Dakhineshwar Ganga Ghat is perhaps the most famous Ghat in Kolkata, and that is for many reasons. People come here from all over the world to take a holy dip in the divine river which is right next to the Dakhineshwar Kali Temple. You get to experience so much positive vibration and dynamism in the events and activities by just standing on the ghat and observing them around you- feeling the powerful, divine energy and the tranquillity of the river Ganga at the same time. There is a bridge called the Vivekananda Setu (Bally Bridge) on the left, where you can observe the beautiful sight of trains and vehicles, too. You can also enjoy a boat ride across the river to reach some popular destinations like the Belur Math and Adyapeeth. It is simply an incredible experience to be here and just observe, feel the energy.
There are almost 100 ghats—places with steps leading down to the water—along the holy Ganges River (Hoogly River) in Kolkata, The main group contains around 25 of them, and it extends from Dassi Ghat north to Raj Ghat. The ghats date back to the 14th century but most were rebuilt, along with Rani Rashmoni , in the 18th century by Bengalee rulers. They are either privately owned or have special significance in Hindu mythology, and are primarily used for bathing and Hindu religious rituals. However, there are two ghats (Rashmoni and main temple ghat) where cremations are solely performed.A highly recommended, albeit touristy, thing to do is take a dawn boat ride along the river from Rashmoni ghat Ghat (the main ghat). A walk along the Dakhineahwar ghats is also a fascinating experience, although do be prepared for some filth and to be hassled by vendors. If youre feeling a bit daunted and would prefer to be accompanied by a guide, go on this riverside walking tour offered by Dakhineahwar Magic.
This is a great place and an great zone to have a peaceful mind..... The magnificent site of the Bali bridge across the river Ganga will pleasent your eyes and heart..... The mild breezes and the cold water of the holy ganges is enough to make your evening into a good one... There are seats beside the ghat there also you can enjoy..... After you finish your visits to Maa Kali then this is a great place to enjoy the rest of the day/evening...
Situated beside the holy river ganges.ive spent so much time there with my friends and girlfriend.ferry services are also available here.have cup of tea & cigarette and hangout with friends.there are countless hotels & restaurants available here.many vendors will try to take extra price for many things. dont hesitate to bargain, bargain with them as good as you can.
It is a peaceful place amidst the bustling environment outside. It is usuallly crowded all the time. There are benches inside by the river bank to sit and relax. The view is magnificient, combined with the railway bridge crossing the river. You can feel the vibrations as the train passes over the bridge. The ghats are also an ideal place to sit and relax.
Beautiful place. Can see boats and bridge and river. Feel the cool breeze. Just wow .
Nice and holy place. Many people used to sit at this place to watch the serenity of river Ganga. You will have your body, mind and soul soothed if you be here for sometime. This is a must visit place if you have come to see Dakshineswar Kali Temple. Vivekananda Setu is also visible from this location. It looks pretty nice from here particularly at night time.
Kalis earliest appearance is that of a destroyer of evil forces. She is the goddess of one of the four subcategories of the Kulamārga, a category of tantric Saivism. Over time, she has been worshipped by devotional movements and tantric sects variously as the Divine Mother, Mother of the Universe, Adi Shakti, or Adi Parashakti. Shakta Hindu and Tantric sects additionally worship her as the ultimate reality or Brahman.[6] She is also seen as divine protector and the one who bestows moksha, or liberation. Kali is often portrayed standing or dancing on her consort, the Hindu god Shiva, who lies calm and prostrate beneath her. Kali is worshipped by Hindus throughout India especially in Kolkata and suburbs

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu navaratna temple located at Dakshineswar. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali, meaning, She who liberates Her devotees from the ocean of existence i.e. Saṃsāra.The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a philanthropist and a devotee of Kali.
