We stopped here for Sunday brunch while visiting Lancaster. There was a short wait (at noon). This is a cute cafe with a nice vibe, friendly service, a good selection of entrees and sides, and patio seating. They very nicely accommodated our gluten and dairy allergies (and had no problems after dining). We parked on the street right in front. Many locals eat here and it is a popular venue. We realized we’d eaten here when visiting the area about 6 years ago and had a pleasant experience then too. Highly recommend.
In a COVID world this place brings the charm. My wife and I enjoyed Sunday breakfast here. They offer dining in their beautiful picturesque outdoor patio. Urban, artistic and quaint is how I would describe it. The food menu is limited but that is to be expected in todays world. Service was excellent and social distancing was definitely practiced. The food itself was good but lacked that extra wow factor. Overall, Id dine here again.
Beautiful local restaurant with delicious breakfast food. Strong recommendation if youre from out of town!
The restaurant itself is an interesting location given you have a main floor, a basement, then an outdoor area off the basement.Food was very good and the service staff exceptional.Highly recommended
Good food, good service. Love!!!
Great food. Wonderful atmosphere. Fabulous staff!
This place is absolutely perfect! From the Swedish pancakes, and chilaquiles, to the omelets. You cant go wrong with anything you order. The owner is so warm and welcoming, and her whole crew provides such an amazing experience. I highly recommend this place. 10/10
Delicious food and great service. Never had a dry cup of coffee or water the entire visit. Great specials as well.
I wasn’t wowed by this omelet special with sausage, nor the potatoes that weren’t soft enough inside or crispy enough outside...but the 7-grain oat bread from Central Market was delicious! The Swedish pancakes made of oatmeal soaked in buttermilk overnight was probably my favorite part of the meal though. Cute brunch spot and the wait wasn’t too bad on a Saturday during a holiday weekend.
Great feel at home food . Great people and good location.
One of the best breakfast/brunch places in town.Went with the Indian oamlet this time. Perfectly spicy!
Wow their Swedish waffle were epic..omelette made with local eggs taste so good…everyone enjoy all plates ordered.. friendly staff..only room for improvement is the coffee although coffee was good they should offer specialty coffee like lattes , cappuccino etc…will definitely return next time in Lancaster
My favorite breakfast place in Lancaster. Please never change
Best breakfast Ive had in Lancaster, PA. The swedish pancakes were perfect as was the warm cinnamon apples slices. The guerye and cheddar sandwich was superb as well
Wonderful menu, delicious food, inviting atmosphere and friendly owner and wait staff!
Always amazing food with matching service.
Always our go-to spot, consistent and charming. Love the staff and creative home style meals.
Have had nothing but very good experiences. Great to excellent service, delicious craft-diner food. I dont know how else to describe it. Listen for their specials. Worth a try. Also they have a downstairs and its really very nice. A local favorite.
They messed up my carry out order. When I called they made me bring it back to prove it. Then proceeded to argue with me about what I ordered.
Have been coming to this gem for years and staff has always been gracious no matter how busy! The swedish pancakes are on point too!!
My first visit here. My wife and I met friends here for breakfast, and I was impressed. My omelet was delicious. The atmosphere and wait staff were great. It was a gorgeous fall morning, so they had the front door open and that felt great. I liked that they served potatoes with tomatoes as an option. The toast had to have been homemade. Or fresh from a local bakery. It was excellent. My only recommend change would be that the coffee was a dark roast, which didnt seem to fit well with breakfast. Maybe that is just my personal preference. But I would think that the majority of people would prefer a medium roast. Overall, great experience and I will be back.
This is a quaint, eclectic place with exceptional food. The staff is personable and more than accommodating. If youre clostraphobic you may want to make sure you stay on the first floor. As the basement has tables and more room to accommodate more guests, there are a few tables that should not exist. I feel sitting under the stairs and next to the breaker box is pushing it a bit to far.
