This is a library its good
The best of place
I had completed my Certificate course here. So I can tell better. In one word, awesome. The first thing that came into my mind are the Teachers. I love them all😘. Theyre cool, fun as well as serious, helpful, highly knowledgeable, and respected. Theyre all attached with libraries, most of them are librarians. Their teachings...I will not forget. In this course the things that they taught us was the main teachings that anyone needs who wants to be a librarian. Moreover the students are from different districts... from North to South. Those days...I really miss them still now😭. Ah! One person I want to mention. Ram ji, the caretaker. Hes between 70-80 years. A really loving man. If anyone dont believe this,...try it yourself.😊

With the spread of Western education, Libraries started growing in different parts of undivided India. In the 19th century, various types of libraries emerged in different parts of undivided Bengal. At the beginning of the 20th century necessity was felt to co-ordinate the activities of those libraries and to organize the library movements in the province. It is in this context, the All India Public Library Conference, held at Belgaon in the year 1924 under the president ship of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, adopted a resolution urging the formation of library associations in each province of India. The resolution was moved by Sushil kumar Ghosh, a delegate from Bengal. A meeting was held in Calcutta, in Albert Hall on the 20th December, 1925. The meeting was presided over by J. A. Chapman, Librarian, Imperial Library. In this meeting All Bengal Library Association was formed with Poet Rabindranath Tagore as President. Sushil Kumar Ghosh became its first secretary. With the establishment of All Bengal Library Association, a province-wise library movement started gaining grounds. In 1933 the All Bengal Library Association was renamed as Bangiya Granthagar Parishad in Bengali and Bengal Library Association in English and the All Bengal Library Conference was renamed as Bengal Library Conference.Iniitially the Association had no premises for its office and for sometime it functioned from Bansberia (Hooghly District) and later got its registered office at the Calcutta University Central Library. After some years, the Association moved its office to a rented room at 29 Huzurimull Lane later in 33 Huzurimall Lane near Sealdah Railway Station. After few years the Association constructed its own building with the financial assistance from the State Government and donation received from members and well-wishers. The foundation stone of the Association building was laid by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan in 1967. Presently, the Association is housed in its four-storied building accommodating its office, library, class rooms and computer room at P64, CIT Scheme 52, Kolkata - 700 014.

The company is constantly striving to improve the library and train modern educated staff for this purpose. Here you can study Library Science Certificate Course at a nominal cost (Tk 5,000). Learners get opportunities to work in different types of libraries. The library is quite rich here, but it is mainly library and its members are used by Rai. The addition of a computer section has made the company more prosperous.I was trained at this institution in 12 years. Even today teachers like Gautam Goshami and Asitabh Das are remembered today. None of them used to pay, but regularly came to class and taught in a bid to exemplify an ideal. They were all established in their respective fields. As far as I remember, Gautam Goshami was a great officer of Berger Paints, Asitabh Das was probably a Jodhpur Boys teacher. Some of those who came were associated with a reputed institution like Jadavpur or Kolkata University, some like the National Library. The students were given a copy of the name of the address on a paper for communication among themselves. Students came from all the districts of West Bengal. Many came to the house on Friday night and took classes all day on Saturday, from somewhere in the night, and again on Sunday, taking the night train and coming home the next day. One class room was all over West Bengal. Good health and longevity of this organization.
