Theres no sport like cricket and no stadium like Eden Gardens. i am an avid cricket fanatic and feature watched stay cricket matches across multiple stadiums in India and abroad. however a number of my quality recollections of looking stay cricket are certainly from this stadium. The environment in the stands and buzz within the floor is really out of this international. The hallowed turf is fantastically maintained too. Being right here, mainly to watch India play, is an experience you could by no means overlook.

It is one of the best cricket stadium in the world. lots of international and domestic cricket matches have been played here. Every year IPL match and some international cricket match I have enjoyed here. Over 66000 seats are available here now but previously it was more than that. Most exciting match here is see a day and night match. the wind come from The Ganges will play with the ball and makes the match more interesting. one cricket lover should go at least once there to enjoy a match otherwise it will create a huge gap in their cricket experience. But the food stall are heavy priced.

Worlds one of the best and biggest cricket stadium which can house 100,000 spectators is the most favourite stadium of many a genius cricketers worldwide. This is the place where Sourav Ganguly have grown up playing. It has provided some of the best test matches in Indian cricket history. I can go on and on talking about this stadium. My advice is, apart from watching matches here, also one should come and visit the place on a non-playing day to see the grandeur of it.EDEN GARDENS, without doubt, is the Mecca of cricket . Ask any international cricketer from any part of the globe who has played on this fabled venue - and he will vouch for the title. For the Calcuttans ( Kolkattans ? ) like us its the neighbours envy, owners pride ! Of course, it is on of the greatest attraction of Kolkata, particularly for the sports lovers. It is the world-famous cricket ground in Kolkata, just besides the magnificient river Ganges and near to Esplanade - the heart of Kolkata. It is the nostalgic venue of many great and historic Test cricket battles, as also of many thrilling Limited Over matches and Tournaments. Who can ever forget the glorious moments of the record partnership between Dravid and Laxman on this ground, or the historic Test win against Mike Brearlys England, or the inspired fight of Team India against the mighty Australia of Steve Wagh under the stewardship of our beloved Dada? And of course, the greatest sensation of all - the thunderous applause of one lakh-strong crowd when Sunny or Vishy steps down on the ground to bat or when Sachin completes another century. The sporty crowd is equally generous to appreciate any great batting, bowling or fielding effort displayed by the visiting opponents.Indeed, watching a cricket match at the Eden Gardens is a life time experience and amemory to cherish forever !

The ground has been referred to as crickets answer to the Colosseum.[7] Eden Gardens is called the “Mecca of Indian cricket”, due to it being the first officially built ground for the game of cricket in India.[8][9] Eden Gardens has hosted matches in major international competitions including the World Cup, World Twenty20 and Asia Cup. In 1987, Eden Gardens became the second stadium to host a World Cup final. The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 final was held at the stadium, with the West Indies beat England in a closely fought encounter. The stadium was established in 1864. It takes its name from the Eden Gardens, one of the oldest parks in Kolkata, adjacent to the stadium, designed in 1841 and named after the Eden sisters of Lord Auckland, the then Governor-General of India.[10] Initially it was named Auckland Circus Gardens but later changed to Eden Gardens by its makers inspired by Garden of Eden in the Bible.[11] According to popular culture, Babu Rajchandra Das, the then zamindar (landlord) of Kolkata, had gifted one of his biggest gardens besides river Hooghly, to Viceroy Lord Auckland Eden and his sister Emily Eden after they helped him by saving his 3rd daughter from a fatal disease. From then onwards the gardens name was changed from Mar Bagan to Eden Gardens. The cricket grounds were built between Babughat and Fort William.[12] The stadium is in the B. B. D. Bagh area of the city, near the State Secretariat and opposite to the Calcutta High Court. The first recorded Test at the venue was held in 1934 between England and India,[13] its first One Day International in 1987 between India and Pakistan[14] and its first T20 international in 2011 between India and England.[15] The Hero Cup semi final featuring India and South Africa was the first Day/Night match.[16]

The noise and the ambience coupled with the Mexican Wave is a visual treat. The outfield of Eden Gardens is lightning quick. The boundaries are much shorter in Eden Gardens as compared to other stadiums. But, nonetheless, its a grand and historic cricket stadium. 🏏

The Cricket Association of Bengal retained the team of Burt Hill and VMS to renovate the Eden Gardens Cricket Stadium. The plans for the renovated stadium included a new clubhouse and players facilities, upgrades of the exterior walls to give the stadium a new look, cladding the existing roof structure with a new metal skin, new/upgraded patron amenities & signage and general infrastructure improvements. The upgrade also meant reduction of the seating capacity to about 68,000 from around 94,000 before the upgrade.

Enjoyed some IPL matches here. There is nothing to watch just have fun with the crowd. Cheer your team. Dont take binoculars or the whole stadium will take turns and borrow it from you.

What can I say about it. It is Mecca of Cricket. A gem of Kolkata. home of KKR. I always love to go there to catch Live matches. For some reasons I also get a chance to enter into away teams dressing room. it was awesome. Unfortunately this year no matches of KKR happened due to Covid 19 Pandemic.

At Eden Gardens I was totally amazed! Because I had never seen this huge amount of people at once in my entire life. It was a great experience. Ive been there for Punjab and Kolkata , IPL match. More than match the stadium fascinated me a lot. The stadium was bustling with approx 1.5 lac people and all were shouting KKR. This was goosebumpy.

Best ground in India. And one of the best grounds in the world. Soo nice and beautiful. Soo big. It is the pride of India, pride of Kolkata. One if the biggest ground in the world in perspective of seat capacity. Beautiful location, on the bank of the holly river the Ganga. This ground is also a witness of many history, glory and golden miments in the history of cricket.