Had a great breakfast with a friend this morning at the downstairs seating. Really enjoyed the pace and the quiet atmosphere. Joan treated us very well and helped care for our meal with excellence. also a cook, Joan, took the time to explain all of the ingredients in the different items for my guest who had strict dietary concerns. Very knowledgeable, very good.
Im working in Quarryville from Portland Oregon for a couple of months. One thing about Portland is we have really good food that is hard to find in other parts of the country. On Orange stand up to anything in Portland I have had. The shrimp and grits this morning was great! And a good portion of shrimp! Theres nothing worse that ordering anything with shrimp and getting 3 or 4 shrimp. Good job On Orange!
Great breakfast
Party of two, I was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. Forty minutes later we were finally called. Famished, we ordered quickly, only to learn that some of the food we ordered they ”ran out of.” Our coffees were on the house, which we appreciated. However, unfortunately, regardless of the fact that they ran out of the food we ordered, we were still charged for all of it. Lastly, the food was mediocre at best. The Canadian bacon was inedible, and we left hungry. We ended up buying buttered rolls at the gas station across the street afterward. We can’t believe that this place has such a high rating. Our weekend experience in Lancaster was impeccable, with the exception of coming to this place. Our overall rating of this place is zero.
This is the best place in Lancaster for brunch. Ive enjoyed all of the meals that I have had. The pancakes (with a side of bacon) are delicious. The old standby always hits the spot. The coffee is fine, not great. Go with friends. Go to enjoy breakfast and read the paper. Just go and support this local establishment that looks to invest in the local area.
This was my first time eating here. Met some of my coworkers for breakfast. There were seven of us so it was a bit tight, but worked out fine. Food, coffee and service was all great! They have a good variety for everyone, including vegan. Prices are good and you are given a tasty Little Lagniappe at the end!
Went in today and we had vegan pancakes and vegan sausages. The food was good. The services was amazing! Joan and Evy were so great! They were fun, attentive, and quick. What a pleasant experience. 💞
In town for a wedding and ate breakfast here. Food was good, but honestly nothing you couldnt make yourself at home. Waited over an hour for our food because our waitress forgot to give the kitchen our order... she was very friendly and apologetic, and we really didnt have anywhere to be so it wasnt a big issue but, still a long time to wait for food. Cool atmosphere though. I would definitely give it another try.
This is a little hole in the wall place that my friend and I just stumbled into one Saturday morning on our way to market. We were so pleasantly surprised. The food was definitely fresh and very well prepared. My friend decided to try the oatmeal pancakes (something he had never had before), he said it was the best pancake he had ever eaten. I couldnt get over the quality of the food. Im not sure that it was organic, but it certainly seemed to be.
Little comfy cozy cafe. Breakfast was bomb dot com.
So this place is amazing. Cozy and inviting. The food was delicious. The stewed apples that come with the pancakes and waffles, crazy good. And if you order an omelet try the Indian omelet. Its pretty hot but so worth it.
Beautiful little place with amazing food and service. Definitely a must if want some great local choices and tasty choices for breakfast/lunch/brunch. Our server was very attentive, and the food was delicious!
Meal was good, we were seated in a timely manner, the bathrooms are not scary or smelly despite being jammed in a basement. Also, the website is better than the Bread Peddler next door, which also has off-puttingly salty food.
Small eatery but dont let that ve a deterrent as you will be completely satisfied. Staff is excellent and the food is exceptional. An important note...it cam be busy at times. But its worth the wait and youll even leave with lagniappe.
Came from NY and was looking for a great breakfast spot. The pancakes were delish! Service was top notch. Peaceful and warm atmosphere. Little cold temperature wise inside. Personal touch to the experience with the cookies home baked and given at check out. I saved this to my favorites list.
I had breakfast here with a friend on a Saturday morning. Knowing how busy it can get I arrived early to put in our name. We both enjoyed an omelette with potatoes and toast. My cheesesteak omelette was very tasty and my friend really enjoyed her vegetarian omelette. The 7 grain toast was delightful! Although packed the service was perfect! We enjoyed the little desert treat at the end!
