Not sure about the university but the veterinary hospital which is 24 hours open is not at all very good. My own cat died the doctor did not showed any initiative and miss guided me. On top of that there are only two people helping the doctor. This hospital has only one oxygen mask. No admission is done here. My suggestion is not to take your pet in this hospital if the problem is very serious. I am not writing all these bad things because my cat died, i am writing because to make you all aware of the hospital.

You can get any pets checked at a mere ₹50 ticket and the atmoshere is open and plush with greenery.

Decent service and diagnosis but being a government medical ccollege medicines are not provided and costly medicines are prescribed. Blood test costed me 1600 which should have been free. Costs in par with any private clinic and needs to be pondered. Billing system is also very slow and if an owner goes alone with a pet, then it become very problematic to handle. Extra medicines like multivitamins are also prescribed which arent mandatory. Proper implementation and monitoring is required. There is no pharmacy inside the hospital premises and the medicines prescribed are damn costly and we have to search for hours around different pharmacies to get the same. Also because of tension as i were alone with my pet, I forgot getting a syringe for Saline Iv, and these lousy people refused to give even a single syringe even though i offered to pay for the same.

I took my puppy for dog bite but he got infected by some virus which were spread by other dogs and my dog rapidly lost weight and died. My point is they are not responsible enough to handle pets with care and they do not bother to clean the infected area after the diseased animal leaves . I lost my puppy . I am very dissatisfied and frustrated.

I visited the place for skin treatment of my Pug. Doctors are experienced and caring. Junior doctors along with the professors were attended my dog. Given less costly medicine. My dog is regaining his health.

My cat had a fracture, she have undergone an operation, it was done well ,the doctors are experienced and helpful, but the bandage was not done properly and still now she is having paw pain and sometimes causes bleeding and even the doctors said they dont do the dressing part but the other staffs do more professionally and it was the result of their professional work. My cat is still suffering the pain.

Its big campus. They have a great facility for treatment. For vaccination, I suggest you to go there, its superb cheap there. But i must say, they should have a medical shop there with the available medicines prescribed by the doctors.

This place has experienced doctors and for a government institution, it is rather well functioning. Doctors are available according to the routine put up in the campus. I, personally, have not come across bad behaviour or irresponsible staff yet and Im sure this place can help you better compared to any other place in Calcutta.

Absolutely no facility for tests. My daschund was extremely unwell and we had to literally carry her to each of the test centres which are located 1 km away from each other. Horrible experience

Very good treatment for our pets, doctors are highly experienced. Much better than private clinics. My pet dog had aesities and I had visited many renowned private clinics but of no use and at last the doctors here made him fully fit and fine.

I went there with my cat. The waiting time is too much. The doctors are nice but they dont have enough staff to hold pets. Pet owners have to hold them tightly throughout the examination. They could bite the owners.

It has all the necessary amenities and equipments but junior doctors are not trained well enough, some of them are even unable to diagnose the disease and prescribe tests which are not even needed. Although the expert senior doctors are pretty good at their job.

Good hospital for pets including diagnosis and treatment also. Both outdoor and indoor facilities are there with minimum cost for pets. This institution is autonomous backed by West Bengal state government.

This is known for being the only veterinary college and hospital of the state. My visit to this place was not that good in terms of experience. They might have several facilities there but they dont make use of them in most of the time. Car parking is available there. They are open from Monday to Saturday (till 12 noon).

West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences (formerly Bengal Veterinary College) located at 37 Belgachia Road (Kshudiram Bose Sarani), Kolkata 700037. It carries century old legacy of veterinary education in Bengal.It has a standard Veterinary Clinics where low cost (affordable) high quality animal treatment (specially pet animal) facility is extended to the public. No prior booking is needed for general OPD. Surgery and diagnostic facility is also available. There is a burial ground also.It is an educational institute having administrative buildings, faculty buildings and hostels for the students.Its location is in prominent place, very nearer to the Belgachia Metro station.

I went there with my seriously ill rabbit, but they didnt check him with care and gave some casual medicine(when I was ready to spend as much money as needed and could do anything to take care of him), so day by day he became more weak and passed away after 3 days. According to my experience the doctors are only interested in costly dogs, I think according to them only the costly dogs deserve good treatment and other pets are not enough interesting to draw the doctors attention towards their health.

Treatment is good but need more attention and care some doctors are very efficient and dutiful but others are just good for nothing.paracitology dept stuff are worthless they produce fake blood reports but other departments specifically biochemistry is very sincere.

The doctors and inters are good. The staff is ok. But cleanliness and hygiene is aweful in this place. There is overwhelming lack of basic hygiene.There is lack of basic supplies like dog face muzzles or even surgical gloves.

This is near belgachia metro station. Treatment for pets like dogs,cats,cows, goats and even birds is done here. You need to make a ticket for your pet at the ticket counter. there is also diagnostic facility like x-ray for pets. But the diagnostic facility remains closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Surgeries are also done for tumors etc. The charges for diagnostic procedures and surgery are not included in the ticket and you have to pay for it separately. For dressing of wound for your pet, you need to carry bandages on your own. the medicines that they prescribe, is usually available in a nearby medicine shop. It is better to go early bcz sometimes the queue is long and you have to wait for a longer time period. Treatment facility is overall very good and the cost is also not too high. Staff is also cooperative.

