No matter what is it actually a Govt library. No one gives proper information over phone call or physically. Like every sector, they misguided me for 2 days. And most important information for them who are willingly visit library, the LIBRARY IS CLOSED for pandemic situation except MONDAY & WEDNESDAY. The reader can read library books from 11 AM - 5:45 PM. only. Even closes for weekend also. The book lending process is not happening right now. I think, this general information the librarians can share openly. We are supposed to know that in stead of visiting there the day after day.

This place is just opposite of Maniktala ESI Hospital. Nice collection of all types of books, journals, newspapers, etc to feed your mind. They have seperate children section and Braille sections. Environment is good, fully air-conditioned. You can borrow books against refundable deposits.

Best library in north Kolkata and 2nd best in Kolkata after national library. Quite peaceful and suitable for students preparing for competitive examinations.

Very pleasant ambience for study but very less book available for higher mathematics. Also no canteen available there and there are very few number of food stalls near it

Overall the library presents a wonderful environment for studying but recently they happen to keep the library open with maximum capacity in the middle of the pandemic whereas every schools and colleges are closed .I urge the library administration to think through their decision since lives are at stake .

U can read any book in library premises for free. If u want to take the books to home, u have to take a membership with Rs.500 only. It is one of the best libraries in West Bengal started its journey in 1956. As per Library Act of West Bengal it is the Apex library among all public libraries. Lots of facilities available here including free reading in air conditioned area, own book reading section, free WiFi etc. The process of rare books preservation and its digitization is done and made available to users. Well supported staff made the library very much convenient to users. Newly lunched digital corner for providing free internet to users is immensely helpful to the needy people. The four floor building is fully decorated with books of all types (more than 2 lakh books)and of various languages. The library has much space for readers of newspaper, magazine, child book, competitive exam, etc. Probably it is the only public library in West Bengal where a Braille service for blinds started with the help of an NGO.

Huge collection of subjective books and stuffs behaviour is very good and good environment for readers.. totally free of cost... thanks to state and central government for there initiatives towards education and research..

The state Central library povide a good environment that is familiar for study. It has multiple section to provide various facilities to the readers.Like it has a reading section where one read the book available in the library .2nd it has Read your own book section where one can read only his own book.There is also magzine and newspaper section .Apart from above all these facilities there is also a computer section where you can use the computer according to your need.It also provide wifi facilities to the readers.The most interesting thing that I like about this place is you dont need to be a member of it. You can frequently visit here according to your wish.

A very good place for book lovers. The newly installed display board is quite visible from far. The WiFi service is yet to come. You can find every kind of exam preparations books here. Membership fees are very less. Please come and read more books and make life better.

The Library environment is good but the overall features are not conducive enough for reading environment to one & all. What is most distressing is that it is governed under State Govt Rules. The Libraries are autonomous in their management & discourse to facilitate liberal education amongst all free from encumbrances.

The new edition books need to come else nice collection and the 1st floor needs nice arrangement altogether while the ground floor is at its best. anyways waiting for it to reopen!

One of the very few places amidst the city Where a book lover and an attentive learner can indulge into their own choice of books...that also for free of cost.....The reading room has a wide range of collection of books of different subjects....at the ground floor tge section for newspaper,magazines and journals is also very much satisfying...e-learning corner is also there...But unfortunately there are a very few number of study materials of Sanskrit...

The place is good but the accommodation is not. The self study room has only 63 seats which is very less. Many students have to return home. This must be taken into consideration. Otherwise its a very good library with many useful reference as well as other books.

Im a member of this library from 2004. It has Lending section and separate reading section. Lending sections books are seldom updated and contains very junk books of engineering. But, useful for college level learning. Reading section is very useful both normal and career section. Career section contains current and archived career,scientific magazines. I prepared for my govt entrance exam from here.

I visited this place thrice, the atmosphere here is really good for reading. the stuffs are also helpful. but some of them are not of any work, the just dont know where is the section of which book.😫

It has every facilities available like reading area,learning area,computers with high speed internet, unlimited WiFi ,AC , and many more ,and though we dont have to pay a single penny for that. It is just free.It is huge library with thousands of books available to read and lend.Any one can go in and study there or make files or projects without being getting disturbed.We can also take our laptops or mobile phones in there.

Huge Collection of Bengali Text Books but for engineering and management studies, Books are not so rich in width and content....Languages like Hindi and Urdu are quite popular in Kolkata but the library lacks this Language Content.It is quite spacious and good place to read and practice

I have recently become a member of this library. Good ambience. Staffs are generally helpful. There are seperate reading and lending sections. In lending section, there is no place for reading and in reading section, the books are not lent out. Memebership is required for lending section only. One time membership fee is ₹500. Additionally you need an address proof in original and photocopy and two recent stamp sized coloured photographs. The stock of books is really great but still needs to be upgraded. There is even a seperate section where one can bring their own personal books and read. Also they are subscribed to umpteen newspapers and journals.

If you are really looking for a place to explore knowledge, you must come here, its one of best libraries in Kolkata. Just Love it.

State Central Library one of the best library in Kolkata located next to DVC at Ultadanga, Kolkata.It is the main centre of various other library activities of the State. It arrange the special programmes for the public libraries.Centrally AC room and atmosphere is great for study any books, at a time you can take two books from this library.This library includes collection of very rare books and library is divided into many categories. Books are in the showcase,very systematic way. So you can find easily any books whichever you want, from the showcase.It has all sorts of modern amenities, situated in good location ,connected with well organized transport facilities.

Its the head Libray which controls all libraries in West Bengal.The libary is quite big.There have centralized AC. Many documents are avilable in that library.Digital section are also avilable there.

I am a member of this library, I have taken initiative to organise programmes with The Young Explorers Institute for Social Service, Salt Lake, Kolkata. The programmes were on Ganga in 1997, Environment in 2005 and Role of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Indian National Army and East Asain countries for Indias freedom movement.