Charming and cozy is the best description. The staff is friendly. Sitting in the front dining room you can see into the small kitchen. Anyone who eats out as much as I do will appreciate that. There is seating downstairs and a small patio. Order the tomatoes with the potatoes. You wont regret it.
On orange is one of my favorite places when I visit down to Lancaster. Always quality food and good service. Definitely recommend it
They get busy but has always been worth the wait. Delicious food and very nice staff. Huge portions.
Very good local cafe. We didnt realize that there was outdoor seating downstairs and out the back. I enjoyed the most unusual iced tea and last bites. Breakfast was very nicely done.
On Oranges mantra must be to only do a few things but do them well. The menu provides only about 8 options, so our group of 6 ordered about half the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal but pickier eaters might suffer from the lack of variety. The ambiance is that of a comfy cottage and the bathrooms in the basement are clean and better decorated than most. Street parking is available but not plentiful.
I had their special which was a meat loaf omelet. I really enjoyed it. My only minor complaint was that they had a spicy aioli on it that was over the top. The meat loaf and onions and cheese were plenty of flavors from the omelet. That spicy aioli would go great with a veggie omelet.Their 7 grain toast was nice heavy bread. Some of you may not like bread that dense but that is my favorite.I had a side of bacon and it was cooked perfectly. The fat on the bacon was cooked enough so that it wasnt chewy but the meat wasnt overdone and crunchy. Very good bacon. The service was excellent. Definitely recommend breakfast .
A cool historic house turned restaurant. The menu is small but the food options are all great and different from the boring norm. The staff are extremely friendly and provided some of the best service i have ever had. They also do a great job of turning over tables since seating is a bit limited. There is also a downstairs so dont be deterred if there is a line and all the tables upstairs are full. I highly recommend this place.
This is a gem of a restaurant....ONLY open for breakfast and lunch it has an amazing menu. If you are visiting downtown Lancaster, or if you live there, you must eat at ON ORANGE.
Fantastic food! Swedish pancakes w/stewed apples were delectable. About a 5-10 minute wait at 8:50 AM on a Saturday, and from arrival to departure we were only there 50 minutes. Grilled cheese was also gorgeous. We had a relatively unfussy infant and had no problems, either.
Great breakfast
The atmosphere and staff were great! Food was great also. I did not like the swedish waffle but that might have been because it was thinner than Im used to. The vegan sausage patties were delicious with a little kick to them and almost indistinguishable from regular beef or turkey sausage.
Best place in town for breakfast/brunch! Friendly servers, good food and a nice little complimentary treat at the end of the meal. Dont miss the Swedish pancakes or waffles! The steam table special is also worth a look - it changes weekly.
Wow what a find! Where to start? Fresh, yummy, large portion meals at reasonable prices. All super friendly from the hostess to the server. Located in a converted older row house the character of the place is awesome; seating is available first floor, downstairs and outside too! Atmosphere was like Park Slope Brooklyn. Looking forward to eating here again.
I love this place, its a weekly regular stop for me. Always a new breakfast special, and the the service is spectacular. The food is always fresh and you can typically be seated in under fifteen minutes. If nothing else, stop in and try and oatmeal pancake you really wont get anything like it anywhere else.
Love this place. Best breakfast in town and friendly, chill, attentive staff. Always interesting specials as well as classic, reliably delicious eggs n toast, potatoes, etc.
Very good breakfast. Unique options. Little treat at the end is great.
I’ve been coming to this spot for decades and it’s gone down hill. The only reason to eat here is for the “Swedes and Waffle”. Bacon is terrible...and now while you wait to be seating they want you to stand outside??? A/C is insufficient for the building, so if it’s hot or raining you’ll be miserable inside or out.
Amazing place for breakfast - we will definitely be back.
Always great food. And they have awesome employees
Sooooo goood!!! I have nothing bad to say about this place! They only have a few options and they do them really well! Our server was great too! Definitely try On Orange!
