Good place and great ambiance. It has good quality food. Besides, the place is also good for hookah, which many people were smoking. The price is a bit high but given the ambiance, it is acceptable. On saturday and Sunday , the music is high and the place is very vibrant.

Had to wait for 15minutes because the place was crowded. The place is pretty big, well decorated, trendy and sitting arrangements are well distributed. The crowd is definitely young. This retro is multi Asian cuisine, so had the options to choose from Japanese, Tibetan, Thai, Korean. We ordered from Japanese, Tibetan and Korean. There were also tandoor options, but we didnt want to try things which was widely available in other retros. They have contactless delivery service. This place has huge drinks collection and I mean fricking huge. We stuck to food only though, because we wanted to try various things. Service time wasnt long and stuff was friendly who explained well when we had some questions about some items. Definitely recommend Chasu Bao, Bolgogi and cheesecake among the menu. Loved all the food and vibe too. This place is very trendy among the young crowd. Will visit again for different items next time for sure.

Hands down it is one of the best places to have a good Japanese meal in the city. The Fatty Bao has quickly caught up with the food lovers in Kolkata. A modern oriental ambience with beautiful paper lanterns strung up origami, a glass facade overlooking the city structures; it is an idyllic setting for a dining experience. Perfectly rolled up sushi, soft bao with brilliant fillings, ramen bowls, delicate dimsums, refreshing salads; the menu is pleasing to all. Mouthwatering japanese style feeling you can enjoy

This place has a soothing ambience. The interior is of soft decor, it also has a bar. They have amazing menu with all kinds of Asian food. I ordered their mozzarella sticks, a beverage, soupy noodles, dumplings, bao and somekind of papad. The food was great. The food was smoking hot and tasty. I mean the decor was simple yet catchy. I liked it very much. It was a great experience. It is highly recommended. I am sure I am visiting again.#Mou

We were just there for lunch. I liked the food, but it was way too salty for my taste..we drank Virgin Mangaa and Rasam Mary, for appetizers we had dim sums (prawn and chicken) and Baked fish (which is took too long to arrive, tasted good but salty) and Mee Goreng with Chicken Katsu (which tasted okay and too salty). There was Sambal and Kimchi with the Baked fish and the Sambal didnt taste like the usual south east asian Sambal but it was good. The ambience is great and if you can get seated by the window you will have a beautiful view of the city (Victoria Memorial and 2nd Hooghly Bridge and others). There is some outdoor seating available with an awning if youre interested in smoking or just to enjoy the fresh air. Today being a hot day we sat inside. I ended the meal with a Japanese Cheesecake which was served with a berry compote, crumbs and ice cream and it was good. Good cheesecakes are rare in the city and good jiggly Japanese Cheesecakes are rarer. I wouldnt say this was great but I wouldnt complain either. Overall it was a good relaxing lunch for us. Id recommend the place (just ask them to go low on salt :P)

It was an amazing experience. But I was a bit saddened with the fact that Fatty Bao merged itself with Monkey Bar and I couldnt see the lanterns and the pretty Japanese decor I have always seen and wanted to relive in the pictures. But everything was amazing, the view of the Kolkata skyline with 42 and Victoria side by side was a treat to see. The decor is very hip, like any bar nowadays. The food was beyond amazing, pricey as heck but foodgasmic. We ordered the Char Siu Bao which had pork belly fried so beautifully that we could taste the crispy belly fat which was paired so so well with their homemade BBQ sauce and these pieces of succulent pork meat were wrapped perfectly between an extremely soft bao. It was like heaven on a plate. Then we ordered a plate of Chicken with Aji Amarillo which was presented very prettily and tasted very unique - everything went well with each other and with the dips. Then we ordered the Chasu Ramen which is undoubtedly the best bowl of ramen I have had in this city. The braised pork belly was still crackling and the broth had just the right amount of sweet and saltiness and it was very very rich.We ended our meal with an amazing plate of japanese cheesecake which I fell in love with. It was jiggly, it was cold and it had the refreshing cheesecake flavour and it tasted oh so good with the vanilla bean ice cream and the pistachio crumble and the cherry compote ❤❤Everything was *chefs kiss*Will definitely visit this place again when I save up enough money🥺

After keeping The Fatty Bao in the list for quite some time, we finally decided to pay s visit. Overall I would say it was a good experience. The ambience is good ( its actually monkey bar and fatty bao together combined ). The service was okay ( service time was a tad longer than expected ) , but based on that the quality of food was good. We had the following items :Sushi1. Crab Meat & Tobiko ( 4 / 5 ) : Nice sushi.2. Prawn Tempura ( 5 / 5 ) : Highly recommended. The Sushis were really good but the portion could hv been more considering the high price.Bao1. Char Siu ( 4 / 5 ) : They serve 2 baos on a platter. The pork is super delicious , the bbq sauce was spot on, the scallion toppings were good. Highly recommended.Ramen1. Chasu Ramen ( 4 / 5 ) : Probably the best of the lot. Good porky broth with big juicy chasu pork slices. The soft boiled egg was nice. The only thing to complain was thar the noodles were ordinary , didnt soak up thar broth.2. Tantanmen ( 4 / 5 ) : This is a not a bad choice but frankly this is almost exactly the Chasu Ramen with a spicier broth. Everything is almost the same. The spiced pork mince was so less thar it was dissapointing. The noodles were same as chasu.3. Seafood Tempura Udon ( 3 / 5 ) : This was an utter dissapointing bowl of noodles. The broth as described in the menu card ( basil , lemongrass , fish , prawn ) was not thar delicious. It was plain. The udon noodles were okay. The fried prawn tempura were added as sides . The only good thing abt the dish was when the fries were soaked in the broth. Will recommend to skip this item.Overall The Fatty Bao is a good option to fulfill your asian fantasies.