There are several reasons to never bring your pet to this awful unsanitary disgusting place. They claim to be a place that takes care of animals but they are very unprofessional and do not take any health concerning procedures to ensure your pets safety.The reason I say this is because my husband and I got a small Spitz puppy and took it for a checkup, which later would end up in heavy medical bills and death. When one of the workers were trying to take the temperature of our pup he took a the thermometer out of his pocket, fogged it with his breath and wiped it with the end of his shirt, then quickly shoved into my pups anus making her cry in pain. The thermometer was most likely put into many other animals, not just dogs, and this caused our pup to get very, very, deathly ill. We later found that she had received parvo (most likely from the thermometer), one of the most deadly low rate of survival diseases a puppy can get.Not only did he not clean and disinfect the thermometer properly and carried on the disease, but he placed our pup on a table without disinfecting it prior as well, and who knows how many other sick dogs and other animals had laid there.To make things even worse, they prescribed a ton of unnecessary medications for our pup, without even actually doing any inspection of whether or not she needed it. They took her temperature and looked at her and started writing prescriptions right away. Also She was around 35 days old and they suggested to ONLY feed her milk mixed with water, which is really not something someone should do in my opinion.She died from the disease that she definitely got from this place (we didnt take her anywhere else until she was already pretty much barely hanging onto her life so it leaves only here to of gotten the disease, we have no other dogs either)I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE FOR DOGS.

Best place yo go to treat sick or wounded animals. Doctors are very good and helpful. Many people come here daily. Its a government hospital so they charge very less.Only problem here is that, there is no medicine shop in the campus. one has to go to RG Kar hospital to buy medicines.

Cooperative staff good doctors that listen to you and most importantly answer your questions. The only hospital in Kolkata to take your pets to. My suggestion, ask for Dr. Jana or Dr. Ghosh. THE VERY BEST. The rest are just money minting businesses.

Worst worst worst, the stuff wont help at all, no stretcher or anything, you have to carry the dog yourself no matter how big s(he) is and put em up on the tall bench again and again and every time they will hit their head on the bench and wall. They asked us to bring our dog down once for getting her weight, again up for checking her and then asked us to take her down again and do her xray first instead of giving her the basic need, saline first. You even have to hold the oxygen mask in your dogs face yourself while holding down her legs so that she doesnt fall down, because theyd send your family member away to buy this and that and to stand in long queues again and again. They wont even tell you to remove the oxygen mask if her tongue starts turning blue, we arent from medical background, are we? Not to mention, dirty as heck with broken glass & used syringes on those very benches, the xray place is in another place and you gotta walk your sick dog up there. Oh and they give the blood test reports after 4-5 days, until then they wont do any sort of treatment, and they dont give a damn about the dogs life. Since we live far away, it was very difficult for us to bring our large dog who just had a stroke to such a far away place, on telling the doctor if we may treat her from somewhere nearby our place after getting blood reports, The doctor told me that he wont write the prescription if I dont bring my dog here again. Due to the sickness and the torture my dog had to go through in that hospital, she was bleeding from the mouth and falling down again and again and the doctor and his assistant said that unless I pick her up again and shove her onto that hard bench once more and in turn damage her body and head even more, they wont do anything for her, the doctor said that Im showing attitude while he was the one showing attitude, they said that they dont give a damn if our dog dies and they wont help in any way. These kinda people do not deserve this profession, these doctors, their assistants and this worst of worst hospital is playing with the lives of our pets. Do not take your pets there if you want them alive. Oh, and the staff are also very very rude. Do not believe the fake good reviews you see here, most of those are from the staff of that hospital. My dog died on the way back home. Ive lost a part of myself along with her.

Some of the faculties have very callous behaviour which is unnecessarily rough. But, they do have the best service for pets and animals. If you can actually manage to deal with uncooperative staffs, you could avail this service.

Filthy and poor condition of the hospital maybe coz its under the Government. Dirty examination table covered in blood, stool and urine. It is definitely cheap but at the cost of making your pet suffer from cross infection. The staff were rough and do not provide the kind of care n concern animal lovers do. They are just there to do their job and get paid for it. But besides that no kind of emotional connection or sympathy with the pets who are sick. Pretty far from the city.

My experience here has been the worst for the following reasons:-1. They are not equipped to look after smaller pets such as guinea pigs or hamstrsh.2. They call themselves a government institution but nothing here is for free. In fact, they levied a 100/- charge on my guinea pig just to clean his wound and carry out the dressing.3. They have absolutely no kindness towards animals. There was an abandoned dog lying in the premises and none of the staff members showed any interest in looking into itsits prob because there was no owner to pay for its medication and diagnosis.One advice: Take your beloved pet to a private clinic which is equipped to look after him/her.

Why is the emergency hospital closed?? My baby squirrel died today because he couldnt get treatment on time. I took him to the hospital and found it closed because of Sunday..He breathed his last on my hand today....he died because the hospital was closed.....

