Very old bar. Started before independence. The prices are quite low in comparison with other bars. Service is extremely prompt. There are a few snacks items available. Previously it was quite congested with approximately 300+ seats. Due to pandemic nowadays its almost half that number which makes customers quite comfortable. Very popular with nearby office people. Overall a nice place to down a few pegs without much pressure on the purse.

An old school haunt, this bar/pub is a milieu of all things Calcutta. A no frills haunt, the bar comes more importantly with the most pocket friendly drinks in town, on the run snacks comprising fish fingers to fruit chaats - also at rock bottom prices and loads of interesting conversations floating around. Sadly, its a men only bar and it allows table sharing and a secret smoking area in the loo. Do go for it!

You will need to share your table with random strangers, if you manage to find an empty spot. The average pubber here is 45+ and open to random drunken conversations.They dont serve food but outside vendors will come and ask for orders and get your fix. From cheese cubes to chili fish to sliced guavas to maach vaja, you get everything.Few things to keep in mind, the place is always crowded, you need to be (or look) above 26 to get a seat, you will be denied a seat if you dont drink even if the rest in your group is drinking, you will need to pay as you order before the alcohol arrives at the table, only males are entertained.Must visit. An old calcutta institution. They dont make em like these anymore.

Nice place to hangout with friends. Drinks are inexpensive but you have to pay in advance for drinks. All transactions are to be done in cash. Snacks are also available for very reasonable prices. The place is air conditioned but crowded and noisy.

Wonderful place where alcoholic drinks are served at very cheap price. Talking about food (Chakhna) which is served along with drinks are of wonderful quality and amazing taste and there are so many varieties and too so much cheaper. This place can be found very easily and its located in the heart of Kolkata which is Esplanade, also called Dharmatala (as told by locals). If someone wants to stay here, that facility is also available here. For the people who love to smoke along with drinks, they can go outside the bar and smoke there as Smoking is not allowed inside the bar (washroom is exception). Nearest metro station is Esplanade. Nearest bus stop is Chowringhee. The bar is open on all days from 11am - 10pm.

Like many many kolkatans, I too have affectionate memories of this prehistoric joint since the 70s. Visiting after a decade or more, the place appeared to be neater, smarter than before and its no-frill demeanour held the same attraction as ever.

Well this place is one of the wonders of City Of Joy, those who are found of drinking must visit this place, its not a bar or pub, its different. Very very reasonable rates which you wont believe if youre first timer, its almost packed all the time and meant only for MEN i mean it, not for kids, young boys and females.

Its a bar where the waiters serve you drinks after you pay. The prices are low compared to other bars. The finger foods to go with drinks are sold on cash basis. Always crowded but hassle free. Be prepared to share your table with strangers. Dont go there if you have anything other than booze on your mind. The ac works perfectly. The toilets are clean. No ladies and no shorts allowed.
