Located at the southern end of mittai street. This was my second visit to buy halwa. They had a good collection of various flavoured halwas including the original red and black ones. The original flavours are really good. Other good ones are the coconut flavoured, rice , chilly etc.

Bought halwas of tender coconut, traditional black and red, and chilli green after reading the reviews. They were good. Tender coconut halwa tend to change taste after one or two days, so buy in limited quantity. Liked the red traditional halwa the most.

Its one of the oldest and most popular shop in SM Street ( മിഠായി തെരുവ്). If you want to get traditional kozhikode halwa this is one of the places to go. They have wide varieties available there. The SM Street has been renovated recently. It looks much better now.

Kozhicode is famous for halwa and I found extra ordinary croud inside this small shop. 1 kg Halwa cost around 300INR.Also you can buy a mix of all flavours for the same price. You have to gonby walk. Vehicles are restricted in the street.

The original Sankaran bakery currently has a blue coloured board and looks bigger than the duplicate one . They have awesome bakery items with best halwa and banana chips in Town. They still have traditional looking shop with ever smiling and friendly people. Definitely recommended place for all. Its absolutely amazing that they have been around for a 100 years now and still going strong. 5 star rating

This place might lead to the movie charlie and the halwa factory. This would be the best compliment i can give them. Many who tasted their halwa from me admitted that it was better than their competitors. Some have started their business with same name as theirs. Better navigate yourself with google. Its not easy to get passed the other bakers who are literally ready to kidnap you into their shops. Btw you can try other bakers who have other varieties one like lakshadweep halwa which looks like wrapped chocolate.

Shankaran Bakery started 90 years back. It is situated at the entrance of S M Street. Shankaran Bakery justified the name to Sweet Meat Street. It was all sweets there. During Deepavali in earlier years they used deliver sweets in bamboo baskets known as Kotta . Every sweet in the basket had a distinct smell. Mysore Pak Jilebi and different coloured Halwas all were a real treat to the taste buds. The roasted Cashew at the bakery is awesome. The shop has a special board saying they have no branches. Unfortunately another shop in the name of Shankaran Bakery has popped up just opposite side of the bakery.

One of the oldest bakeries in the SM street. The halwa from here is very famous. There are many shops similar to its name but always go for this shop and others all started later. This shop is almost at the end of the Street and as the Street doesnt allow vehicles to enter you will have to walk some distance to reach the shop.
