A research institute with extremly phsychological environment

One of the best research institute of University of the Punjab. Its offering M. Phis/ MS and Ph.D in biological sciences. Currently, 15 seats are available for M. Phis/ MS and Ph.D each. Its offering monthly stipend to students and requires to pass GRE Subject (international) for Ph.D.

Establishment of the School of Biological Sciences at the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan was conceptualized in 2002. Coincidently around the same time Dr Muhammd Akhtar, then the only FRS of Pakistani origin, had retired from Southampton University, UK, after an illustrious career. Mr. Akhtar Saeed, then Education Minister, Government of the Punjab, took an unprecedented personal initiative to pursue Dr. Akhtar to come to Lahore and contribute to a national cause. Thus started the Punjab Government-Punjab University joint project for the establishment of the School of Biological Sciences, subsequently approved by the University of the Punjab Syndicate, as a part of the university, within the provisions of the University of the Punjab.

The two storeys of these two buildings witness the research, education and learning venue under the leadership of Prof M.Akhtar (FRS UK), so far has been training so far about 100 PhDs from various multi disciplinary fields of studies including but not limited to Biotechnolology, MBBS, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Genetics and microbiology. (2002-2012). There has been enormous funding from HEC and other sources developing the descipline of biology through leaps and bounds. Despite pitfalls remain everywhere and so do surprises both good and bad will be there wait
