normal menu. This place has taken the extra 2 steps to make their foods accessible. Most establishments may have very limited or no gluten free options. The waitress was super nice to us. Were hoping to return again soon!Update: Quips is definitely my roommates and my regular treat along with another British-inspired place in town. Its definitely become a favourite. Awesome every single time weve been there. 💙

First time visitors. Had fish & chips & a bitter. Really good fish & chips, even if portion size was a bit small for the price ($15). Chips were also good, but again small portion for the price. Beer selection is relatively good and bitters were good. Well go back, but not too frequently at their food prices.

The service is fantastic, its a neat cozy place! Foods great! Its an old time bar setting. My biggest issue with most restaurants is the location of the bathrooms! So unappealing having a bathroom next the table where your having your dinner. Not just the distraction being interrupted from the traffic but, what lingers.

Haven’t been here in a while but it was always a good time. I have never ate here just met up with people for drinks so I can’t say anything about the food. I’ve heard it’s good though, check it out for yourself when you’re in the area!

We had planned another restaurant, but they had just closed. Decided to try Quips, and we are so glad we did! The crab dip was the best, and weve tried many. The fish tacos were excellent as was The Dipper appetizer. The best past, though, was the people. Super wait staff and bartender. They were so friendly and welcoming! The orange crushes are delicious and the wings are some of the best in Lancaster. Recently visited during COVID and was very impressed with the service.

It was my first time at Quips pub. I really enjoyed the rustic pub setting. The service was good and the beers were great. I got a Union Jack IPA and it was great.The staff was friendly and the patrons as well. I will definitely be back at some point.

The service was outstanding. Both bartenders were very accommodating. Even the Doorman was very gracious as I entered the building. Awesome patio area out back as well. Unfortunately the Steelers were on the TV. Go Ravens

Weve driven by this place for years but never thought to stop in (Really didnt look like much). Turns out it was a fantastic English pub. Really, the food was excellent and authentic. Service was also great as our waitress made wonderful suggestions for our first time. In addition she brought us a complimentary large portion Sticky Toffee Pudding for our table of 4 to enjoy for dessert. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.