The area is not so cleaned up. And I think its a bit unhygienic also. Doctors prescribing is good. But some compounders are good and some are really very greedy. First of all youve to pay for the ticket at the ticket counter for your pets health checkup if your pet is going to get vaccinated for that also youve to pay there only. Then also the greedy compounders will ask you for some money after they give the vaccines. Even if you want your pet to be groomed a little like trimming their ( dogs)hair, cutting their nails the compounders will charge you. But still they says they do the service of government. Ive face something like this. When I deny to give money to the compunder literally he poked me by saying that- if you dont pay for this today from next day onwards when you will come with your pet and youll be standing and waiting for the vaccination. Even if your pet gets any serious condition also Ill not help. And if you pay today then whenever you come with your pet Ill make it faster. Im revealing the compunders name: Tarak. So that you people wont go for his help.Then think such people are ruling this kind government veterinary hospitals.

The vet hospital has all services covered and adequately trained doctors available. However, there is the typical apathy of a government institution where a person is made to run from counter to counter. Otherwise professionally y, a very competent place.

Although the intent of the present government has completely change the outlook odlf the hospital but most the doctors are completely misleading. I have been following up for getting my dogs ear tumor operated from the last 3 months and made around 5 visits but the lackluster behavior of the Dr.Haldar has left us in bad taste! I am sorry to say that such doctors should immediately be removed from such a prestigious veterinary hospital! Would advise people not to take their beloved pets to such disgusting doctors who just sit at these chairs to mint money and harass people like us. My Labradors tumor has degraded over the period and recently by Gods grace underwent a successful surgery at one of the private hospitals.Although the facility has improved, cleanliness has improved but the doctors are simply pathetic!

Emergency Ward is extremely dirty and the doctor on duty, P Nandy was extremely rude, unnecessarily, which later turned out to be that the time I produced my patient at the emergency was clashing with his dinner time. He simply barked some gibberish and went to have his dinner leaving my patient, a small stray kitten, unattended. Finally a compounder came to help us. The ward itself was extremely dirty, Old saline bottles dumped at a corner, syringes lying around on the floor, the nursing tables extremely dirty. After nursing a stray dog (hit by a vehicle and damaging his leg), no one bothered to wipe down the table! Appalling conditions!

Doctors are overall good and quite friendly, though not all are of the same category, staff is helpful(almost, youll have to have good relation with them for that), normally dont have all the the medicines and other medical knick-knacks required, youll have to buy those from the medicine shops nearby, nearest one being Medicine Point (remains closed from 2pm to 6pm) or from Poorna (remains closed from 2pm to 6pm), sometimes there is a lot of crowd because this is the only veterinary hospital in West Bengal.

This place is ok if u have enough time . The doctors are highly experienced, but some of them r not too good by their behaviour. The service is too poor, OPD time is 8.00am to 8.00pm. OPD close at 8.00pm sharp but, at the time of opening u can reach there at 8am but , no-one will be there to attend you am sure.The place is to much dirty / emergency cases are also treated as normal case,but the management doesnt care about it ..

Horrific. I brought my sick dog to the emergency clinic at 10 pm. He had high fever which wasnt going down even after injections. All we needed was to bring the fever down to give us more time and for the meds to work.There were two so-called doctors. Their idea of emergency was-1) to check the temperature, then to read the thermometer wrong,2) to sit on their ass while haranguing us for not bringing our dog earlier,3) to whine about the fact that we had already administered all the meds that should be administered, and4) to write a prescription that they knew would not help.They just sat there, uselessly, doing nothing except for trying to look important, as if we shouldnt have administered any medicine and waited to get my dog to their so-called emergency so that they could do it. Your clinic is called EMERGENCY!!! The so-called docs seemed to forget that its where you bring your pets when nothing else works. They couldnt even deign to try and get up from their seats to lower my dogs fever of 105 F. They didnt apply ice, or did any of the other things emergency doctors are supposed to do. What kind of people are they?My dog stroked a few hours later. He died and they could have helped, should have helped but didnt. We did what we could, followed all the instructions we could find, online and via phone. But THEY didnt help.I hope they remember that there is something called bad KARMA, you reap what you sow.

Very bad experience. Inhuman behaviour towards pets and strays, the pets that have owners who can pay loads are well treated but the ones who cant pay are mostly ignored

We have been nursing a stray for the past 2 weeks and it took a turn for the worst last night. Couldnt walk, not drinking anything, uriniating on itself and staggering. This was the only vet available so we made the journey at 1am. The doctors had a very brief look at the cat. One listened to its heart and checked its temperature. We were told that its fine and just to wait for it to recover, got given a list of meds. I cannot stress enough how far from fine the kitten was. We got the meds and the kitten passed away in the night. Maybe it was too far gone but surely a professional would have known this and perhaps euthanised the kitten rather than have it struggle to breath and slowly die overnight. Very upsetting. Avoid this place.

They see money and nothing else. Wrong diagnosis for mere fever and dehydration. Ontop of which they prescribe a lot of medicines.