The Covid 19 and Covid 19 imposed lockdowns have stripped us of many beautiful eateries around. Sadly the Fatty Bao is no different. They have merged there kitchen with the Monkey Bar and operating as one entity. So what does it mean for a normal people like us. Well to start with, the food doesnt taste the same anymore. They are still serving the fatty bao menu but it somehow misses a note and as a result the experience is not as melodious as before. I have certainly missed the view and the iconic lantern adorned interior for sure.Dont get me wrong. The food is still good. One of the best Ramen and Bao money can offer you in the city but some how it wasnt The Fatty Bao good.P.S. The order in my image was from takeaway as the place was a bit crowded on our last visit to dine in.

I had booked my table via dineout and the host informed me that we were still on the waitlist inspite of the booking being confirmed on the app. Please rename of add “closed” to the fatty bao in Google or SOMEWHERE. They have everything from chicken to seafood and in between.Their starters may look small but have so many in numbers that I was stuffed by eating them only and barely touched my main course.i had skipped my breakfast and was starving by the time I was ordering.Special mention to my server Mr D.Roy and waiter Litan who were not only filled with humour but really took care of me as their own. Will go their again if the opportunity arises.A fair warning though dont order the brunch menu if you are dining alone. The plate may look small but will keep piling on you.

This Asian restaurant in Camac Street has already taken over the town with their gorgeous and absolutely drool-worthy Asian food. With a fairly nice ambience they also offer a wide range of asian dishes and specially sushis. Also selecting the perfect sushi for yourself is kind of a tough job as well, you have to be very particular about the dipping sauce because you might just end up having a bad sushi experience. Also, the restaurant should take special care of the fact that the majority out there will be very confused regarding what to try when there and keep their staff trained accordingly. Now coming to Fatty baos one of the impressive features, they provide Weekday lunch boxes available in veg and non-veg variants which includes-- 1 sushi/dimsum plate+ 1 bao/starters+ 1 main course along with complimentary jasmine rice/ garlic fried rice/ steamed rice+ 1 dessert. It was definitely a mixed experience and for the entire review visit my Zomato page @thegirlacrossthetable.

Located on the 8th Floor of Fort Knox Building in Camac Street, The Fatty Bao finally opens its door for the people of Kolkata. I and a friend of mine were present on the opening day on 4th of December , and was welcomed on a warm note. The restuarant boasts of Asian Cuisine .WHAT I ORDERED :1. FRIED FISH BAO : The tempura Bhetki with siracha mayonnaise and pickled cucumber , blended inside a bao ,tasted quite good. Wont say it was the best , but good .2.PRAWN & GARLIC CHIVE : Basically prawn dimsums, well these tasted quite good , so you can actually order one of these dishes.3.EXOTIC MUSHROOM RAMEN : Well, I was very dissapointed with the Ramen. Though it says mushroom ramen, the signs of mushroom in it was kinda negligible. I would request the management ,if you are saying mushroom ramen, then the quantity of Ramen in it should be given appropriately for the amount you charge. Not worth it .4.FIZZY PEACHED ICE TEA : Well , It was another okayish mocktail for me. Not that worth the price they charge .5. SAKURA SAKURA : Well ,hands down to the best mocktail Ive had in the recent times. Grape juice concentrate was blended quite well. Do order. Must try .6.BEEF BULLGOGI : Karashi mayo, cabbage slaw and onion jam with beef mixed together inside the bao. It tasted quite well . Do order7.JAPANESE CHEESECAKE : This is a star dessert from this place. Served with vanilla bean icecream and sour cherries ,the cheesecake was pillowy soft and tasted amazing. Do try.Must orderWe were also given a extra gesture item because we went on its opening day. I would say to improve the quality of food Fatty bao serves, because it was not worth 2800INR . The ambience is top notch ,staff was courteous, and overall It was a mixed experience.

Went there to celebrate my birthday & i was not disappointed. Expensive no doubt, with the served portions really small. However, the taste is really great, almost worth it. Add to that a live DJ, beautiful ambience, & a fantastic view of kolkata, specially the victoria memorial. Now the food, after going thru a lot of reviews, ordered the highest rated ones - crab meat & tobiko sushi, grilled samble chicken & char siu baos, kam heong calamari and of course the 2 starred gems - the fatty bao pb&j & the coco caramel.Needless to say, i was in the ninth heaven 😁.Now the drinks - very expensive, though the wine collection is topnotch. I was a little disappointed with the cocktails, as per the reviews & the prices, expected a little more flavor, but they are good no doubt, specially the elixir bottle cocktail (comes in a 160ml small bottle)The service is exemplary, all the waiters & servers were extremely polite & well mannered, absolutely no issues there.Overall, enjoyed a very good evening, & returned with some expensive & precious memories - thank you Fatty Bao.

The service right from when they greet you at the gate till when you leave is very warm. The place has a quaint nice feel to it done to the theme of the food. Coming to the good, please try the baos with two portions. They are an absolute treat. We had the char siu imported pork belly bao. This was the best of the lot. Sweetness of the bread coupled with the savoury of the pork was a delight. Next we had the Chinese chorizo, bacon and egg shegjian bao, chicken and asparagus dimsum, three cup chicken and chasu ramen soupy noodles. We had better expectations from the dimsum. Three cup chicken was a treat.Last, but not the last we had cocoa caramel for dessert. This was suggested by a friend and it didnt disappoint.Thank you for the awesome service. Nice warm and cozy place. Reasonable price, good food and nice ambience. Can definitely take your gf/bf for good time.

Never had anything as tasty as ramaen and bao. Loved every dishes we ordered, but its a bit costly. Still its worth a try, as you wont regret about the money once you taste the food
