If you’re a history lover, then its a must place to visit when one is in Lahore. Though during my visit few of the sections were restricted but overall enjoyed my visit. The museum building itself is soo beautifully built that you can’t take your eyes off. The historical collection is also commendable. Entry fee is 50 per person and timings are 9 to 5 during summer

Visited this place recently and it was an amazing experience, entry tickets are affordable and for students, it only costs Rs-/20 (you have to show student ID as proof), the museum is well maintained and every gallery is worth watching and observing. Pictures and videos are allowed in the museum to take. Lahore Museum has different galleries which are dedicated to Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, musical instruments, old currencies, historical personalities of Pakistan, art and paintings, Quran calligraphy, and even more (I cant remember now). There is only one problem in the museum and that is its hot inside, only fans are operating but no proper air conditioning or airflow system. (Youll see two ACs in the coins gallery only).Visit this museum with friends or family or you can even go alone and find out about our history.

It is situated in walking distance from the metro station and can be easily accessed. It offers parking but is currently closed due to the present situations!Once you are inside the main gate you have to pass through temperature checking, ticket counter, sensitization point and boom, you are now surrounded by the historical, cultural, religious and memorable creations of different civilizations. The ticket costs,PKR-1000 for foreigners, PKR-50 for adults and PKR-20 for children and students. One thing to note that the Museum Library is also present inside the same boundaries, in the third floor of the auditorium to ve accurate and there is also a canteen there where you will find books, stationary, juice, cold drink and much more but in comparatively higher price than the surroundings.Talking about the Museum, it is blessed with a beautiful garden, full of vibrant flowers and eye-catching greenery. Inside, there are the following 14 sections/galleries which are active currently!1. Pre-Historic and Indus Valley Gallery2. Miniature Paintings Gallery3. Islamic Gallery4. I visited the Lahore Museum twice, and it has always amazed me. The important thing about this is, that you find an extensive information on every aspect. For example: A whole gallary is dedicated to Indus Civilization ( Mohenjo Daro, Harappa artifacts).Another gallery is home to Persian arts and crafts. The most important and versatile is its armory collection. Which makes you wonder the art of warfare.A corridor is beautifully decorated with miniature paintings of Indian folk and religious tales. The Sikh regimes history has also been preserved with a quite great care.It has a wide collection of Buddhist art and history.Together with history, it is also home to the Art of Pakistan. With the ceiling Mural by Sadequain and Many other notable artists. Moreover, the coin collection here is absolutely fantastic, tracing back to 500 Bc in Indus valley. The section reserved for Pakistan is also a great subject to study with its historic photographs, letters and newspaper collections. To conclude, it is a great place to visit, whether youre a Historian or an Artist. or simply a curious person. Moreover, the staff, cleanliness, ventilation is absolutely finely. One more interesting thing about this museum is its building architecture designed by late Sir Ganga Ram.Moreover, it is on the prime Location of Mall RoadPro tip: After visiting the museum, dont forget to take a tea ☕ at Pak tea House just around the corner. It is the den of Pakistani Literature ( Faiz, Munto, Faraz)

Very interesting place! There was a lot of stuff to see, different cultures, different eras, the contribution from everywhere into Pakistan and specifically into Lahore. Very informative and very interesting museum. The place is well maintained though its rather dimly lit. The one issue I had was that the different exhibits (arranged by culture) were not clearly chronological. It was hard to tell what came first, what came during each other, and what was the last thing before Lahore as we see it today. However, the building and its exhibits are certainly nice. The gift shop outside was a bit more generic and it would have been nice to care to the audience a bit and sell things more relevant to history, or recreations of pieces inside.

Review №36

Great museum with an extensive collection. Super clean, lots of employees in every wing, admission is cheap (Rs 50 for adults, cheaper for kids and students, although the prices for foreigners are comparatively high- around $6 USD/Rs 1000). The building itself has some interesting history, and its Indo-Saracenic architectural style is quite beautiful.Collections are mainly centered around South Asian/regional history, and specifically Islamic South Asian history. Currently two exhibits (the prehistory of the region exhibit, and the Sikh exhibit) are closed, Im assuming for renovation. The only complaint I would have is that the lighting in some exhibits or in certain display cases was lacking. Whether it was because of a dead lightbulb, or because of no light bulbs at all, a couple parts of the museum/display cases were excessively dim. Also the adjacent gift shop and book store feel more like overpriced Pakistani bazaar stores where theyll probably try and overcharge you if youre clearly a foreigner, instead of it feeling like a proper museum-affiliated store with high standards and fixed reasonable prices. So a warning to foreigners who want to get some cultural souvenirs: dont let them overcharge you, dont be afraid to haggle a bit, and dont be afraid to walk out with nothing. You can always find somewhere cheaper elsewhere in the city anyways.Other than that, it was a wonderful and pretty museum with an extensive collection and clean, well kept grounds and gardens.

The ceiling of the entrance hall features a large mural by renowned Pakistani artist Sadequain who originally made the mural in 1972 and 1973.The museum also contains fine specimens of Mughal and Sikh carved woodwork and has a large collection of paintings dating back to the British period.
