Russel is the name of the youngest sone of bangalis great leader bongobondhu sheikh Mujibur Rahman who was killed on Aug 15, 1975 along with others. This park was named so to honour Russel by local leaders after awameleague came into power. Before that it was a field of railway department. Its a park for the children but adults are also allowed. It has some rides that one can enjoy on payment.