Great food, service, and prices. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. Good attention to detail and a friendly staff.
Delicious omlete. One of the best breakfast places in Lancaster. Always wonderful staff and waitertress.
Very good breakfast sandwich. A little pricey for what you get but great service and cozy atmosphere. Id give it 5 stars if price was better (Im only referring to the On Orange special sandwich price since thats all Ive had)
Very intimate atmosphere for sure. From what I could tell, the menu is intentionally limited to items that are healthy and delicious. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Glad I stumbled upon this place in downtown Lancaster.
This place masquerades as a quality restaurant but is actually just fancy diner food. It is over priced for the quality. The cream, jam, and butter all come in disposable packages. I think they gave me decaf iced coffee which was terrible, very weak and watery. I ended up with a massive caffeine withdrawal headache. The only upside is that the staff is warm and friendly. But I will not be going back.
Great menu, deviates from the usual you expect to see at every restaurant. Food and service was outstanding!! Atmosphere was warm, cozy, and inviting. A gem.
I recommend this place because it is the best toast I have ever had. If I can recommend to someone, Go here, and order the toast! you know its something special. Always a wait to get in for weekend brunch, everything on the menu is amazing.
Always look forward to the friendly faces and great service. The Steam Table special is usually worth a try!
Adorable, reasonably priced. Good pancakes.
We had a great experience with attentive staff that made delicious food
Not what I was expecting when On Orange was recommended, but so glad we went. The atmosphere was as eclectic as the menu making for a great experience. I tried the western, egg white, omelet and have not been able to get it out of my mind since. If you have the opportunity to try On Orange, go for it! You will not regret it.
We absolutely love this place. Weve been going for years. Great food, awesome atmosphere, many vegan options, love the breadclip art! Oh, awesome staff!
I never write reviews, but just had to for On Orange!! LOVED IT!! The pancakes were honestly the best I have ever had! My son had the omelette (sausage/cheddar) .... just amazing! Well worth visiting here!
Food was delicious, service was very friendly. Super cute little restaurant.
Fantastic food, great ambiance & friendly staff
Love On Orange! Always good, home cooked style food!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! I always get the swedish pancakes with the apples ob top (soooo good). The place has an airy, eclectic feel. The servers are always nice. I wish they had longer hours, but the food is worth getting up early! This spot is a great addition to Lancaster!
Such a cute place! I’m stingy with 5 stars because I have been to places that have blown me away. But my brother and I throughly enjoyed ourselves.
Top tier breakfast restaurant with especially creative omelette specials and legit swedish pancakes. Best pancakes in Lancaster. Check the hours before you make plans, they are only open Friday - Monday from 7am to 1pm.
4 stars for the atmosphere, 1 star for the most boring restaurant food Ive ever tasted. Honestly, I could have cooked something 10x as tasty at home. Potatoes and veggies in the omelette were undercooked and Im not sure anything was seasoned. Listen, I dont want to say it but imma just say it: the whitest white people food you will ever eat. 😂
Great breakfast there. So many good choices. Friendly service.
The food was delicious and the service was even better!!
Small little spot around down town, food was good and well prepared. My only complaints is how small it is and the fact I got served the SMALLEST cup of orange juice Ive ever seen in my life.
Food is excellent. Nice vegan choices. Wait too long for a table and once food is ordered it takes way too long to get the food.
Food is amazing, cute little brunch place thats good for all ages. I really wish I could make egged like they do. The go-to breakfast/brunch spot.
My wife and I ate breakfast here and everything was great. Arriving we were greeted by a huge line and had to wait about 30 mins for a table but we had no where to be. The food, service and people were all great. A very small spot but in a good way.
My first time here was amazing. We had breakfast. We must have been lucky and only waited 10mins for a seat for 4. As a vegan family the service was spot on. We loved our servers and will go back again. Pancakes, sausage, applesause yummm
