Graduation, Post Graduation, B.ed, PhD degree are all available here.Also, this is the second best place (after Visva Bharati University) to learn Music, Fine Arts, Dance and etc. University campus has a pleasant view. No political pressure on students(so far). Teachers of all departments are all very helpful. University canteen provides good food with affordable price.This year due to Covid situation University is conducting online classes and examinations.

Im not a student here, but the campus is very beautiful. Came here for work, and people are very nice and helpful. The ambiance is very good. Its a University dedicated to Arts subjects. The lake is a vital part of the campus, adding to its beauty. Canteens are fine.

This University is mostly popular for arts & literature. Rabindra Bharati University offers courses of foreign languages such as Chinese, French, Spanish. Campus is really beautiful. Cultural music & dance programs take place on special occasions.

Went for celebrating Bosonto Utsab. One can see colors of Bengali culture with colors of Love, fun & madness. Other than this, the university is quite big. It offers Certificate courses, Diploma courses, Undergraduate Degree Courses, Postgraduate Degree Courses, Research/Doctoral-Level Courses and Distance Courses.

Well I was a student of Masters in this University. My experience is not good in the University and after completion of my degree is I also found that teachers are not helpful for their ex students

I have spent two amazing years of my life here. I was a student of Mass Communication. So I spent most of the time in Ramanujan Bhavan only. The Library is pretty big, but I didnt use it while I was there. If you are a bookworm, you must check it out.They have a huge ground inside the campus, where you can play football or cricket during your off periods. Theres also a badminton court inside the Ramanujan Bhavan. They also have four canteens in the campus, where they serve fresh food every day.

It is a State University named after Tagore dedicated to the mission of disseminating his thoughts and ideas through humanities, social sciences, art and culture. The University features uniqueness in projecting itself as a centre for higher learning in performing arts, fine arts, language, literature and social sciences. It has been offering a variety of other courses to cater to the demands of the emerging academics-market interface for instance, foreign language courses are offered by the School of Languages and Culture. It also offers training courses in competitive examinations including NET and SET. It is unique educational institution of higher learning that caters to the students of the peripheries of West Bengal Girls and boys from far-flung areas of the state and from backward strata of the society as well as international students ranging from Europe to Asia, who come, either through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), or on their own, to learn mainly Indian art and culture and to acquire a degree in academics underpinned by Tagores philosophy.

This is the worst university Ive encountered in my whole life. We stay in Sonarpur and its really troublesome to attend the university by travelling around 30 kms everyday. Hence, I decided that, Calcutta University is a better choice for daily commuting for my wife. Fortunately, she has got admitted in Calcutta University and we had to collect the Transfer Certificate from Rabindra Bharati University as she was admitted there for 5 days only. Lets explain the entire story how miserable our experiences are.To cancel the admission, we had to collect the signature over the application for Transfer Certificate we wrote. The signing authority is the Secretary of the Faculty Councils, Shri Syam Sundar Chakrabortti. We were waiting for almost 2.5 hours in front of his office just to collect a signature. Conversations with the staffs in front of his office are written below:(At 01:30 PM)- May I come in Sir?- No!(At 02:30 PM)- May I come in Sir?- No! Cant you see that, we are busy now?(They were eating puffed rice together and laughing loudly)(At 03:30 PM)- May I come in Sir?- Whats the matter? (Now theyve finished eating puffed rice)- I would like to cancel my admission. This is the application on which the Secretarys signature is required.- Sir is in a meeting. Wait outside. (No term used viz. Please)(At 03:55 PM)- Has he arrived sir?- Yes. Please go in.(The job was done in 30 seconds)(At 03:59 PM)We had to go to the cash counter to deposit Rs. 100/- for this purpose. We were rushing to the counter as it gets closed at 04:00 PM. We saw that it was closed. We have to visit again the next day!(The next day. I was unable to come with my wife due to my office. My father of age 63+ went with her)(At 12:30 PM)She and my father went to deposit the money on the same counter which were shut before the scheduled time. When she was in the queue, my father also went inside in front of the counter. Then some of the wonderful officers(?) scolded my father because he was in front of the cash counter! How crazy! They cant even arrange a seat for an aged person (elaborated later), they are building the nation by providing education services!My father went outside and was standing in scorching heat!The attendant on the counter then asked, where is the Library Clearance Documents? No one in the Faculty Councils office told her to get these documents before going to the cash counter. This place is nothing but filled with misguiding jerks! She had to go to the library then. The person in the library was worse than them. When the signature was done from there, she just asked the librarian, where is the Departmental Library? He replied, So long you are attending classes, dont you know where the departmental library is? He possibly didnt see the admission date which was only 5 days earlier! Finally, someone else who was from a civilised family, provided the direction to her. The madam who was in the departmental library was also good who instantly did her job.When she visited the cash counter again, she was to fill up a form. There was two seats where my wife and my father sat to fill it up. Someone from a very uncivilised family arrived, and told the aged person to leave the place! My father went outside and was fell down due to such tiresome situation. Then someone also said him to go out from the building and stand in the scorching heat! Are these people human?As per my definition, these people dont even belong to a civilised society. They can say Rabindranaths poems while drinking wine in their homes, but they dont know how to respect aged persons.Dont study in this university! I really doubt the quality of education this institute provides. WORST EXPERIENCES!

Rabindra Bharati University, was founded on May 8, 1962 under the Rabindra Bharati Act to mark the birth centenary of poet Rabindranath Tagore at his residential house at Calcutta for the advancement of learning and culture particularly in the branches of music, dance and drama. Assent of the President of India to the Rabindra Bharati Act passed by the Legislature of West Bengal, was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extra ordinary, of the 10th January, 1962. After the death of Rabindranath Tagore, the house belonging to Gaganendranath Tagore and Abanindranath Tagore on the south-west side of the main building was purchased by a private party.Late Suresh Chandra Majumdar on behalf of Rabindra Bharati Society collected from public around Rs. 15 Lakhs and part of the money was paid to the private party to acquire the property as stated above. In the meanwhile the private party went to the High Court for enhancement of the award and the party was given additional award of Rs. 3 Lakhs by the court. As Suresh Chandra Majumdar was facing severe fund crisis, he asked the West Bengal Government to release suitable grant. An agreement was signed between the Government and Rabindra Bharati Society and as a condition of the grant, the Government was given the right to use Rabindra Bharati property for use of its proposed Dance, Drama and Music Institute. Accordingly, the Institute, namely West Bengal State Akademy of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts (present name) was established in 1955. Uday Shankar, Ahindra Chowdhury and Ramesh Banerjee were put in charge of Dance, Drama and Music respectively.Uday Shankar subsequently left the Institute. In 1959, it was felt that the Government of West Bengal would establish a University as a memorial to Rabindranath. Since the original purpose of Rabindra Bharati Society was also the development Dance, Drama and Music, the general body of the Rabindra Bharati Society met and agreed that it should be merged with proposed university. The Government of West Bengal was further contemplating to celebrate birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore. The Government thought that the best way to perpetuate the memory of Rabindranath tagore would be to acquire the family dwellings and utilize them for the purpose of establishing a university and persuaded Rathindranath Tagore to hand over the buildings including the room where Rabindranath Tagore breathed his last.
