A great place to know Buddhist culture and study Dhamma

Great place to stay for families mainly. The aura and the discipline of the place along with silence and cleanliness is an advantageous factor. Situated at the heart of Central, Kolkata its nearest landmark is Bowbazar Police station and Air India office along with Post office nearby.

This place is Buddhist monastery cum lodge.Vipassana hall is there which provides place for meditation. Lodge is for all people irrespective of religion, which is provided at minimal cost having all basic necessities.People should respect the place while lodging and should know a difference between ashrama and hotel.Only back draw is the helpers here do not clean the room properly and I guess hardly wipes the floor.

I had confirmed reservations for a room, which they denied upon arrival. But they still gave me a decent enough roomBut the pillowcase and mattress were out of this world. We had to buy a set of bedsheets and pillow covers for the stay. The place is peaceful and safe and very much in the center of Kolkata. Just 10 minutes walk from Dharamtalla

Its a monastery and a lodging is attached to it. The best thing about this place is its quietness and typical old Kolkata architecture. A big Vipassana hall (2 storey)is there near the main gate which serves both as prayer and meditation hall.The lodge attached provide basic amenities like hot running water(sharing bathroom) fan and drinking water. There is ac room with attached bathroom.The landmark for this place is CHANDNI CHOWK AIR INDIA OFFICE AND BOWBAZAR POLICE STATION when taking a taxi and when taking metro its best to get down at Chandi chowk metro( Gate-Air-India office)and take narrow lane on the left hanside.

A modest accommodation provided here.....as it is a religious organization only bed is provided with common bathrooms.

Nice place to stay at affordable rates. Very helpful specially for outsiders.

You can get room for night here and the atmosphere is very pleasant.it is one of the oldest places in Kolkata (125 years)and it has a glorious history.

Calm peaceful place, price avarage, better to contact them in advance in peak season helpful staff
