It is a very old theatre perfoming hall. Green Room facility is not so good. Otherwise it is good. Still more renovation is required.

One of the oldest theatre premises in Kolkata. Still holds a lot of shows every week. Infrastructure is average, that can be developed with proper maintenance. Location of this hall is very good and easily commutable.

Very good. I am fascinated by their behavior. Because when we were all entering the hall, I saw that the officials of the hall are sanitizing the hands of every human being. I like it.

Though I have given a review about the place, but I am reviewing this place again as google have given me the opportunity. The hall bears a shabby look and the air conditioning system is not good. I enquired from a close source to know that the rent of the hall is rs. 7000 to 10000 depending on weekends or weekdays for the 6 pm to 10 pm slot. As you can see from the pictures that the condition of chairs are not so well. However the light and sound system are satisfactory.

The place was good. Big halls, working ACs and most importantly clean bathrooms

I dont know whether the place holds some deep history but when I went for the theater for a play, I found it small, shabby, seats not so well and neither comfortable. Although lighting and construction was good as visual was good and audio was visible of artists. Condition of washroom was pathetic, not at all maintained. Very near to Kalighat Metro Station.

Location of the place is great. But the infrastructure is not maintained properly. But we cant really blame the administration there for that. If we dont buy enough tickets, promote and celebrate Bengali theatre more then how can we expect the infrastructure to be good.

An old property with economic price.But the hall is not in good shape. Extremely small seats with quick-fix settings.The AC is working but dont know how it works in a full capacity in a hot summer evening.A little bit work on the seats and structure will make a big difference.

Awesome place for cultural events

Once upon a time this theatre became a house hold name because of the play Nahabat. Now a days no big production is held here, small time plays and theatres are held. Also used for official gatherings, briefings. Acoustic is manageable...it is a so so low cost venue. Location is an advantage

It is a nice feeling to be at a theatre h all as I am a drama lover.Tapan Theatre is no exception, I frequently go there to witness dramas of diff.groups from Kolkata,West Bengal to Bangla Desh which is really a heart touching experience.Long live theatre .

One of the oldest theater hall in kolkata. Now its a nightmare for theater worker.No modern equipment relating to theater like sound, light or a.c. system is found. Chairs are so bad that you cant seat properly.

This is one of my favorite Theatre in Kolkata. The place is not so big but the sitting arrengement is very good. Have a very good air conditioning system. The sound quality of the auditorium is also very good.. I watched three shows in this auditorium they are RAKTOKOROBI and SPARDHA JANGAM by GORIA SUCHARCHA and GOCHORIT MANOS by BHAN.

It is an old theater. Needs some face lift. Seats must be changed with a newer model. Sound system is good in comparison to the old look of the auditorium. Authority should take care immediately.

The theatre was very well air-conditioned the dramas were good and even the sound quality is more than average. This theatre is able to hold the interest of Calcutta and if you are a theatre lover my suggestion would be to definitely give a visit to this place.

Not the best of auditorium in city. Although conveniently located, is on a one way street, has no car parking space except illegally on footpath. Space between rows minimal. Seating comfort low. Audio quality can be improved.

Old infrastructure

This is an old group theatre hall situated at Sadananda Road near Kalighat. The hall needs to be renovated though an charm of this old citys cultural essence is still there in every corner of this auditorium.

This is probably an underrated theatre hall among the young groups. Many people havent even heard of it. Few theatre enthusiasts come here on a regular basis . The location of Tapan Theatre is just perfect , walking distance from Kalighat Metro station. They offer good shows almost everyday. I manage to catch atleast 2shows a month.

One of the chief theatre hall of Kolkata. Hall is totally central AC. Transportation is very easy. Very famous hall of Kolkata theater history. Most of the Saturday and Sunday theatre show available in this hall.

Its a reputable ac theater hall in South Kolkata where group theater teams stage dramas on regular basis. Its a very convenient place for public transportation facility.

Nostalgic atmosphere

Love this theatre bang in South Kolkata. At times you are surprised by the high standard of plays. Every other day a play happens. Tickets prices are ₹ 60-120 per ticket. Air conditioning and acoustics can improve. Next door to Kalighat metro and host of shops selling mouth watering savouries and street food.
