Pirbaba Majar near Agarpara Rail station is a very revered and holy place. It also has an interesting history. It is said that about 300 years ago, a Pir named Tara Shah founded a mosque near Agarpara Station. He was a follower of the famous Sufi Pir of the Turk-Afgan era, Mohiuddin Kader Jilani Chistia. There is a Samadhi of Tara Shah inside. This place, adjacent to Agarpara Rail station is now known as Tarapukur. Every year a fair called ‘Murgir Mela’ occurs at this place. Pirbaba Majar is at a walking distance from Agarpara Rail station. To get here from B.T. Road, one must avail an auto or rickshaw to station from Tetultala bus stand.
Pirbaba Majar is the ancient worship place which is even a place of attraction for all people irrespective of their community & religious beliefs.
